runDisney Race for the Taste 10k 2022 Recap

May 10, 2022 | runDisney

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by runDisney, however, all opinions are my own.

The runDisney Race for the Taste 10k is one of those “old school” races I never had the opportunity to run, so I was really pleased to see that it was being brought back as part of the 2022 Springtime Surprise weekend. Ratatouille is one of my favorite movies, and with the new ride and expanded France Pavilion at EPCOT, I thought it was a perfect choice. I of course tried my best to dress the part.

It’s hard to see, but my headband is Ratatouille themed, too! After an early wake up call, I headed down to the bus stop area at the Contemporary to catch a ride to the start line. I won’t go into it, but there was a bit of confusion surrounding getting to the start, so I ended up being late and just running into the back of the S3 group.

I mention this because I ended up running way over 6.2 miles weaving in and out of people to be able to run the pace I wanted to run. Also wanted to mention this is probably the most humid race I have ever run, but I still had SO MUCH FUN!

I loved the course through EPCOT and the Boardwalk, and saw plenty of photographers. There was a lot to look at, and I posted a lot of videos on my Instagram story highlight labeled “RunDisney22(1)”

I didn’t stop for characters, but did snap a few in the background selfie-style. I had plans to push through this run and then relax and go slower the next day for the 10 miler. Check out Minnie in the back of the below photo!

I had lots of fun coming up with different poses to do for the photographers that were on the course. I also love how EPCOT had the torches lit, and huge runDisney signage on the water in the lake!

I also loved seeing the spectators! There was a lot of cheering and some great signs, too. I love that last turn when the finish line comes into view. So many smiles! (and sssooo much sweat!)

I happily grabbed my medal and headed to the finishers area.

I loved how they had all the photographers set up to take photos with different signs. I also love having photopass so I get all the photos added to my My Disney Experience app! It’s a HUGE perk if you race!

I don’t think I could have been any more wet if I jumped into a swimming pool. It was pretty gross! I got my banana, Powerade and box of snacks and headed to the buses. We had a full day at EPCOT planned! (after a shower, of course!)

I had a blast at the runDisney race for the taste 10k! Two races down, one to go, and I would have two more shiny medals to add to my collection. A huge kudos to runDisney for putting on yet another great race! So many great volunteers as well. Couldn’t have done without them at those water stops in that humidity. I can’t wait to share my ten miler recap next!

😎 90’s summer loading….. If you grew up in 😎 90’s summer loading…..

If you grew up in the 90’s like me, you know we had THE BEST summers. They were simple, but magical. Yes sometimes we got bored and fought with our friends, but the freedom and fun was so memorable.

In today’s world of screen time and filling every second of the day with “fun” for our kids so they never have to be bored, it makes me sad that they won’t experience what we did. So I am trying to recreate a 90’s summer the best way I can.

Will we still travel? Of course, it’s my job. But when we are home, I’m not filling every second with fun. I’m making her figure it out. Read a book. Do some chores. Then just…go. Play. Be a ten year old while I work. Then in the evenings we can play some more, together, while I tell stories of all the crazy and fun things I did as a kid during those special 90’s summers. ☀️ 🩷
