runDisney Surprises

August 9, 2012 | Disney, running, Travel, Uncategorized

If you are a runDisney fan, you probably already heard about the new(ish) runDisney Twitter account. But, what you may not know is runDisney now has it’s very own YouTube channel. Sweet! Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out on the fun. So what got all this started? You might remember my post about the Great Medal Caper, and me saying something about unlocking fun runDisney surprises along the way. Well, the next level was unlocked and the surprise was a runDisney YouTube channel, fun!

They have a bunch of different “sections” on the channel such as travel tips, Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and Disneyland half marathon weekend to name a few. I was scrolling through today, and there is actually a section for “runDisney fan videos” and what do you know, a familiar face!

After going through some of the videos, I picked out a couple favorites to show you. First of all, the recap of last year’s Disneyland half marathon got me really excited/anxious/nervous for this year’s race. It’s going to be amazing!

Next, I found this video, the course reveal for the 20th anniversary Walt Disney World marathon weekend. Disney loves to celebrate anniversary years, and I can’t wait to run this special course as part of Goofy’s race and a half challenge, and of course get my special 20th anniversary medal. Of course, I would be lying if I didn’t also say I am way nervous to run Goofy!

While the Disneyland half marathon in California is sold out for this year, you can still register for Disney’s marathon weekend races!

  • Full marathon– 81% Full
  • Half Marathon – 70% Full
  • Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge – 88% Full

Also, those of you participating in the Tinkerbell half marathon in California in January, have you seen the new logo design for this year, it’s so cute!

I just love the green color. One of these years I WILL make it out there in January to run this race, it’s certainly on my bucket list!

One more thing…I may or may not have done this:

I wasn’t going to, I REALLY wasn’t. It’s hard to justify two trips so close together, so I was just going to run the Rock n Roll New Orleans full which is on the same day. Them, my mom informs me she really wants to run Princess again, and offered to pay for my race registration and we are going to share a room! Obviously, I am not going to turn that down, so…yeah….I will be back for the anniversary medal!!!

QOTD: What is your favorite color for a race shirt? Short of long sleeves? Tech fabric or no?

I love tech tops! The bright tops are my favorite. Happy for you that you’ll be running the Princess! I’ll be there too for my 1st half!! 🙂

Some of my run club friends are doing the February Princess half in Disney, they were telling me about it this morning. I would love to do a race there and probably will eventually, maybe a full :). I love the races that do tech tees if it’s a women’s fit, short sleeves are a must. And any race shirt that isn’t white is awesome :).

I love the tech material and I like both short sleeve and long sleeve shirts. I like all kinds of colors too except white. I love wearing race shirts but I’m so afraid I’m going to stain the white and end up not wearing it as much. I love the Princess shirt but I end up not wearing it because of that fear. I love the Tinker Bell design and wish they had done something like that for this year’s races.

I love bring colors and short sleeves for race shirts, and I definitely love women’s cut tech shirts… I think every race should have a women’s cut shirt. I mostly stick to women based runs for that reason.

I am jealous of your Princess registration! That is the race got me motivated to start running. I was hoping to do it in 2013, but I am waiting to see what my husband’s school schedule looks like before I register.

I agree about womens cut shirts!

Yeah, that would make my decision pretty easy too. 🙂 Enjoy Princess 2013. I am on the fence.

I love tech shirts. Seems like most are short sleeved so it is fun to get a cool long sleeved one.

🏖️ I’m so thankful my parents took us on tr 🏖️ I’m so thankful my parents took us on trips growing up. When I was young, we didn’t have a lot of money, but they made every weekend getaway or camping trip special, and I have so many great memories.

We may not have gotten to travel often until I was a teenager, but we still had a blast, and they even took us to a @spectrumresorts property! (Ad)

As an adult, I am so grateful to be able to return the favor. To see them laugh and play with my daughter like they did with me. It’s one of those special full circle moments, those core memories that will stay with me forever. 🥹

Staying at @turquoiseplaceofficial makes things so easy, too. The condos are huge and we easily all fit without being on top of each other. There’s plenty to do with pools, a waterslide, lazy river, the beach, movie nights, kids activities, food, and more. ✨

It truly is the perfect place for a multigenerational vacation. So if you are looking for a great place to go with your parents, grandkids, aunts, uncles, or cousins, this is it. 💖

And, you can save 10% on your stay by using my code LOOKGLASS in the promo box when you are booking, here or at @thebeachclubresortandspa! 🏖️

Have you taken a multigenerational vacation? Where did you go?

We take her on these trips and cruises hoping she’ll soak in the adventure, the beauty, and maybe even the food from places different from where we live… but to her, nothing beats a corn dog and mac & cheese. 🧀

And honestly, that’s the best reminder for us, that joy doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be yours. 🛳✨

YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the kids menu, and singing “Let it Go” with a butter knife while wearing Mickey ears on our Disney cruise. 🚢

When I was 12, I was worried a lot… worried about failing, scared of what people would think of me, and of not fitting in or being “cool”.
I turned 40 this year and have been spending time trying to figure out exactly who I really am with all expectations stripped away. I don’t love the term “finding yourself”, but here I feel like it fits. ✨

Maybe finding yourself means going back to being 12.… and being myself without being scared. Heather at 12 would never believe this version of me… but I think she’d be proud. 💛✨

Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a b Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a birthday onboard a @disneycruiseline ship? 🚢

Emma Kate turned 11 last month during our sailing and we did so many birthday things! She got a ton of “happy birthday’s” from crew and guests to make it extra special. ✨

👉🏻For a link to the birthday ears she wore (they have lots of colors and variations!) comment “EARS” and I will send it to you!

This is 11. ✨🎉 Not sure how this happened, b This is 11. ✨🎉

Not sure how this happened, but time snuck up on me and now I have an 11 year old. 🥹
We couldn’t think of a more fun place to celebrate that on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

She started the day with presents, then hours and hours in the sun on the island, followed by cake and singing at dinner, the tween club, and fireworks at sea! (They were for pirate night but we said they were birthday fireworks!)

Happy birthday to the most fierce, kind, competitive, loyal, funny, and beautiful little girl I know. 🩷 Never change who you are and stop growing up so fast! So. Blessed to have the best title there is, Emma Kate’s mom. 💖
