RWS Features #3

December 7, 2011 | Uncategorized

Happy hump day everyone! I hope your week is going ok! I know everyone is gearing up for Christmas parties and seeing family, but I hope you will still have time to visit RWS during your hectic holiday schedules. I say that because mine is about to get a little hectic, too! Don’t worry, I will still be posting every day, but every weekend until after Christmas I will be really busy and not around as much on Facebook, Twitter, or your blogs, but I’m still “here!”

Yesterday it was more ab work, and I finally got a peppermint milkshake form Chick-Fil-A. I go crazy every year when these babies come out. I am so glad they wised up and made them in the smaller size. I would get such a bad stomachache after eating the large ones in years past!

——————————————————

Today I am posting my third RWS features post, please show some encouragement, visit their blog, add them to your reader, share the love! (Speaking of which, if you use Google Reader and haven’t downloaded the new super reader you are missing out! You can see everyone’s FULL blog in reader and you can comment, and it still counts as a page view. So exciting!)

Meet Karien from Running the Race!

1.  How/why did you start blogging?
Writing and running are two of my big, big passions in life, and so I thought: “Why not combine the two?”.  I also started blogging as a means to share and record some of the day-to-day joys, frustrations, blessings and lessons that come my way – love learning from and sharing things with other like-minded blogging friends!

2.  Sum up your blog in a couple of sentences.
Running the Race is about all of the things I’m passionate about: Running; racing; healthy living; good, wholesome food; friendships; relationships; and finding joy in the small things in life.  I truly believe that life is a blessing and a gift and that, despite all the challenges, heart aches and frustrations that come as part of the package, we need to focus on the good things and learn from the rest.  Not always easy, but certainly an adventure!

3.  What do you wish to accomplish/achieve by blogging?
At first my blog was all about me sharing things, but later it grew into something much more fulfilling: Interacting with so many amazing people from all over the world and all walks of life.  It’s fun to share my views, experiences and opinions, but also so interesting to learn that there are so many different (and opposite!) opinions and perspectives out there.  Definitely therefore a place to share, learn, encourage, be encouraged, build friendships and sometimes win some amazing swag!

4.  What is your biggest healthy living accomplishment?
Finally, after years and years of emotional eating, weight struggles and self-image issues, lots of lessons learnt and even more grace, reaching a point where I feel truly happy in my skin.  What an awesome blessing!

Thank you so much for sharing a little about yourself and your blog!

QOTD: What is your favorite thing about the blogging community?

*Email me a picture of your Christmas tree or Outdoor Christmas lights with your blog link and I will post them on my blog! (runningwithsass@gmail.com)

I love trends like this where I get to post the im I love trends like this where I get to post the imperfect and bad quality photos of days gone by. 😜

2016 was a VERY big year for us. Moving states. Running multiple businesses. Being accused of getting a divorce. 🤣🫣 People are wild, yall.

Looking back they were some hard, wild times and I now know more hard times were ahead for us, but I wouldn’t change any of it. I know it’s part of our story, God had a plan, and there is a reason for it all. Just gotta keep keeping on! ❤️

Allow me to de-influence you. 💁🏻‍♀️ Sometimes we Allow me to de-influence you. 💁🏻‍♀️

Sometimes we (myself included) all need a little reminder that this app shows short snippets of the entirety of someone’s day and life. No one wants to post the boring, the ugly, the sad, but it’s there.

Be careful not to compare your life with the people you see online. A lot of the things you see are inaccurate or a stretch of the truth, or just the best of the best. That’s not reality and I want to make sure no one thinks that I am ever trying to portray some perfect life that doesn’t exist. I’m a hot mess 99% of the time, and that’s ok! 😜

I sometimes am still waiting on an adult to walk into the room to tell me what to do….and then I remember I AM the adult. 🤣

When we get down to it, we are all very similar. I love you guys.

From laying out my workout clothes to packing my daughter’s basketball bag… and yes, remembering my vitamins — staying proactive just makes life run smoother.

But I realized it shouldn’t just stop with me. My dogs are part of the family too. 💛 So when I’m grabbing our wellness essentials at select Walmart stores, I make sure to pick up our NaturVet pet supplements right from the Pet Health aisle.

At home, it’s simple: I get my vitamins and supplements, and they get theirs. Staying a step ahead means taking care of all of us — two-legged and four-legged. 🐶✨
