RWS Features #40

October 6, 2012 | blogging, fitness, running

WOW I can’t believe this is the 40th blogger I have done a spotlight on, madness! I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend. I board the Disney magic today for a week of fun in the sun. Don’t worry, the dogs are being watched at our house, so they are no doubt having a great time. I can’t wait to share photos and pictures with you when I get back! RWS will still be up and running so please come visit. For now, I want to introduce you to

1.) How/Why did you start blogging?

I started a blog when my family relocated to Maine almost 7 years ago at the urging of a friend as an efficient, convenient way to share pictures and stories of our life here in Maine with those we no longer had the pleasure of being with every day.

Then I met Amy and Jen and we started Mainely Running with a goal of motivating others to get moving ~ at their pace and on their own terms. With Mainely Running we hope to inspire others. We always say ~ If we can do it. You can do it!

Read up on our Revolutionaries and you’ll understand what we mean!

2.) Sum up your blog in a couple sentences:

Mainely Running’s goal is to motivate and inspire others to get moving. We offer a running class through our local YMCA to help folks get started and to keep them moving toward their goals.

3.)What do you wish to accomplish/achieve by blogging?

We hope to encourage others to set fitness related goals and to work toward those goals with support from us and from our Mainely Running community one step at a time.

4.)What is your biggest healthy living accomplishment?

Amy, Jen and I found ourselves looking for new outlets and new challenges after putting our careers on hold or leaving our careers completely in order to be home with our children. The challenges inherent in becoming stay at home moms brought us together initially. The challenge of running a mile, a 5K, a half-marathon and then a marathon kept us together and drew us closer then we could have ever predicted.

I think the three of us would agree that our biggest healthy living accomplishment has been finding balance in our lives and realizing that taking care of ourselves makes us better, stronger, healthier and happier mothers and wives!

5.) What is your blog URL

Carols & Barrels is a Christmas-themed whiskey trail filled with festive pop-ups, over-the-top décor, and limited-time holiday cocktails at distilleries across the state.

We visited Old Tennessee Distilling Co. and Old Forge Distillery in East Tennessee, and both went all-in on the holiday magic. From peppermint martinis to hot-cocoa old fashioneds—every stop has something totally different.

Grab your FREE digital passport and start checking in as you sip your way through Tennessee. Such a fun way to add a little adventure to the holiday season.✨

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️
