RWS Features #41

October 19, 2012 | blogging, fitness, Guest Post, running

Good morning. It’s been a wild week for me medically speaking. I plan to share more on Monday or Tuesday, but let’s just say I can’t wait to feel 100% again! While I am still recovering, I thought it was time to let someone else do the blogging, so here’s another RWS Feature!

Meet Sabrina, a fellow #SweatPink ambassador!

1.) How/Why did you start blogging?

Becka at 50 half marathons in 50 states inspired me to start blogging. I thought it would be a fun way to be creative plus keep me accountable Also it was a fun way to share with my family and friends my running obsession (fun for me anyway).

2.) Sum up your blog in a couple sentences:

Just Plodding Along is where I share my quest to complete 30 half marathons before turning 30, 17 down and 1 year until I turn 30. Races, running gear, and life overshares can all be found on my blog.

3.) What do you wish to accomplish/achieve by blogging?

I hope to share my story and inspire others but also be inspired by other runners.

4.) What is your biggest healthy living accomplishment?

I would stay sticking with my goal of 30 before 30 but also losing about 30lbs and finding confidence in myself and my abilities.

5.) What is your blog URL and twitter handle

http://bean-justploddingalong.blogspot.com/

@just_plodding

Thanks Sabrina, what an inspiring goal, can’t wait to follow more of your marathon adventures!

*Don’t forget to check out this post to enter to win one of two $500 visa giftcards!

QOTD: Do you have any goals you want to accomplish before you reach a certain age milestone?

I’ve been a long-time reader of Sabrina’s blog and she is turning into a bomb runner. It’s been cool to watch her journey; great choice!

Good luck with the 30 before 30. I’ve been contemplating doing the Disney full marathon in 2015 to celebrate my 30th, which come a couple weeks afterwards.

I have heard great things about Disney runs and kind of have a not so secret wish to do the goofy challenge one year. I think that sounds like a great way to celebrate.

My fitness milestone this year is the Women’s Half. It’s my first half and it’s Nov. 18. After that, marathon… maybe goofy even 🙂

I love Bean! We’re kind of e-BFFs who got to meet in real life this week. Anyway, I love her humor and down-to-earth-iness. And I don’t have any age goals, except running makes me excited to get older because of the whole age group thing and getting extra minutes for qualifying for Boston. Yay, oldsters (that’s me!).

Using the Braun IPL has completely changed my routine, it’s the at-home alternative to salon laser hair removal that gives me long-lasting results without the appointments or pain. This holiday season, I’m making my life a little easier with gift cards from Kroger. I grab a DoorDash card in-store, clip both the 4X and bonus 1X digital coupons in the Kroger app, and then I’m earning 5x fuel points while powering through the holiday hustle. 🎄

✨ It’s such a simple way to save at the pump while still checking off my holiday to-dos: decorating, wrapping, or just enjoying a cozy night in. These architectural gems mix rustic charm with modern design—think soaring wood ceilings, giant picture windows, and a dreamy soaker tub that makes you never want to leave. 😍

We even brought our dogs along (yes, it’s dog-friendly!) and watched deer wander by through the trees. 🐾

Valley Bear Farms is tucked in the mountains of North Carolina, surrounded by peaceful forest views and plenty to explore. The property has hiking trails, a cozy general store, and other on-site amenities that make it feel like a little mountain village all its own. ⛰️

If you’re craving a nature-filled, beautifully designed getaway where you can truly unwind, these A-Frame cabins are it.👍🏻

The Cosmo JrTrack 5 Smartwatch has been the perfect in-between for us — she can call and text the people I approve, I can see where she is with GPS, and it has school mode, SOS, activity tracking, and even a little camera she loves.

We got the Holiday Bundle with the screen protector and LaunchPad stand, and it honestly just makes the whole thing easier.

If you want the link, comment “watch” and I’ll have it sent straight to your inbox. 🎄⌚️✨

🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge 🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge
There’s just something about the holidays in the Smoky Mountains — the lights, the laughter, the togetherness — it all feels extra magical. #sponsored

Our first stop was Dolly Parton’s Stampede, the world’s most visited dinner attraction, and it’s easy to see why. The pre-show in the Stampede Saloon had us singing along to country and Christmas classics before we sat down for a four-course feast that could rival any holiday dinner. 🐴

Then the arena came alive with 32 magnificent horses, trick riders, and dancers bringing the spirit of the season to life with a friendly North vs. South Pole rivalry, toys that come alive, and even Santa arriving in a horse-drawn sleigh. Pure holiday joy from start to finish! 🎅🏻

Next up was the Titanic Museum Attraction, beautifully transformed into an Elegant Edwardian Christmas, giving Titanic the Christmas voyage she never got. We each received a boarding pass with the name of a real passenger, explored the Grand Staircase, and even touched the icy 28-degree water. The interactive exhibits made history come alive, and it was such an emotional, unforgettable experience for all of us.

And to end the weekend, we dove into adventure at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. Led by Captain Blackbeard himself, the Crimson and Sapphire crews battled for treasure with acrobatics, mermaids, fire stunts, and even a sea lion! Between the four-course pirate feast and the jaw-dropping stunts, it was nonstop fun and the perfect grand finale to our Pigeon Forge weekend. 🏴‍☠️

This trip reminded me that time together really is the best gift. Add Pigeon Forge and these incredible attractions to your holiday must-do list this season. ❤️

Comment “Pigeon Forge” and I’ll send you links to grab your tickets before they sell out!
