RWS Features #9

February 3, 2012 | Guest Post, motivation, Uncategorized

Good morning! Bobby and I are having fun at the beach. We really needed to get away and I am so glad we did. While we are busy hanging out on the beach. I leave you with some awesome awesome FitFluential ambassadors to read about. These folks are amazing, so please be sure to check out their blog and say hi!

Today meet Caitlin from Cait Plus Ate!

Caitlin has a fun blog, which I don’t know HOW she has time for since she is currently getting her MBA! She is quite the foodie and also is fashionable and friendly. Be sure to check out Cait Plus Ate!

1.) How/Why did you start blogging?

I have been reading blogs for about three years now, and always thought it would be fun to do my own. I was always so nervous though! After I graduated college and started my full-time job, I decided to take the plunge and begin Cait Plus Ate to get my career plans moving. I consider it my walking/talking resume, but I also started the blog because I wanted to connect with the amazing people of the blogging community and have an outlet for my passions and also my frustrations that I sometimes struggle with when it comes to living less “rigidly” regarding food/fitness.

2.) Sum up your blog in a couple sentences

Cait Plus Ate is a place where I write about food, fitness, and all the fun it brings me each and every day!

3.)What do you wish to accomplish/achieve by blogging?

I hope to achieve a career in marketing/branding for the restaurant or fitness industry! I want to share my passions with as many people as possible and also experience as much as I can. Finally, I want to find the balance I have been seeking and learn that indulgence is OK.

4.)What is your biggest healthy living accomplishment?

Probably finally running an 8 minute mile, which I spent several years off-and-on trying to accomplish!

————————————

QOTD: How do you balance healthy eating when there are things like parties, weekends, and special occasions?

Love Cait! Hope you’re having fun at the beach, Heather.

As for your question, I never hold out and wait to eat “the big meal” on special occasions. By doing so I find I then overindulge. Instead, I munch a little before so I don’t over-do it. And then when the time comes for the big meal, I eat slow…to savor it =)

    Thanks Tina and Heidi!

My game-plan for this Sunday’s Super Bowl party, to apply your QOTD to a real-life situation, is to eat plenty of veggies, fruits, lean proteins during the day. When I get to the party, I plan to start with any lighter veggie sides/apps first, then move to maybe more heavier things after I am not very hungry. I also want to enjoy a couple glasses of wine throughout the evening! As Heidi says, eating slow and savoring is big too.

Loved this feature! I love Caitlin’s blog so this was extra special!!!

I have to be honest – I allow myself to eat what I want on special occasions/holidays/parties/etc. I find that if I restrict myself from eating something that it’ll come back to bite me! With that said, I do try to limit the quantity of what I am eating =) Everything in moderation! LOL

That was fun! There are so many ambassadors that I want to get to and read, so having a little intro like this is really fun.

    Enjoy the beach!

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

If you want to try it, there’s $40 off your first month through the link in my bio. @joinmochi #joinmochi mochihealth

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. šŸ˜‹

I started noticing little signs during my normal day. Just occasional bloating, gas, and that slightly ā€œoffā€ feeling. So instead of ignoring it, I listened. I slowed down, moved more consistently, and added Align Probiotic to my routine.

It’s one capsule a day and the #1 doctor-recommended probiotic brand for over 15 years—. I started taking Align to help relieve my occasional gas, bloating, and stomach discomfort* and now I feel more comfortable moving through my day. @alignprobiotic
