Six Years

January 6, 2013 | Disney, family

Six years ago yesterday, I married my best friend.

Check out my four year anniversary post for a recap of sorts from the big day.

I say this every year but wow time keeps passing so quickly. It’s funny to think back to that day, how you plan and plan for this day and when it was all said and done I just wanted to have a great time celebrating with my friends and family, and I don’t even remember what our centerpieces looked like or what kind of flowers were in the bridesmaids bouquets. My wedding was a fairytale, and I am so lucky I got to have such a great one with my prince charming. I have already started bugging Bobby about a ten year vow renewal in Disney World. Oh yes, it’s on my friends.

I may not have had a Disney wedding but we did have fireworks!

Bobby and I had a lazy day yesterday watching football then we stopped by a neighbors after the holiday, holiday party before going out to a nice dinner at our favorite spot on the gulf coast right across from the water, Half Shell Oyster House.

Heading to the party then dinner

Waiting for our delicious dinner

Best chocolate martini ever!

A low key day and weekend was just what we needed to recharge to get us through the next few crazy days before we leave for marathon weekend in Disney. Great way to celebrate!

QOTD: Do you go all out on your anniversary or is it not a big thing? What about birthdays?

It goes back and forth for us, but we actually haven’t gotten to spend the last two, almost three anniversaries together. 2nd-moved out of state (and I lived in two states commuting three hours back and forth for 4 months), 3rd- he worked a 12 hour shift at a prison and 4th- he was at a wedding rehearsal the entire day. Oh well, I guess the real accomplishment is not killing each other again for another year! We also don’t do anything for birthdays because we both work and live away from any family or friends.
Looks like you had a good time though! Enjoy your short period of rest until Goofy!

Happy anniversary! The photos from your wedding are gorgeous. How old were you when you got married? I forget sometimes how in the South people tend to get married much earlier than here in the North.

Happy Anniversary! Jason and I sometimes go out. We definitely celebrated 10th more than we did this year for 12th. But we still made a nice meal in.

Happy Anniversary! I so want a Disney vow renewal but it’s so expensive–wow! We don’t go all out for our anniversaries–we always have good intentions and even find overnights for the kids, but then we end up ordering pizza and watching football. This year is the big 15 so we are going to make more of an effort!

If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten C If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten Coast, save this one. 🌊 #RentingTheCoastPartner

We stayed at Singing Waves in Cape San Blas, and it was everything we wanted in a beach getaway: beautiful views, plenty of space, and the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy vacation.

What really stood out, though, was Renting the Coast. They’re a locally owned, family run company that manages vacation homes throughout Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, and the surrounding Forgotten Coast communities.

Instead of managing hundreds of properties, they intentionally keep their inventory smaller so they can provide a more personal experience for both guests and homeowners. They’re known for being accessible, responsive, and focused on making sure every stay goes smoothly.

If Cape San Blas has been on your travel list, Singing Waves is absolutely worth checking out, and so is Renting the Coast’s collection of homes along Florida’s most underrated stretch of coastline. ☀️

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️
