So I saw Myself on TV…

June 29, 2011 | Uncategorized

NO LIE! It was pretty funny. I was at the gym yesterday, running on the treadmill, minding my own business, watching What Not to Wear on TLC. (The poor girl on this episode needed some MAJOR help, so I was focusing big time.) The TV next to the one I was watching caught my eye when I saw something familiar…ME! I nearly FELL OFF the treadmill! I looked around and luckily no one else saw me. HA!

If you will remember awhile back, Bobby and I were part of a TV commercial and photo-shoot for our neighborhood. Also, you may have seen the post on the print ad we were in for the newspaper. Our neighborhood is doing a big ad campaign including two TV commercials, print ads, and a brand new website.

When I got home from the gym, I checked to see if the new website was up, and it was! Ok, so go check out Tradition’s new website. When the site comes up, there will be a picture of a 3D house. Then a new picture comes up, then a guy fishing. Our picture is right after the fishing guy. We are in 3D! Hilarious! Side note, not sure why I look depressed. The guy told me not to smile, so I guess that equals “look depressed” in my brain?

Ok, then if you want to see the video, go to the photo gallery page. There are some pictures of our house under the homes page (all the houses, not just ours) and then you will see on the bottom right a picture of me in a yellow dress and the link for “Homes #2” click that and the video should come up. It’s just a short commercial, you will see Bobby walking out of a house (not our house!) give me a glass of tea and sit down by me. HILARIOUS! What makes me laugh is the shot took about an hour to get for just a quick clip. LOL! Please ignore how dorky I look, mmmk?

You can also go straight to the link via YouTube.

I knew the commercial was going to be airing soon, but I figured I would never see it because I rarely watch local channels in the summer, so as you can imagine, seeing myself while sweating it out on the treadmill was hilarious to me! And the fact that Bobby never gives me iced tea on the porch as we laugh and chat about how romantic we are. HAHAHA. yeah…ok.

Today was cross training day, I did some leg weights at the gym and then did 30 minutes on the bike. My LEFT knee is tweaked a little, (not the IT band side) I think it may be a slight case of runner’s knee. I iced and took ibeprofin. Hopefully it will be ok tomorrow. I plan to do a 3 mile run with hills, then Thursday morning will be my tempo run, Friday cross train, Saturday long run. wwweeeee!

    Ver cute!

I was on TV constantly for 3 months for the summer of 2003. I did an internship as a sports reporter and actually had to be a reporter since they were low on staff. I hated it, hence the career switch!

You and Bobby did great! You both look very natural. I completely understand what you mean about non-smiling photos. I always look mad when I don’t smile – not exactly ideal!

As for being on TV, My co-teacher and I were interviewed during our regional science fair three years ago. And it was LIVE! Talk about nerve-wracking!

I do to! I think its b/c the natural curve of my mouth is down and not up, if that makes sense.

Even though what you were doing may be a little corny it is still pretty cool that you are in a commercial! 🙂

I am an athletic trainer, so I have been on TV numerous times while standing on the sideline of games. At least you knew you were going to be on TV and when. I am always on the candid TV shots and its so embarrassing. At least for the games I know are televised, I can put on some make-up and make sure my hair looks nice, but for the games I don’t know are televised, I look like a dork.

Congrats on being kinda-famous! Your ads do look great, even if you say you look “depressed” … although I’m not so sure you look depressed – just mellow or content.

I was on tv briefly for a Big XII Championship football game in Kansas City. That was pretty exciting because my friend’s and my parents saw us!

We take her on these trips and cruises hoping she’ll soak in the adventure, the beauty, and maybe even the food from places different from where we live… but to her, nothing beats a corn dog and mac & cheese. 🧀

And honestly, that’s the best reminder for us, that joy doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be yours. 🛳✨

YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the kids menu, and singing “Let it Go” with a butter knife while wearing Mickey ears on our Disney cruise. 🚢

When I was 12, I was worried a lot… worried about failing, scared of what people would think of me, and of not fitting in or being “cool”.
I turned 40 this year and have been spending time trying to figure out exactly who I really am with all expectations stripped away. I don’t love the term “finding yourself”, but here I feel like it fits. ✨

Maybe finding yourself means going back to being 12.… and being myself without being scared. Heather at 12 would never believe this version of me… but I think she’d be proud. 💛✨

Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a b Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a birthday onboard a @disneycruiseline ship? 🚢

Emma Kate turned 11 last month during our sailing and we did so many birthday things! She got a ton of “happy birthday’s” from crew and guests to make it extra special. ✨

👉🏻For a link to the birthday ears she wore (they have lots of colors and variations!) comment “EARS” and I will send it to you!

This is 11. ✨🎉 Not sure how this happened, b This is 11. ✨🎉

Not sure how this happened, but time snuck up on me and now I have an 11 year old. 🥹
We couldn’t think of a more fun place to celebrate that on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

She started the day with presents, then hours and hours in the sun on the island, followed by cake and singing at dinner, the tween club, and fireworks at sea! (They were for pirate night but we said they were birthday fireworks!)

Happy birthday to the most fierce, kind, competitive, loyal, funny, and beautiful little girl I know. 🩷 Never change who you are and stop growing up so fast! So. Blessed to have the best title there is, Emma Kate’s mom. 💖
