Starting Off Right

March 3, 2011 | Uncategorized

Hola! Did you see yesterday’s post about my plans for the month of March? I would say I started off right and had a good day yesterday! My mom and I went to Target, where thanks to Kelly and her couponing advice, I will be shopping a lot more often! We then went to Lee’s Hamburgers. YUM! if you are from the NOLA area, you know what I am talking about. if you aren’t….then sorry you are missing out! Lee’s makes the best hamburgers ever and they have been around forever (like, since my parents were little, now that’s a LONG time! )

It was so beautiful out we ate outside!

A burger, fries, and root beer later…you would think I would be too full for froyo. But, you would be wrong! We thought it was comical since Menchies is in the same shopping center, all we did was move down the building and eat outside there, too!

This my friends is NY style cheesecake with cherries, strawberries, and almonds! Heavenly goodness in a cup.

I seriously have terrible posture. I need to learn to sit up straight.

After the gloriousness of feeling so full I had to change my pants, I had the bright idea to go on a run. I WANTED to run, but my rock hard full of food stomach thought otherwise….but I did it anyway. it was so beautiful outside, the prettiness of the day was just calling out to me! I decided to run a quick three and see what kind of speed I had. I did great mile one, right at 9:00. Mile two is when my stomach started rebelling against the motion and I got a super sick feeling but still managed to run it in under 10:00. The third mile I was able to pick up the pace a bit. I even tried to throw up but couldn’t, I knew I would have felt better. oh well. Anyway, I managed to finish in 28:00! For someone on the verge of vomit, I was incredibly proud of myself!

After my run, I went inside to discover my dad was home, so my mom and I made him walk with us. they even jogged a little! We ended up doing 1.35 miles total. We ate dinner, watched American Idol (well, mom and I did!) and I went to bed! I would call that  successful March day in more ways that one. Go me! Hopefully today will be a success as well, because tomorrow all the fun begins!

Bobby got the keys to the new house yesterday FINALLY, so tomorrow I meet him there and unload my car, then we will take one car up to our old house and the movers come Saturday morning! it will be a wild weekend for sure! I will take plenty of pictures for you though. I can’t wait to unpack in my new home!  I am off to enjoy the day, have a great one!

QOTD: What are you doing this weekend?

Great job on the run! Isn’t it funny how sometimes when you feel the worst, you run the fastest? My fastest run this year came an hour after eating a huge lunch and cupcake. I almost didn’t run bc I was so sick to my stomach!

Yay for house keys! Excited for you!

I’m so bad at running after I eat! I usually have to eat at least 2 hours before I run. Way to stick with it!

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character e Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character experience: The Plaza Inn character breakfast. Here are a few things to know:

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
