Steal My Itinerary for North Alabama

August 1, 2024 | Travel

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Alabama Travel about North Alabama, however, all opinions are my own.

We recently had the opportunity to travel to North Alabama on a little family getaway. We were truly blown away by how much there was to do. We had SO much fun and wish we had more time to explore! Here is my itinerary that you can “steal” if you are looking for a fun getaway in Alabama:

  1. Embassy Suites Huntsville

Stay in comfort and style at Embassy Suites Huntsville. With spacious two-room suites and a complimentary made-to-order breakfast, it’s perfect for both business and leisure travelers. Don’t miss the nightly evening reception with drinks and snacks! We met some lovely people that way. We loved having SO much space in our room to spread out in the room. I don’t know if I can go back to a “regular” hotel room!

  2. The Revivalist

Enjoy a contemporary dining experience with a Southern twist at The Revivalist, located in the historic 106 Jefferson Hotel. Known for its craft cocktails and locally sourced ingredients, it’s a foodie’s dream. This was our FAVORITE meal of the trip. The restaurant is super cute, service was spot on, and the drinks were delicious. It is a very laid back and cozy place!

  3. Commerce Kitchen

Experience Southern hospitality and gourmet cuisine at Commerce Kitchen. Located in a historic building downtown, it’s renowned for its shrimp and grits and Southern classics with a modern flair. The building was very cute, and the menu definitely had some handcrafted cocktails I have never seen before! Make sure you stay for dessert, we had the skillet cookie!

    North Alabama

  4. Grille on Main

Unwind with a delicious meal and a glass of wine at The Grille on Main. This spot is known for its vibrant atmosphere and seasonal menu, featuring dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. We ate outside and enjoyed live music as we ate. The area this restaurant is located in is a live/work/play area, and is adorable! I would love to explore more!

  5. Rosie’s Cantina

Savor authentic Mexican flavors at Rosie’s Mexican Cantina. This local favorite has been serving up Tex-Mex delights for over 25 years, with a festive atmosphere perfect for any occasion. The decor was on point and so very colorful. I loved the queso dip and chips, and the portions were very generous. Would go back!

  6. BeeZr

Enjoy a craft beer and delightful bites at BeeZr. Located in a beautifully restored historic building downtown, it’s not just a brewery but a culinary hub featuring a variety of delicious eats. The eclectic decor and food menu are fun and quirky, but so delicious! My husband had the best old fashioned he has ever had in his life here, and that is saying something!

    North Alabama

  7. Burritt on the Mountain

Step back in time and explore history at Burritt On The Mountain. This historic park and museum offers stunning views of Huntsville and features a mansion, historic park, and nature trails. We were blown away with how beautiful it was. We learned so much history and Emma Kate didn’t want to leave! I love that you can host weddings there.

  8. Monte Sano State Park

Embrace nature with a hike at Monte Sano State Park. Known for its beautiful vistas and over 20 miles of trails, it’s a haven for hikers and nature enthusiasts. I had no idea Huntsville had hiking trails. We enjoyed some beautiful views and family time in the woods. There were so many trails!

If you’re the type who loves extending the adventure, then you definitely might want to consider heading east toward Cedar Bluff for some riverfront RV camping. Believe it or not, but it’s the kind of peaceful escape that balances out all the sightseeing. Just think about it for a second, wouldn’t it be dreamy to have a morning coffee by the water and evenings under the stars. Besides, north Alabama’s landscapes are even more magical when you can actually wake up in the middle of them.

  9. US Space and Rocket Center

Blast off into the world of space exploration at the US Space and Rocket Center. Home to the Saturn V rocket and Space Camp, it’s an educational adventure like no other. There are tons of hands on exhibits, demonstrations, and videos to teach you all about space. We could have stayed all day, there is so much there.

  10. EarlyWorks Children’s Museum

Engage and educate the little ones at Early Works Children’s Museum. With interactive exhibits like Biscuit’s Backyard and the Talking Tree, it’s a fun and educational experience for kids. This museum is downtown, and we absolutely loved it. There were so many fun and cute interactive exhibits, Emma Kate had a blast. Another place she didn’t want to leave!

  11. Point Mallard Waterpark

Cool off and enjoy thrilling water rides at Point Mallard Park. Featuring America’s first wave pool, it’s a summer destination for all ages with slides, a lazy river, and more. We were not expecting this place to be as large as it was! There was enough to spend the entire day at the waterpark. They also have lunch food, ice cream, and other treats. Emma Kate’s favorite was jumping off the diving boards.

    North Alabama

As you can see, there is so much to see and do in North Alabama. Next time you want a fun and active getaway for your family, consider Huntsville and the surrounding areas. You won’t be disappointed!

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character e Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character experience: The Plaza Inn character breakfast. Here are a few things to know:

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋

If this is what “one stop” on Cork to Fork looks like… I’m curious what the rest tastes like! Head to the website ( 🔗 in bio) to learn more about the trail and download your free digital passport! @tnwhiskeytrail

I really thought struggling with my skin was just I really thought struggling with my skin was just something I had to deal with as I got older or got stressed. I kept trying random products instead of actually being consistent with ingredients that made sense for my skin. 🫶🏻

Lately I’ve been using personalized skincare through Mochi Health and it’s been so much easier having products targeted to what my skin actually needs instead of just guessing every time I break out.
