Storm

April 7, 2014 | family, pregnancy

Nothing figurative here, I am talking about an actual storm! Last night, we had some big storms come through and we were under a tornado watch all night. I woke up about 4:00 to some serious rain, thunder and lightning and checked the weather. (You know, after going to the bathroom #pregnantproblems) and saw a huge squall line about to hit us. We decided to go sleep downstairs for the rest of the night. We have a HUGE Pine tree right outside our 2nd story bedroom, and if it fell on the house it would literally fall on our bed, so we don’t like to take chances when high winds are involved. I have seen firsthand that a pine tree can be used as a missile during hurricane Katrina.

That gets me thinking, have I ever told yall my Katrina “story”? What I was doing/what happened with my family etc.? I know I have posted a couple of pictures, but is that a story yall would be interested in hearing on the blog? Let me know!

Moving on, my parents came for a visit on Saturday and we had a nice time. My mom bought me some maternity clothes from Old Navy and I am so grateful, because especially in the pants/shorts department, I have nothing much I really fit into anymore. Even my yoga pants are starting to cut off my circulation. Sunday we spent waiting on the rain that ended up not coming until the middle of the night. Back to the grind again today, hope everyone has a good day!

QOTD: Would you be interested in hearing my Katrina story?

Living in Michigan my whole life, then moving to Missouri 3 years ago was SUCH a scary transition for me because of storms! In Michigan, it snows a lot, it sucks, no big deal. Here every single spring storm is a tornado watch or warning and my anxiety always is high for the flash flooding, tornados, oh and the baseball sized hail I saw last week.

I want to hear your story for sure!

I didn’t know Old Navy had maternity clothes. That’s awesome! I bet they are super cute!

Would love to hear your story!

I got plenty of maternity clothes from Old Navy. Love that place!

One of the things I like being on the first floor is I don’t hear the hail on the roof. It could get pretty scary at my last apartment.

I am also interested in your Katrina story.

So funny because I bought a few maternity items at Old Navy and Ross this weekend too, with my mom as well! haha. There are great deals at Ross! I got a comfy pair of maternity capris for $12.

Yikes! Glad to hear y’all are safe though! We have the same line of storms moving through today, so I’m just praying the severe weather bypasses us.

I would be interested in reading your Katrina story. I still have really bad memories/feelings from then. It really changed the life of my sister and my grandmother. Hard to believe we are coming up on 10 years.

I’d be interested to hear your story. Out West we get earthquakes (just had one a few days ago) but they don’t usually end up in the devastation and death toll that hurricanes do (at least not as often).

Yes, I’d be interested in hearing your story. I think your storms are heading my way today. I live bring in the house during storms, I hate driving in them.

I’d love to hear your story. I live in New Orleans but I moved there almost exactly a year after Katrina.

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️
