The Disney Fantasy Part 1

April 4, 2012 | Disney, Travel, Uncategorized

I have had several people ask me more about the cruise I went on in March, specifically about the ship itself, so I am going to do a 2-3 part series on the ship and with some more photos of Castaway Cay. I will only do one of these a week as to not overwhelm my running blog with Disney. I will also be writing more specific and detailed posts about different aspects of the ship for the blog my travel agency operates, and I will be sure to give you the links when they are up.

We got to the port on Friday morning, and there were several decorations announcing the Fantasy.

We walked right onto the ship, and stood in the beautiful lobby just taking it all in. I had been on the Disney Dream last summer, and while it’s lobby is all dark wood, the Fantasy had a more light, airy feel to it.

I could still smell the fresh paint! it was awesome. We headed up to Cabanas (which is the same on the Dream) and got lunch. I love this buffet, great food but also, it’s easy to navigate and you don’t have to stand in one long line which is nice.

After we ate, it was time to go to our rooms. I was in 7606, which is a Deluxe family stateroom with verandah.

The difference in this room and the regular staterooms with verandah’s is the murphy bed, extra chair, and space. In the regular rooms, right past the couch, is the wall and verandah. In these rooms, there is the extra space (see the brown murphy bed up against the wall, no pulled down?) Having the extra room was nice with three adults, oh, and the desk area is longer.

Another difference is in the bathroom. The tub was nice and big and rounded, lots of space!

the wall is rounded to accommodate the shower

other side of the split bath

lots of storage, TV with extendable arm, and refrigerator below

couch converts into a bed, murphy bed pulls down from the wall

Two chairs and a table on the verandah

something running related…yesterday I ran 4 miles in 39 minutes! I felt good and like I could have kept going at that pace. I really needed a good run, I haven’t had one in awhile. Especially after my hot and humid miserable 10 miler on Sunday. Tomorrow I will take yoga and lift. I also lifted tonight with Bobby. Getting back on track!

Also, only a few days left to vote for me in the Fitness Blogger awards! You can only vote for me one time, I would really appreciate it!

*Don’t forget I am a Disney travel planner, it costs you nothing to have me book and plan your trip for you! Summer discounts for WDW are now available! e mail me at heather@travelwiththemagic.com for more details!

QOTD: If you could cruise, what line would you cruise on and where would you cruise too? I would love to do a Mediterranean cruise!

I really want to do a Med cruise too, but I’d like to do a Disney cruise (your posts kinda sell it, lol). I love all cruises pretty much, but it looks like Disney really took it to the next level with this ship. That stateroom looks great for a family too- much roomier bathroom than we had on Royal Caribbean or Carnival!

Wow!! I love the bathroom! I’ve only ever done a Royal Caribbean cruise before and I remember the bathroom being so small – your pictures make it look like its a decent size. I would love to do a cruise through the Greek isles or an Alaskan cruise. And a Disney cruise!

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character e Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character experience: The Plaza Inn character breakfast. Here are a few things to know:

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
