Good morning! Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I am virtually pinching you if you aren’t wearing green. 🙂 I hope everyone had a good weekend and that you are finally adjusting to the time change. It’s still weird to me that it stays light so late but I absolutely love it!
We spent the weekend at my parents house, they hadn’t seen the dogs since New Years and we just wanted a relaxing weekend doing a lot of nothing, so that’s what we did!
We drove in Friday late afternoon and went to dinner with my parents and watched a movie back home. Then Saturday we just relaxed at the house, sat outside (temps around 70!) and chatted. We planned for a run but it rained Saturday and Sunday, so I haven’t worked out in several days. Not a surprising turn of events for this girl, hoping in another week or so I will be feeling much better!
Sunday it rained in the morning but the sun came out long enough for us to BBQ for lunch and sit outside and eat. It was wonderful! I also finally got to fulfill my snowball craving. I had two this weekend, and they were amazing. Wedding Cake with condensed milk. I die.
Mom and I spent some time chatting about the gender reveal party her and my dad want to throw us. So, those of you that have been to one or had one, any tips or pointers? We have been all over Pinterest but honestly it is SO overwhelming!
What are your favorite themes, ideas, or tips for us? We want it to be casual but lots of fun!
QOTD: Gender reveal party ideas or help?

We are all wearing the color we think it is for my cousins, and she has a saying from an Old Wives tale that like according to symptoms that we think she’s had we will put on blue or pink beads, and then the cake has a filling in it so they will just cut in to it and we will all find out 🙂
Heather says
we are def doing the cake!

I like the idea of everyone guessing ahead of time either by wearing a specific color or choosing to carry a mustache or lips on a stick. Where would Pintrest when my son was born? Lol
Heather says
I say the same thing about pinterest for when I had my wedding! I had to rely on magazines lol

Are you guys going to find out at the party too or will you already know? I think it would be cool if you found out at the party then everyone could share in your pure excitement. But also hard to wait that long!
Also, I love the idea of hitting a pinata and then the color glitter falls out on your heads. Would make for some cool pics!

At the party. I have seen ones where the parents already know, and I don’t understand the point of the party when they do that, it seems so anti climactic to me lol! my appt. will be scheduled just a few days before the party so I won’t have to wait long (hopefully)

At the last gender reveal party I went to the parents didn’t find out until the party. The ultrasound tech wrote on a card the baby’s gender, and they opened the card at the party, so it was a surprise for everybody involved. We were told to wear pink or blue based on what gender we thought the baby was. Outside on the front porch there was a set of blue and pink balloons, and after they opened the card daddy went outside and popped the balloons of the other color.
Heather says
we are def. finding out with everyone at the party!

I did not have children because I knew I have way too much wanderlust in me. BUT, if I had, I am sure you would be the type of daughter I had! (Although technically you may be 4 or 5 years older than possible for me….) I had never heard of these types of parties, but how incredibly fun!! I am looking forward to you future blogs on your running whilst pregnant, all your parties, and of course your giveaways!!! I am excited for you and your ohana!!
Heather says
Thank you for reading! I am excited, too!

Glad you had a relaxing weekend! Girl I haven’t had ONE snowball this season! 🙁 Wedding cake is my favorite! A gender reveal party sounds so fun! We didn’t do that when I was pregnant…we just revealed it to our parents.
Heather says
I had TWO this weekend lol!

You could have an unfrosted cake or cupcakes, and use the frosting as a way to announce. Have white frosting and then add food coloring.
Heather says
cute!

I don’t really have any tips on gender reveal parties…I’ve seen a few things on pinterest so you’ve probably seen all the ideas I have too haha! I can’t wait to see photos of the party though – so excited for you! When do you get to find out if it is a boy or a girl?
Heather says
we will find out at our appt early may, and find out with everyone at the party!

We didn’t do a gender reveal, but they look SO fun. Pinterest is definitely the place to search ideas. I saw one where the inside of the cake was pink or blue and the couple cut the cake to reveal.
Heather says
yes we are def doing the cake!

I have no idea what a Snowball is and I feel I am missing out on something amazing in my life.
The only one of my friends to have a baby yet did the cake color inside as the reveal.
I can not wait till these are the things I get to think about too! I love the little ideas of having people guess what it is before/when they get there.

I’ve never been to a gender reveal party but they are such a cute idea! I really love the cake idea.
Is any Disney inspired stuff going to make it into your party? That could be really cute, too 🙂

We didn’t do one, but a couple of our friends have. I have seen the balloon in the box one, which is really fun for kids and adults, the cut in to the cake one, and a paint one. With the paint one, they picked what they would paint the room for either gender and the paint store mixed the color without telling them. At the party, they opened the paint can. That might kill two birds with one stone, lol, you can plan out TWO nurseries 😉
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
We never did a gender reveal party but I think it could be so fun! You can keep it as simple as you want- just pick some of your favorite snacks, favorite people and a fun and easy way to announce it- like it cake pops. Exciting!
Crystal says
I wish I could fly out there and make the cake for you…;)

Not sure if anyone else suggested this but I went to one and “What will it BEE” was the theme. There were floating Bee’s everywhere and the decor was yellow and black. Buy Easter themed Oreos (they’re yellow frosting and black cookies) while available and luckily for you, they will still be fresh for your reveal party. If you are doing prizes or gift bags, use Burts Bee’s. You can do striped decor when there isn’t a Bee involved, using yellow and black. I can go on and on…..
