Weekly Recap: December Week 3

December 22, 2012 | fitness, running

Merry Christmas weekend! I don’t know about you but Christmas really snuck up on me this year. it’s exciting but sad at the same time, it will be gone so quickly. One thing I am NOT sad to see go is my super long run schedule for Goofy in January. I love to run, but I do NOT love to run double digit runs every single weekend. Oy. I will gladly take a break and run some 5k’s this spring!

Yesterday after our run

Ok, so this past week in review. We ran an 18 miler last weekend, and after going to the chiropractor all week and adjusting to the newness of that, we decided to take it easy this week (also to help make sure we don’t get injured so close to the race!) This is what the week looked like:

Sunday: rest

Monday: rest

Tuesday: 30 minutes stationary bike, upper body weights

Wednesday: 20 minutes stationary bike, upper body weights

Thursday: rest

Friday: 2 miles on the treadmill

Saturday: 7 miles outside

Today we are running about 12 miles, attempting to simulate some back to back long runs to prepare for Goofy in just three short weeks! We will be celebrating Christmas with family until Wednesday, so I’m sure workouts this week will be a bit wonky too, but that’s ok, it’s Christmas! Have a great Sunday everyone, I am going to sit by the fire!

*RWS readers! You can now get a 15% discount at runningskirts.com with the code “SKIRTSASS” this code is good as much as you would like to use it, as often as you would like. I also put it up in my sidebar in case you forget later. They have GREAT workout and running gear, it’s mainly what I wear and their skirts are pretty much all I run in. Please let me know if you have any questions about the products I would be happy to answer!

My favorite Christmas Eve tradition is watching Muppet Christmas Carol. I love Kermit’s song “One More Sleep Till Christmas” and on Christmas Eve, that’s especially true.

I’m feeling the same way. Training for Goofys becoming more of a chore instead of fun (the cold weather doesn’t help either)…but it’ll be worth it! This is the first year I’m away from family for Christmas, so were going to be starting new traditions. Christmas Eve were planning on making a bunch of new and different appetizers to try

Wow. I am always so impressed by the Goofy runners who have to train with two long runs in a row. I imagine my body would adjust, but sometimes just the thought of it makes my knees ache! 🙂

Great job on the back-to-backs! I’m running the Disney Half so my long runs aren’t quite so intimidating (8 miles today). I’m so impressed with those running Goofy–takes a lot of commitment. I can’t believe we’re only three weeks out!!!

My fave Christmas Eve tradition is our pre-party at my house. We have an appetizer/dessert menu and keep it casual and small. We also open one gift each as a taste of what’s to come Christmas morning.

Seems like interesting training. What exactly is goofy? Good that you have something to train for during this time of the year. Seems like most people are just killing time before spring race season.

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️
