Weekly Recap November Week 3

November 18, 2012 | Disney, fitness, running

Good morning! I am HOME! My flight was delayed Friday night and I got back to my parents house around 7:00 after my mom picked me up from the airport (thanks mom!) Bobby came to get me and we just decided to crash at my parents house, I was zonked! We got up yesterday morning and drove home with the pups, and man did it feel good to be in my own house after 15 days.

I think they missed me.

As far as workouts go…well…there aren’t any really. Saturday the 10th I ran the Wine and Dine Half marathon (recap coming tomorrow!) and then well…I just walked a lot. Now now, when I say a lot I mean a lot! I was in Disney all week after the race and anyone who has been knows how much you walk. So, no running, no weights. Just walking. Hoping to hit it hard on Monday and get back to my training plan. I am starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with the thought of goofy.

I was sick during the race and the whole time I was in Disney, something with my stomach we aren’t sure what, but I am going to see a GI on Tuesday and try to get some things figured out. It hasn’t been a pleasant month between the sea sick patch fiasco, cardiologist, the leg cramps during my half marathon, and now this. I am thinking it’s all related but who knows, but it is REALLY frustrating and I am just wanting to get back to “normal” so badly.

So….this week…

I walked. And that’s ok. It happens right? Not going to beat myself up over being out of town and feeling like crap the whole time I was there. Let’s start the new week off right, shall we?

QOTD: Ever been out of commission due to a non running related illness? What did you do to “get back out there?”

I’ve only had the occasional cold, but nothing that’s taken me out of training more than a week. Hopefully you’ll be feeling better soon!

I deal with something called POTS, and this affects stomach/digestion, heart and blood pressure, and headaches among other things. It definitely makes it tough to work out at times… I hope that they can get everything figured out for you soon!!

Okay – I’ve never been a fan of little dogs in sweaters – but your dogs are so freakin’ cute. I’m in love with yours!!!! & I do LOVE LOVE LOVE your purple socks and pink shoes. Fun combo.

I sure hope you feel better soon. Not fun to be sick.

So this may not make sense right now, but my experience has always been positive after coming back from an injury or illness.

Pain, being uncomfortable, and the associated frustration inherent with not being able to perform like we want to is torturous while it’s happening. But if you think about it, it also sounds a bit like what makes us better at what we love – “training”.

I think a lot of what we do to prepare for long runs is encapsulated in finding ways to deal with pain, frustration, and not always hitting the numbers we want. But in the end, at the finish line, we are all better for it and carry with us to the next run our experience and the knowledge of what we CAN get through.

None of which really answered your QOTD lol.

The beaches of Alabama are the kind of place where the days feel slow, the kids are happy, and you don’t feel like you need a vacation after your vacation.

Alabama beaches in the spring just make sense.

2016 was a VERY big year for us. Moving states. Running multiple businesses. Being accused of getting a divorce. 🤣🫣 People are wild, yall.

Looking back they were some hard, wild times and I now know more hard times were ahead for us, but I wouldn’t change any of it. I know it’s part of our story, God had a plan, and there is a reason for it all. Just gotta keep keeping on! ❤️
