Coca-Cola: America is Your Park

June 14, 2012 | family, fitness, health

I love going to the park. Even as an adult, there is just something so fun and energizing about playing in a common place where people from the community can gather. Parks are especially important, as they provide a place for kids to get out and play and be active. Living in a state that always tops the obesity charts, I feel that making improvements to our parks is a very important thing.

Thanks to Coca Cola, this is going to become a reality for four parks around the country! Yes, it’s true! Through the live positively campaign, Coca Cola is allowing you to vote for your favorite park, and you can earn even more points for checking in via a special foursquare link when you visit your favorite park. This is the third year of the successful campaign, so be sure to vote for YOUR favorite park. The America Is Your Park campaign was developed in collaboration with the National Park Foundation, America’s State Parks and the National Recreation and Park Association

You can vote now through July 15th for your favorite local park. I am voting for my favorite, Ft. Maurepas park in Ocean Springs, MS.

This park means a lot to me because it is usually a meeting spot for long runs, and it is right on the beach. It’s in a beautiful area, which is still trying to come back after hurricane Katrina. Bobby and I have even gone for a long run and then had a picnic at the park afterwards. It has a fun playground and a splash pad as well as bathrooms and a covered pavilion, but I would love to see a basketball court or some outdoor metal workout/circuit equipment.

It’s all up to you, folks. If you want your park to win, spread the word! You can share via Facebook and Twitter that you have voted, so you can get everyone you know involved. Last year, there were a total for 13 MILLION votes! I say we try to top that! Remember, any park big or small can win. First prize is a $100,000 grant, 2nd prize is a $50,000 grant, and third prize is a $25,000 grant. One lucky park in the top 25 will be randomly chosen for a $15,000 grant as well. It’s SO EASY to vote, so do it right now!

Ok so to recap, here are the two ways to vote:

o Going online (via computer or smartphone 1 vote each)
o “Checking in” and voting from the park via Foursquare (100 votes each) – Details on the site

QOTD: What park are you voting for? Every vote counts!

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Only legal residents of the 50 U.S. (and D.C.) who are at least 13 years old and reside within the U.S. at the time of participation are eligible to vote for a Park. Participate on behalf of a Park by: July 15, 2012. The 3 most popular Parks will be offered a grant and there will be 1 Wild Card drawing at the end of the Contest to award an additional grant. To participate, for Official Rules, and complete details including grant descriptions, visit www.LivePositively.com/parks. Void where prohibited.

I love when big companies do things like this 🙂 Pepsi did something cool a couple years ago where you could vote for your favorite charity. I can imagine what improvements that amount of money will bring!!

This is a really cool concept! There are so many great parks around the country–it will be fun to see some candidates and winners.

I’d vote for Centennial Park down the road from me. A great lake park w/ lots of green space, a running path all around it, and boats to rent. Love it.

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️

The end of the year is always a time that I reflec The end of the year is always a time that I reflect on how things went, what I want to do different or better in the new year, and to be honest…I’m always really hard on myself.😕

I often end up sad or frustrated that things didn’t “turn out as planned.” But planned according to who? Success according to what?

As we were ice skating last weekend at Gaylord Opryland, laughing and just having so much fun as a family, I was hit with what I can only describe as a warm fuzzy. I wanted to smile and cry all at the same time. I thought to myself….this is it right here. 🥹

If nothing else good happens, I’ve got this and am so rich because of it. These moments. This is what I always prayed for as a girl when imagining my family one day. And it’s here, happening right now. I don’t want to wish it away waiting for the next big thing to happen.

I just want to ice skate with them in a place that makes us so happy. Wha a year. ⛸️ ❤️

It’s still Thanksgiving weekend so this counts as It’s still Thanksgiving weekend so this counts as a Thanksgiving post, right? 🦃🫶🏻

I took the day off on Thursday and then worked a ton Friday, EK had bball Saturday and then we went out of town. I realized I never posted for turkey day! 😜

I have so much to be thankful for, most days I feel completely undeserving. God has been good to us, even in the days that don’t feel so good. His plans may not make sense at the time, but thankfully He is the one that sees the whole picture, not us!

We are going into the Christmas season with hearts full of gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the most special and my favorite time of year! Let the celebrating continue!

Lastly, I am thankful for all of YOU! For liking, commenting on, and watching my content over the years. Without you, my career doesn’t exist and I am beyond thankful for the opportunities this job has given me. So THANK YOU! 🫶🏻
