Being busy isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but may cause you to have to rethink your priorities and schedule. As a parent, you have a lot on your plate to juggle on any given day. What you don’t want to do is get so busy that you lose yourself in the midst of the chaos. Self care is so important for your mental and physical health. Don’t forget that you can’t pour from an empty cup!
You’ll be happier when you like what you see in the mirror and are full of energy. Check out these four tips for feeling and looking great as a busy parent so you can remain in a good place even though you lead a hectic lifestyle.
1. Take Time to Organize Your Closet
One tip for feeling and looking great as a busy parent is to take time to organize your clothing. Getting dressed and ready each day and change out of your comfortable clothes and pajamas is something a lot of people swear by. Go through your closet and get rid of clothes that don’t fit you right or are out of style. There are so many places to donate! Invest in the staples and items that fit well to make you feel good. You can shop for unlined bras here that will allow your natural shape to shine through instead of fussing with all that padding.
2. Don’t Skimp on Self-Care
If you want to feel and look great as a busy parent then don’t skimp on self-care. Make time for yourself and take good care of your health daily. Participate in activities that help you calm your mind and body and allow you to recharge. It can be anything from reading a good book to taking a warm bath or heading to the spa for the day. If you fail to practice self-care you’ll soon wear yourself out and not like how you feel and may become frustrated. (Happens to us all sometimes!)
3. Make Time for Exercise
Always make time for exercise and moving your body if you want to look and feel great as a busy parent. It is one to-do you simply can’t afford to skip or ignore. It’s not only beneficial for your health and body but will boost your mood as well. You should especially commit to working out on the days you don’t feel like it since these are likely the moments you need it the most! Remind yourself how good you feel after you get done and find activities you enjoy doing so it doesn’t always feel like work.
4. Ask for Help & Say No
Everyone needs help from others every so often and as a busy mom, you’re no different. We all know the saying, it takes a village! Feel and look great in your role by reaching out and letting others know what they can do to take some of the pressure off you and feel less overwhelmed. Avoid trying to do it all yourself and learn to ask for help and delegate tasks to people who want to lend a hand. Be realistic about what you want and can achieve each day and then be happy with that instead of spreading yourself too thin. Also, learn to say no when you’re too busy and already have enough to do. Be the best you so that you can take care of your family!
