5 Things Friday III

October 2, 2015 | baby, blogging, family, fitness, health, Travel

Happy Friday! Time for 5 things Friday, I hope you have a great weekend!

1.) Emma Kate had her one year old check up yesterday. Girlfriend is still a big kid! 23 pounds 5 ounces (91%), 30.75 inches long (93%) and her head is 90th%. She got 4 shots and wasn’t too happy about it. Mama got a shot, too (flu shot).

2.) The fun blog news just keeps on rolling this week! I will be back this coming year as a blogger for the Crescent City Classic 10k, a SUPER FUN race in New Orleans over Easter weekend. Seriously, this is one of the most fun races with an amazing after party. Start planning NOW so that you can come, it’s a blast!

With that being said, I have some news for you, the CCC has announced it’s official charity partners for the March 26, 2016 race. As Charity Partners, the select 14 nonprofit organizations will be part of the “Run For It” Program, the Official Charity Program of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic, now in its fourth year.  After successfully generating $500,000 for local charity and nonprofits in 2015, the Crescent City Classic has officially raised over a million dollars for nonprofits benefitting the city.

3.) Fall weather! Finally! We are having temps dipping into the 50’s overnight this weekend, maybe I can finally wear jeans and boots, which are my favorite. I actually just ordered some new boots and I can’t wait to wear them!

4.) Yesterday was the 44th anniversary of the day Walt Disney World in Florida opened. Fun! I will be there THIS MONTH! Sadly not for a race, but still Disney fun!

5.) Garage Sale. I have yet to have a garage sale as an adult. In my neighborhood, you can only have them on a set date twice a year, and tomorrow is that day. I’m selling a lot of baby items, and I am kind of “eh” about the whole thing. I hope it’s worth the time I put into pricing everything. I for some reason have a feeling it’s going to be more trouble than anything. We shall see!

QOTD: Have you ever had luck making money at a garage sale?

I’ve been to a couple garage sales but my parents never had one. Whenever we moved, they gave away the stuff we weren’t moving to friends, donated it, or sold it.

my grandma used to love going to garage sales and doing them every now and then. we would actually make a decent amount of money on them (over $500). Our neighborhood does one twice a year and when we participate we make decent money as well, its always surprising what people will buy that you might have just thrown away. I tend to sell stuff on ebay more though because it goes the opposite of a garage sale people bid more not less 🙂

I’ve read all your recaps from the cresent city races and it looks like a great race. Wish I lived closer so I could participate!

We had a garage sale once. We didn’t have a ton of luck. We have WAY more luck at consignment sales. I just consigned over $900 worth of stuff at our local sale going on this weekend. Last night was the soft opening and we already made $96 worth. Today is the first big day so we’ll see how much goes after they close out!

I consign ek’s nicer baby clothes but they won’t take wal mart or target brand clothes which is what a log of her stuff is. Hopefully we have luck tomorrow!

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️

The end of the year is always a time that I reflec The end of the year is always a time that I reflect on how things went, what I want to do different or better in the new year, and to be honest…I’m always really hard on myself.😕

I often end up sad or frustrated that things didn’t “turn out as planned.” But planned according to who? Success according to what?

As we were ice skating last weekend at Gaylord Opryland, laughing and just having so much fun as a family, I was hit with what I can only describe as a warm fuzzy. I wanted to smile and cry all at the same time. I thought to myself….this is it right here. 🥹

If nothing else good happens, I’ve got this and am so rich because of it. These moments. This is what I always prayed for as a girl when imagining my family one day. And it’s here, happening right now. I don’t want to wish it away waiting for the next big thing to happen.

I just want to ice skate with them in a place that makes us so happy. Wha a year. ⛸️ ❤️
