Nutrex Hawaii

June 4, 2012 | fitness, health, running, Uncategorized

I have always been curious about supplements and vitamins, I think they are a great way to get extra nutrients to help your body, especially if you are a picky eater like myself. When I was given the opportunity from Nutrex Hawaii to review some of their products, I was really excited to see what they could do for me.

I was sent Spirulina in powder and pill form, as well as BioAstin. I had never heard of these before, so I did some research (and was sent some great literature) and I found out some pretty amazing stuff!

Spirulina has been called Nature’s most powerful superfood supplement. So what is it? Its a blue-green algae found in lakes in Africa and central America. Its a complete protein with super high levels of Beta-Carotene, omega 6 fatty acid, and B vitamins, among other things like antioxidants.

The brands Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica is the only spirulina cultivated in Biosecure zone free of pesticides. herbicides, and industrial pollutants, and this is all done in Kona, Hawaii.

Get this, one serving of spirulina has the same levels of antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals as 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, WHOA!

Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica is good for:

–Your eyes

-boosting immunity

-boosting energy

-supports blood health

-is a building block for muscle tissue

-supports cellular health and immunity

—————————————————–

The second product I was given is BioAstin.

This product has been called “Nature’s Anti-Inflammatory”.  It is also packed with antioxidants, and has been proven to help those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint and muscle soreness after exercise, and inflammation of the skin from UV exposure/sunburn. The last two are very interesting to me. As an athlete who is out in the sun a lot, I am excited to see some results regarding skin inflammation and post/workout muscle soreness.

Also, BioAstin is safe for people of all ages, and has has no known side effects. It also helps your immune function, cholesterol, eyes, brain, and central nervous system.  The key ingredient, Astaxanthin, is found in the highest concentration in the animal world in salmon. It has been thought that the strength and endurance for this fish to swim upstream can be attributed to Astaxathin. Sounds like a win win to me!

I just started taking these pills last week, and cannot wait to see the results, so stay tuned to see how I am feeling in a couple of weeks. A huge thanks to Nutrex Hawaii for letting me try the products out!

Guess what? There is going to be a TWITTER CHAT tonight at 8:00 pm CST. Be sure to use the #SuperNutrients and join in the fun! Not to mention, PRIZES! Two (2) chat participants will win a $50 Spafinder giftcard and Hawaiian Health Package (Hawaiian Spirulina tablets and powder, BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin, a signed book by Suzy Cohen, Astaxanthin and Spirulina books: all in a drawstring gym bag). ONE chat participant will win the Grand Prize: a $100 Spafinder giftcard and Hawaiian Health Package (same as above)

FitFluential LLC compensated me for this campaign. All opinions are my own.

QOTD: Have you ever tried a product with these benefits? Which health benefit intrigues you the most?

Interesting! I still take prenatals b/c I’m breast-feeding, but once I’m done I need to look into other supplements.

I’m really interested in how the astaxanthin helps athletes in terms of endurance and strength. This will be the main part of my “review” in a couple of weeks. Great write-up girl!

Just got some of the Spirulina today! I got the powder though, so going to see how that goes. Going to put it in my juices and such I think. Curious what you think of it the more you use it.

I am a huge fan of Spirulina! I love it! It was recommended to me to help get my energy levels up and it totally helped! Those aztecs were onto something back in the day 😉

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
