Lorna Jane Fit Challenge: February Update

March 1, 2015 | Disney, fitness, health, motivation, running, Travel

It has now been a month since I started the Lorna Jane fit challenge. I will admit I didn’t have my whole heart in it this month because 1.) I am marathon training and 2.) I went on a much needed vacation.

My marathon is in two weeks and I plan to go big or go home after that with the challenge, but I did manage to make some small changes this month thanks to the fit challenge.

I did several of the workouts included in my guide, and even tried a couple of new meals from the “nourish” portion. Something I definitely did a good job of this month is just getting outside. Even when it was cold out, I made it my goal to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. When I was on vacation I spent a ton of time outside, and I think in the winter months I forget just how much I enjoy it!

Because of my hip injury and physical therapy, I have been focusing a lot on not only the PT exercises given to me for my hip, but also the strength moves from the challenge and am already seeing an improvement in my stability and balance.

I am excited for March, I know once my race is over I can focus more on this instead of logging so many miles. I plan to keep up the strength work and hopefully add in some new recipes this month!

Remember, to keep up with the challenge and what everyone is doing search and use #LJFitChallenge, #sweatpink #lornajane

QOTD: Do you work on stability and balance?

I had to go to physical therapy back in November when I started having pain in my knees after running. I was training for the GSC and the stability exercises really helped! I try to do them every day, although this past week I slacked. I think spending a week in Disney wiped me out. I might need another vacation from my vacation

We do a little stability during PT, but I’m trying to do more at home. I used to be able to do Eagle in yoga before my injury, and I want to work my way back up to that. I was still wobbly, but right now I need both feet on the ground.

If you haven’t been to either, add them to your list! Dollywood has tons of great rides and shows (we are season pass holders so go often!) and Downtown Flavortown has amazing food, an arcade and duck pin bowling. They were kind enough to have us come visit and eat with them.

Are you going anywhere fun this summer?

😎 90’s summer loading….. If you grew up in 😎 90’s summer loading…..

If you grew up in the 90’s like me, you know we had THE BEST summers. They were simple, but magical. Yes sometimes we got bored and fought with our friends, but the freedom and fun was so memorable.

In today’s world of screen time and filling every second of the day with “fun” for our kids so they never have to be bored, it makes me sad that they won’t experience what we did. So I am trying to recreate a 90’s summer the best way I can.

Will we still travel? Of course, it’s my job. But when we are home, I’m not filling every second with fun. I’m making her figure it out. Read a book. Do some chores. Then just…go. Play. Be a ten year old while I work. Then in the evenings we can play some more, together, while I tell stories of all the crazy and fun things I did as a kid during those special 90’s summers. ☀️ 🩷
