4 Destinations In Asia Your Family Will Love

October 14, 2020 | Travel

With many Asian countries starting to lift travel bans caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, it might be the right time to start planning your family’s trip to the largest continent in the world. Asia has a rich and dramatic landscape; from stunning beaches and peaceful villages to contemporary cities with rich cultural backgrounds, there is something for everyone who wants to go there, making it the perfect destination for families. So, where does one even begin when planning to travel to Asia? If you are in charge of travel planning, here are a few places that every member of the family will fall in love with.

  1. Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and is probably the most well-known Thai vacation spot among many travellers. Phuket has some of the world’s most amazing beaches, with clear seas, excellent weather, and a wide range of activities for people of all ages. Splash Jungle Water Park and Phuket Aquarium have activities that all members of the family can enjoy. There are also many boat-riding activities on offer. If you are not big on some fun in the sun, then treat your palette to some local Thai cuisine in town. Active and outdoorsy family members will enjoy other activities like zip-lining, snorkelling, and mountain biking.

Following the easing of travel restrictions, the Government of Thailand announced in September that all leisure tourists would be granted a 90-day visa starting October 1. To qualify, visa applicants will have to provide accommodation (hotel or private) evidence and agree to quarantine for 14 days.

  1. The Maldives

Did you know there is more to the Maldives than just being a romantic destination for newlyweds? These beautiful islets in the Indian Ocean make it the perfect location for families looking for a tropical island adventure. Your kids would love the array of both indoor and outdoor activities available to them, from surfing, going on marine tours to even ice skating! Older adults can spend their vacation unwinding by the pool, trying out local foods, or if they are feeling adventurous, go scuba diving. In July, The Maldives opened its borders to international travellers and tourists. While there are no changes to its standard visa requirements, travellers can show negative COVID-19 test results 72 hours before departing.

  1. Singapore

Singapore opened its borders to international tourists at the start of September. While the country’s borders are not yet opened to all countries, particularly the United States, it has plans of slowly updating its current list of approved states. Singapore is usually one of the top destinations many families consider when they want to explore Asia. There are so many things to do in this beautiful country; it has a stable and easy to understand transport system, a rich and vibrant culture, many tourist attractions like the world’s biggest aquarium S.E.A Aquarium or the famous infinity pool at the Marina Sands Bay Hotel.

There are also many accommodation options, from hotels to private properties. If you have a large family group, you might want to opt for private accommodation to cut hotel costs. Renting a room in Singapore is not all that expensive, surprisingly, and in the long run, it will save you more than staying at a hotel.

  1. Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan

We cannot mention Japan and not mention its two family-favourite destinations, Tokyo and Kyoto! Both cities are distinctly different: Tokyo, the capital, has more of a modern feel with bright colours, tall skyscrapers, and innovative electronics and gadgets. On the other hand, Kyoto gives tourists a glimpse of old Japan and has over 2000 shrines and temples to visit and explore.

There is an endless list of activities to do in Japan, from visiting Hello Kitty Parks to watching popular sumo wrestling matches. If you plan on visiting many sites, it is best to go for a Rail Pass, which provides you with unlimited travel on trains and buses. The best part is travel is free for kids under five.

Japan plans to reopen its borders soon to a select group of countries. Following its reopening, tourists will be the last groups of people to be allowed entry. That might take a long time, so you might want to change your destination or wait it out.
Asia has so much to offer to many families looking for a holiday. Hopefully, if you are thinking of where to go, this list has narrowed down your search and given you some options to consider. Ensure that you check out travel restrictions for other destinations, not on this list.
