Disclosure: This post on best spring break trip hacks is sponsored by Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism, however, all opinions are my own.
1.) Create a Packing List (in advance!)
Nothing stresses me out more than trying to pack for a trip at the last minute. I have learned that if I start early and slowly add things to a list (and a pile in my bedroom!) that I am less likely to forget about things. This also gives me plenty of time to think of things I need to grab at the store, any medications that may need to be refilled, getting a dog sitter, etc. Don’t start your trip stressed out because you are trying to do it all at the last minute! (Check out this beach packing list I made a few years ago.)
2.) Use the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism Website
If you want THE BEST website full of information on lodging, dining, local events, and other things to do, be sure to check out the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism website. It is loaded with the latest information to help make your trip go smoothly. You can even subscribe to their e-newsletter. I have used it many times when looking for something to do or somewhere to eat. It is like the beach Bible!
3.) Plan in Chill Time
One thing I see so many people do is overschedule their vacation. They go go go, and leave no time to rest and recharge. Then when they get home, they feel like they need a vacation from vacation! Especially if you are traveling with kids, trust me when I say they will be 100% fine if you don’t have activities scheduled in every second of the day. Create some space to just chill in your condo or at the pool and beach. Your body and mind will thank you!
4.) Be Prepared for Anything
Like a good girl scout, I always try to be prepared (I did one year of brownies as a kid, that counts, right?) A lot of the activities you want to do on your spring break trip to the beach will probably involve being outside, but sometimes the weather just doesn’t want to cooperate. It’s a great idea to have the proper clothing to prepare for all weather, and also backup ideas for things to do if your outdoor activities were to get rained out or changed due to cold weather or rain. It gets chilly on the beach at night during spring break, so we always bring jackets and pants even if the daytime high is in the 70’s. Ponchos and umbrellas always make it into our suitcases, as do medicines for “just in case” upset tummies or headaches.
You can have an amazing spring break trip as you visit the beach this year, just keep my four hacks in mind and I know it will be fun and relaxing for you and your family. Enjoy, and don’t forget to check out this awesome website for helping you plan!
