August 2016 Goals

August 1, 2016 | blogging, family, running

I can’t believe it. I actually have a monthly goals list ready to go on the first of the month! Hooray! I have been a few days behind lately, so I was determined to be on time for August. Before we see what my August plans are, let’s see how I did in July:

1.) Clean out my work closet: C+ I did half of this, but there is just so much to do I didn’t get to finish. It’s carrying over again for the third month. I’m determined!

2.) Finish boot camp strong with more muscle mass: A+ Yes! While I haven’t actually done my body fat test yet (I decided to wait and do it before we start our next round in a couple weeks) I KNOW I finished strong. I have more muscle in my legs and arms, and I weight less than I have in years. So gaining muscle AND losing weight is really all I can ask for. Happy with my progress.

3.) Get my eBook launched on time: A+ This was a big one, and I am happy to say everything went really well! With the help of some amazing people, I was able to launch my book on time and get the word out. It’s so much fun to wake up in the morning and check my book sales. You can check it out for yourself here.

4.) Read my Bible every day: A- I read my Bible almost every day, except Saturday. Saturdays are just hard for me for some reason. I guess because I am not in my normal work week routine?

———————————

August is going to be another crazy month around here for some reasons I am hoping I can share with you very soon, but I just can’t quite share yet. Because of that, I can’t share every single monthly goal I have, so my blog list will be a little shorter. Trust me when I say I’m bursting at the seems to share and will do so as soon as I can! Also remember, I will share my news first with my email subscriber VIP list. You can sign up for that here, as well as get free printables to help you track your monthly goals and fitness progress.

August Goals:

1.) Finish that darn upstairs closet: Carryover from the past two (sigh) months.

2.) Stick to my training schedule: I mentioned last week that I started training for fall and winter races. I will be honest and say the thought of running a half marathon right now is daunting because it’s just so hot, but I know I have to start training now in order to be ready in October/November/December. This is making it hard for me to want to get out and run and follow a training plan, but I really need to in order to stay on track.

I am really looking forward to the fall races I have lined up….but NOT looking forward to training for them in the heat! Grew up in Alabama and living in Kentucky now – cannot seem to get away from the Southern heat and humidity!

Hey we went to OL yesterday when the rain cancelled pool plans, and while it was delish as always, I was wondering why no high chairs??

When we bought the store last year there were none. Most babies that can sit up can sit on the couch (typically what I have seen) or are brought in inside a stroller. I honestly have never had anyone ask that!

But it’s a very valid question (sorry hit send too soon) and I will look into it

No biggee! I probably wouldn’t have even thought about it, but we’ve taken her to Menchies a couple of times and they have them. I just held her in my lap (for some reason to her couch=playground lol), but usually her dad and I both like to give her bites so having her between us is easier. Thanks!

Congrats on all your goals last month! Girl! I am so not ready to start training again! It’s just so hot!!!!

If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten C If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten Coast, save this one. 🌊 #RentingTheCoastPartner

We stayed at Singing Waves in Cape San Blas, and it was everything we wanted in a beach getaway: beautiful views, plenty of space, and the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy vacation.

What really stood out, though, was Renting the Coast. They’re a locally owned, family run company that manages vacation homes throughout Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, and the surrounding Forgotten Coast communities.

Instead of managing hundreds of properties, they intentionally keep their inventory smaller so they can provide a more personal experience for both guests and homeowners. They’re known for being accessible, responsive, and focused on making sure every stay goes smoothly.

If Cape San Blas has been on your travel list, Singing Waves is absolutely worth checking out, and so is Renting the Coast’s collection of homes along Florida’s most underrated stretch of coastline. ☀️

Have you ever visited Cape San Blas?

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️
