Boarding day continued (again)

July 7, 2010 | Disney

Ok so back to Mickey boat pictures!

The last set I posted were of our room, and lunch and some exploring of the ship. Here we go with more!

This is the Quiet cove (adult) pool. aaahh

Mickey kid’s pool

eerr…random shot of the deck!

by that time it was time to head back to our rooms for the wonderful boat drill. Here is the obligatory picture…oh Bobby

Mom likes to wave at the camera

It was quick and painless, then it was time to get on the deck for the sail away party! Which honestly wasn’t that exciting and it was SO HOT I had sweat dripping down my back. eewww

As the party was ending we knew the boat was leaving soon and my dad wanted to see us leave the port so we went to the front of the ship and heard the most wonderful sound, the ship horn! For those of you you don’t know, the ship horn is the first 7 notes to the song “When you wish upon a star” it makes me tear up every time! We watched for a few minutes as we floated away, saw a couple stingrays in the water, then realized we had to go change for dinner, we had a 5:45 seating.

We ate at Animators Palatte, and met Ricardo and Allwyn, our awesome servers!

Bobby got the kids mac and cheese as one of his like, 3 entrees. They have the BEST mac!

This is a cool place. The walls start off as black and white and the waiter’s vests as well, then it changes to color by the end and they have colorful vests, too!

After dinner we went to the shops, Bobby broke his Oakleys so he had to get new sunglasses. Then we went to the show, it was the Golden Mickey’s, it was so good! I of course cried..We were pooped so we went to bed early if I remember correctly. Tomorrow we would be at Castaway Cay!

Okay, so I had to comment about the mac-n-cheese. When we went 2 years ago, this was my husband’s favorite! He primarily ate off the kids’ buffets everywhere we went (he’s the picky one in the family!).

Great pictures of the pools – love the look of the wood on the decks!
Surprised you went with the early dinner seatings – thought you would have wanted to avoid all the kiddos. 🙂

we are like old people, we can’t eat at 8:15, I would die! we eat at 5 here at home. Last cruise we had late seating and I hated it. I was plesantly surprised at how dinner was. There was a general low buzz of noise so I didn’t notice any random temper tantrums or anything lol! It was fine 🙂 I do like kids, I really do, just not when I am paying thousands of dollars for a trip lol!

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
