Disneyland Expo

September 2, 2012 | Disney, running, Travel

Whew what a fun but exhausting day! I know I am skipping telling you all about several things, but I am trying to keep race things grouped together right now and will go back and talk about the hotel, parks, etc. So yesterday in my post I spoke a bit about going to the expo, so be sure to check it out for a few photos, but I was able to actually do some shopping today and walk around more so yes, you get to see more expo pictures.

So we actually woke up and went to Disneyland for a few hours and then walked over to the expo. I needed to get my coast to coast challenge bracelet and we needed some GU. I had ordered some before we left, but with the hurricane, the mail didn’t get delivered. It was a lot of fun but wow was it a madhouse!! So. crowded. We walked back over to the Disneyland hotel where the expo was, and went downstairs to runner relations to get my coast to coast bracelet. It was an easy fix.

We then went back upstairs to the expo floor where I was able to finally get to hold in my hand the new 20th anniversary medal. Friends, it is awesome in photos, but WAY more awesome in person. It is heavy, it is beautiful, I LOVE it!

I also got to see the new Donald medal, and of course the goofy medal I will get in January as well!

There were a lot of people around so i didn’t get as many photos as I wanted, but it was so nice to finally see them up close.

We did some walking around, bought our GU, sampled some products, and ran into some friends I used to work at expos with or have booths near, etc.

I also picked up my free poster which I will show you later when I get home. It was a great expo, lots of workers and volunteers, just crazy crowded. I was sad I didn’t see a Disneyland Half Marathon mug (unless I totally missed it). They had other kids of cups and glasses but I didn’t see a mug. Anyone else? All in all, if you haven’t been to a runDisney expo, you don’t want to miss it. You can still sign up for marathon weekend and the Princess half so don’t miss out on all the fun!

QOTD: Favorite race expo ever?

The expo is where you have to go to pick up your race packet and bib, so everyone has to go and it’s open to the public. If you go to runDisney.com you will see info about the health and fitness expo

I hope you did well today 🙂 I was at DL in 2009 and found the contrasts to WDW to be quite fun.

What fun! I love the excitement and energy of packet pick-up and expo! My favorite is a toss up between the Chicago Marathon and the Cincinnati Flying Pig.

I didn’t see a mug either so I don’t think there was one.

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.
