Great news for travelers in East Tennessee! Allegiant Air has just announced a new nonstop flight route connecting Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) to Alabama’s stunning Gulf Shores and Orange Beach via the Gulf Shores International Airport (JKA). This exciting new Knoxville to Gulf Shores direct flight will make it easier than ever for Knoxville residents and surrounding communities to enjoy the white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Flights begin May 21, 2025, with fares as low as $39, making this an affordable and convenient travel option.

Discover the Beauty of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach with the Knoxville to Gulf Shores Nonstop Flight

Alabama’s Gulf Coast is one of the South’s best-kept secrets, featuring sugar-white sandy beaches, warm Gulf waters, and an abundance of fun activities for all ages. If you’ve never been to Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, you’re in for a treat! Here are some highlights that make this area a must-visit destination:

Breathtaking Beaches

The main draw of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is undoubtedly the pristine coastline. The soft, powdery sand and gentle waves of the Gulf of Mexico make it an ideal place to relax, sunbathe, or take a refreshing dip in the sea. With miles of shoreline, you’ll always find the perfect spot to unwind.

Outdoor Adventures

For those who love outdoor activities, Gulf Shores has plenty to offer. Take a dolphin cruise, rent a kayak or paddleboard, or go deep-sea fishing for an exciting day on the water. Gulf State Park is a fantastic spot for hiking and biking, with scenic trails winding through beautiful natural landscapes.

Delicious Coastal Cuisine

Food lovers will be delighted by the fresh seafood and southern flavors found in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. From iconic beachfront restaurants like The Hangout to local gems serving up Gulf shrimp, oysters, and crab, there’s something for every palate. Be sure to try a classic po’ boy or indulge in a plate of blackened redfish.

Family-Friendly Fun

Traveling with kids? Gulf Shores is packed with family-friendly attractions. Visit the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, spend the day at Waterville USA waterpark, Book a sandcastle building class with Sandcastle university, or enjoy mini-golf and go-karts at The Track. There are plenty of options to keep the little ones entertained.

Lively Entertainment & Events

Throughout the year, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach host fantastic events, from music festivals to seafood celebrations. There are concerts at the Wharf, and the National Shrimp Festival is a foodie’s paradise. No matter when you visit, there’s always something happening!

Spacious Places to Stay

There are so many choices of accommodations when staying at Alabama’s beaches. My favorite is booking a condo straight through Spectrum resorts. They have Turquoise Place in Orange Beach, and The Beach Club in Gulf Shores. Both are family friendly with beautiful beach front condos, pools, dining, and more. Plus, when you book straight through the Spectrum site you get tons of perks AND you save 10% by using my code: LOOKGLASS at checkout!

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
