Self-care and taking care of yourself, in general, isn’t a selfish task. It is essential for you to feel like you are being taken care of mind, body and soul. But we don’t always have time for it, and more importantly, we don’t take the time to work out what we need to. And the truth is that self-care looks different for everyone. Some people want to grow plants, others want to clean their homes from top to bottom. It has to be something that makes you feel good, or that makes your life better in some way. Let’s see what you need to do to calm your mind.

Before you work out great ways to calm your mind and add self-care into your routine, it is important to understand why so many people don’t manage to fit it in and see where that might apply to you and what you do.
Most people are very busy, and when they have free time they want to kick back and watch a movie or scroll through Instagram on their phone. And unless that is feeding your soul, then chances are you might feel like you ‘waste’ a lot of time. Another issue is that people assume that self-care is a bath and a nap (and it can be) – but it can be things like doing your accounting or being outside.
So you have to commit to it on all levels.
Gut Health
As was mentioned before – not all self-care is about a bath. Your gut health is really important when it comes to the rest of your body. It impacts your mood, energy levels, and so much more. So it might be time to look at what you are eating and the impact it has on you and your body.
Moving
If you wake up with aches and pains, tight muscles and joint pain, then it might be time to fit some yoga into your daily routine. Yoga for strength, or for relaxation is an ideal way to work out all of the kinks and improve your overall health. Not only that but yoga can help you learn breathing techniques that can be used when you are feeling anxious or stressed.
The great thing about doing yoga is that even if you manage to fit in one session a week, it is going to have a positive impact.
Go Somewhere
If you have always wanted to visit a gallery in another city, or maybe even a country, then it might just be time to schedule that trip for later in the year. Travelling, even a small distance, can have a significant impact on our creativity – but it also allows us to get out of our usual environment.
Organization
Taking control over your environment and doing things like decluttering, rearranging and cleaning can give you a lot of calm. Not only are your surroundings clean and tidy, but that sense of control can bring peace. Planners, to-do lists, pinboards with routines on them can help as well.
All of these little tips will make your day to day life run a little smoother, which will keep you relaxed and lift some of the worries from your mind.
