How To Give Yourself Some Pampering At Home

December 21, 2021 | health

It is only a few days to Christmas, and if you’re not already on a break for the holidays, you’re probably gearing up for one. Without a doubt, it’s been quite a hectic year with many people balancing work and several responsibilities at the same time. For all these reasons, it’s not a bad idea to take a good break from all the hustle of the year. In that case, you may not be different from the 85% of Americans looking forward to a relaxing and balanced holiday season. That being said, keep reading for some ideas on how to vamp up your at-home pampering.

  • Sleep in

Over 60% of Americans are sleep-deprived, which seems to have taken a toll on other aspects of their wellbeing. Unfortunately, some people don’t believe that sleep is a form of pampering, and they may miss out on the benefits of a good snooze. Sleeping allows the body to recover from the daily stressors that heighten anxiety. It also ensures that your mind and brain specifically process information as they should.

For many people, good sleep happens only in a dimly-lit room or one with no lights at all. Depending on your preferences, you can set the ambiance in the bedroom as you want. When you consider sleep as a form of self-care, you will understand the  benefits it can offer your tired body. For the best experience, try getting out your favorite sheets, pajamas, and comforter. The weather is already chilly, and it helps to remain warm when you plan to sleep in.

Admittedly, the reality of an extended sleep period will depend on how noisy the home is. If that is the scenario you’re facing, perhaps you can invest in noise cancelling headphones to block out unwanted sounds. Better yet, you can pick a day when everybody is away from home to get that good sleep you so much deserve.

Another option if you struggle to sleep is to try melatonin to help you sleep. It has been a lifesaver for me! Use code HeathersLG for 10% off on this website.

  • Get an at-home hair treatment

There are several treatments your hair can benefit from. It can be a scalp massage or deep conditioning to help you relax. If you intend to change your appearance altogether, you can do that as well, starting with your hair. Thankfully, there are many curly hairstyles to try out as you pamper yourself. The objective of self-pampering is to feel and look good!

  • Have a candlelight dinner

The pampering session cannot be complete without a candlelight dinner either by yourself or with a loved one. While at it, ensure to take out your best set of china and other dinner table accessories, like if you went out to a fancy restaurant.

First of all, set the table with your favorite flowers and scented candles. Since you will be close to lighted candles, maybe you can try those made from soy or beeswax. They are healthier options than those that burn and emit fumes laced with volatile compounds. Next, make a selection of your favorite music collection. Sounds that enhance the ambiance are great options.

Lastly, dress up to look the part. If dressing down is your preference, nothing can hold you back from doing what feels comfortable. It’s your pampering moment, and whatever you choose to do only enhances the experience.

  • Order or cook your favorite meal

If you’re not up to whipping up something in your kitchen, maybe a better idea would be to order it. You can also try something you already know about or a meal you always craved but never got to try out. It can even be a comfort meal you abstained from for a while. It wouldn’t be bad to consider that a ‘cheat meal.’ After all, it is a well-deserving moment to please your palate without needing to count calories.

Another option you can try out for a big splurge is to hire the services of a chef.  Maybe instead of making this for you alone, try inviting close friends or relatives to enjoy the moment with you. If you want to share the cost, it helps to discuss with your guests ahead of time.

  • Invest in high-quality skincare or cosmetics

There are several skin care products on the market. However, just as clothes, some are categorized as high-quality than others. Because your plan is to have a self-pampering moment, it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all to splurge on a few of those. The objective here is to make your purchase meaningful. Also, after your pampering day, these luxury cosmetics can be used on special occasions or as you wish.

They might cost a little more, depending on the brand and the quantities bought. However, in your mind, you feel on top of the world having a luxury product you can splurge on your body whenever you wish. Plus you get what you pay for. A better quality product is always going to cost a little more. I personally love Glowbiotics skincare. Use code Heather20 to save 20%!

  • Sprinkle fragrances around the home

Research has shown that fragrances can lighten up a person’s mood. This is because they appeal to the parts of the human brain where emotions and memories are processed. Fragrances also relax the body to ensure that you enjoy the moment. Indeed, what might smell great for others, might not be the same for you. Therefore, it would help if you used oils and candles that you love.

As a tip, please ensure the oils you diffuse around your home are products you are familiar with. You never know what fragrances you might be allergic to. On the other hand, if you’re trying out something new, maybe it would help to try it out about a week to the pampering day to avoid any accidents.

  • Give yourself a spa treatment

A pampering session cannot be complete without a spa treatment. If you’re hiring the services of a therapist to do this at home, that can be fun! Otherwise, you can do it all at home without interruptions. For instance, enjoy a bubble bath infused with oils that relax your body. Put on some soft music and dim the lights. Grab a good book or magazine. Enjoy!

A pampering session by yourself can be great and much needed. Have a great Christmas and give yourself the gift of self care!

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️
