October 2012 Goals

October 2, 2012 | blogging, health, running

I wrote a post in September talking about my goals for the month. Now that it’s October (WOW) it’s time to look back and see how I did. I decided to only set 3 goals for September, I have been really busy so I wanted to set some “mini” obtainable in a month goals as opposed to more long term ones. To review, here are the three goals I made:

1.) Run 4 days a week

2.) Drink 8 glasses of water a day

3.) Stop negative thinking/pessimistic attitude

aaannnddd here is how I did:

1.) Run 4 days a week (A-) I did this all but one week, where I ran three times. I am happy to say I finally feel like I am starting to get back on track with my workouts. Let’s hope this trend continues and I stay injury free!

2.) Drink 8 glasses of water a day (A+) It has been very hot and humid, so this goal was pretty simple to follow. I think I drank nearly 8 glasses just during and after my runs! I only had a glass of sweet tea at dinner on Friday or Saturday nights, and other than that and sports drinks, it has been water all the way, and not going to lie my face has cleared up a LOT. I have always been that girl that struggles with acne her whole growing up, but between not wearing makeup every day and drinking lots of water, it’s looking pretty good!

3.) Stop negative thinking/pessimistic attitude (B-) Not going to lie, this is still tough for me. It kind of comes and goes in waves. I will do really well for a few days, and be really positive, then something will happen and send me into a temporary tail spin. I am really going to keep working on not letting little things set me off and ruin my day or week, and instead try to learn from the situations and use them as an opportunity for growth.

—————————————–

October Goals:

1.) PR in a half marathon. I have two halfs this month, the first I doubt I will PR in, but the 2nd, I think it’s possible if I continue to work hard to get back to where I was. Reason why I won’t PR in the first one…ok, I guess it’s time to spill the beans. I am going on a cruise right before the half marathon, so Bobby may have to roll be through the course. I am of course VERY excited about my trip (got a great deal!) but the half…oy.

2.) Actually make a craft from Pinterest. I always see and pin the cutest things (especially for the holidays!) but never actually make anything. I am so not crafty, it’s kind of sad. Must remedy this.

3.) Read a book. October is pretty crazy with travel, but reading a book relaxes me, and it also means I am taking time for myself, so this is a good goal for this wild month.

4.) Vlog more.  I vlog here and there, but I want to do it a bit more consistently, at least once a week. I think that’s a good starting point.

QOTD: What is a goal you have for October?

Great goals! I just started vlogging and will start out with once a week too. I have a bad habit of worrying about what other people think. That is something I really need to work on!

I like that your goals weren’t overwhelming! And I have an idea for banishing those negative thoughts (and getting stronger at the same time); every time you catch yourself in the midst of a negative or pessimistic thought, drop and perform 10 pushups! Great incentive to think positive…

I’m a pretty hard core knitter and this month I’m planning on knitting mitts for my daughter (a beautiful, owl inspired pattern) and knee high kilt socks for myself (they look great peeking over the tops of your boots!)

I’d love to see more Vlogs from You! I also need to make a goal of doing a pinterest craft too!! I pin but never complete them! Haha! Spa love!

I have a rather large selection of pinterest bookmarks. It’s quite sad, really. Though, I have yet to hear a cogent argument on why I should actually make one of these crafts instead of just continuing my collection.

I want to run a 5K before my DCL cruise in November where I’m running the Castaway Cay 5K. In preparation, I have also set a goal of running more consistently every week. I’ve been missing a few runs here and there…

So Oct. 21 is my next 5K followed by the CC 5K, the race that got me running.

Great goals! Good luck with the Pinterest projects! I tend to make a lot of recipes I find but have a hard time fitting in the crafts. I have made a few with my girls and have a few in mind since Christmas is approaching. 82 days until Christmas by the way 🙂

YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the kids menu, and singing “Let it Go” with a butter knife while wearing Mickey ears on our Disney cruise. 🚢

When I was 12, I was worried a lot… worried about failing, scared of what people would think of me, and of not fitting in or being “cool”.
I turned 40 this year and have been spending time trying to figure out exactly who I really am with all expectations stripped away. I don’t love the term “finding yourself”, but here I feel like it fits. ✨

Maybe finding yourself means going back to being 12.… and being myself without being scared. Heather at 12 would never believe this version of me… but I think she’d be proud. 💛✨

Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a b Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a birthday onboard a @disneycruiseline ship? 🚢

Emma Kate turned 11 last month during our sailing and we did so many birthday things! She got a ton of “happy birthday’s” from crew and guests to make it extra special. ✨

👉🏻For a link to the birthday ears she wore (they have lots of colors and variations!) comment “EARS” and I will send it to you!

This is 11. ✨🎉 Not sure how this happened, b This is 11. ✨🎉

Not sure how this happened, but time snuck up on me and now I have an 11 year old. 🥹
We couldn’t think of a more fun place to celebrate that on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

She started the day with presents, then hours and hours in the sun on the island, followed by cake and singing at dinner, the tween club, and fireworks at sea! (They were for pirate night but we said they were birthday fireworks!)

Happy birthday to the most fierce, kind, competitive, loyal, funny, and beautiful little girl I know. 🩷 Never change who you are and stop growing up so fast! So. Blessed to have the best title there is, Emma Kate’s mom. 💖

I’ve been adding Incrediwear’s circulation socks and sport socks into my training routine, and they’ve helped me recover faster, reduce soreness, and keep my legs fresh for long runs.
Unlike compression, Incrediwear products actually increase blood flow, which means more oxygen + nutrients where your body needs it most.

And it’s not just athletes who benefit. My dad’s had two knee replacements, and the Incrediwear knee sleeves help him manage swelling, restore mobility, and feel comfortable moving again.

From world-class athletes like LeBron James and Steph Curry to everyday runners (and even my dad!), Incrediwear makes recovery accessible to everyone. 🏃‍♀️💪
