April Rewind

Hi there! Today is a good day. Since Bobby worked from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm yesterday, he isn’t going into work today yay! He still has to make some calls and do some work related things from home, but still. I am excited to get to see him since I literally did not see him until I was going to be last night.

So, I was a crazy person who had no one to talk to all day and evening, so I ran TWICE. yes twice. It was so hot when I ran my first 3 miler that I went back out about 4:00 and ran 2 miles of hills and speedwork. Don’t ask, I don’t have answers.

I also went to a meeting for our neighborhood about a new TV and internet service we will be getting in November. I am still on the fence with how I feel about it. It was fun getting to talk to neighbors and meet new ones though! Also, a heads up, remember the photo shoot we did for the new neighborhood website? it is supposed to launch this month. EEKK!

So I know I am a couple days late, but here is my April rewind! It was quite a busy month!

We kicked off April with a very fun day of Triathlon Spectating! Our neighborhood held our first annual Tri, and we had a blast cheering everyone on!

That weekend my parents also came for a visit. We had fun taking them out on the trails through the woods and hanging out on the porch.

I also felt like I had unpacked enough of the house to share some pictures with you!

We were lucky enough to get to participate in our neighborhood photo shoot and commercial shoot in April, too. You can read about it here.

I did a look back in time to my high school athletic days, so you can laugh at the way I looked. Please don’t make TOO much fun of me!

April was also the month I got into couponing! I have been having a blast trying to save as much as I can. It’s a fun and challenging hobby!

April was also a time of adversity, as I had a run in with a not so nice commenter on my blog. The love and support I received from so many of you was unreal, and I am so thankful for my readers! Once again, yall are amazing!

I also sprung the news that I will be running a half in October with Team in Training! Please consider making even a $5 donation. every little bit helps and I would be SO grateful! (donate here)

April was also the month of Birthday’s around here! My sisters was the 2nd, my dad’s was the 17th, and then my sweet baby Bella had hers!

At the end of April, we to participate in a service project at our church, by helping basically redo the walls of an elderly woman’s home. I love volunteering, it makes you so appreciative of what you have!

We also spent Easter weekend with my family, since I had not been home in two months. We had an amazing weekend and I was sad to leave.

The end of April also FINALLY marked the end of my tedious 6 weeks to 6 pack program. I post before and after pictures as well as my final thoughts on the DVD.

I celebrated the Royal Wedding by sharing some bridal portraits as well as a dream of mine!

Thanks for sticking in there is you read all of this! April was a fun month, hoping May is even better! (wel, it must be because we are going on vacation!)

Easter Weekend 2011

Happy Better Monday everyone! (Get it, Good Friday, better Monday, heh.) I hope you had a fab time with friends and family this weekend. Bobby is off today instead of being off last Friday so we just came home this afternoon from my parents.

Saturday after the service project, we left for my parents house in Louisiana and got there just in time for dinner with them, my sister, and her husband. That was our “Easter meal” because my sister’s husband was going back to Houston in the morning. Good times were had by all.

Sunday morning we went to First Baptist New Orleans with my mom and dad. This is the church where Bobby and I got married, so it was nice to go back and remember!

Yes, I am wearing the yellow dress again. Aren’t I creative?

After church more food as consumed of course! The weather was so beautiful, we were able to sit in the backyard in the shade for a couple hours and hang out, after we all took naps of course! I loved it, I am a big “hang out on the back porch” kind of person, I love being outside talking, etc. so I really enjoyed it. We talked about our upcoming trip which I am so excited about!

The last time I was at my parents house was the beginning of March when I moved out and everything was still dead and winter yuck-brown. It was so neat to see everything at their house so green again!

We ate yet again, and finished up the evening by watching Tangled. I just bought it, and I loved it the first time I saw it and still love it! If you haven’t seen it, you need to. Such a cute movie. Good job Disney. We also watched a little bit of the hornets game (they won! beat the Lakers!)

This morning, We slept in and decided to go for a 6 mile run. The farthest I have gone since the Mardi Gras RnR half where I reinjured my IT band is 4 miles, so I am interested to see what I could do.

WOW it was HOT and HUMID and SUNNY! We didn’t get out there till 9:30 and it was well over 80 degrees and 92% humidity. Bleh! We took it slow but finished and I had no knee pain woo hoo! This is to give you an idea of how gross it was outside…

eeewwww…..ya….and my mom was kind enough to tell me I smelled bad. Thanks mom. I will remember that.

We ate lunch, packed up the car and set out to find an open sno ball stand. Ever since last week when I had that AMAZING Wedding Cake flavored cupcake, I have been craving a Wedding Cake flavored sno ball. It’s probably the only thing that got me through that awfully hot run, knowing I was going to get one after. Sad I know. On the second try we found one about to open right at 12, yay!

2011-04-25121045 2011-04-25121102

YAY! I was quite happy. We drove the hour and 15 minutes home happily eating our well deserved treats while the pups snoozed….then I snoozed when we got home!

Oh, my parents also made us each up an Easter goodie bag. Thanks mom!

QOTD: What did you do for Easter? Visit family? hunt for eggs? eat a lot?

Gloomy hump day in south Louisiana! At least its warm. Sorry northerners, I don’t mean to gloat. Today is a bittersweet day for me, as it is my last full day with my parents before moving to my new house with my husband. I am one of those extremely sentimental people who thinks they are Peter Pan and will never grow up. I had a great childhood and even though I have done the leaving home thing once already, it feels like I am having to do it all over again. I never thought at age 25, married for four years, I would have such a great time living at home again I would be sad to go.

It has been nice getting to see my family everyday, but sad to only see my husband on the weekends. It’s been nice to not have to cook every night, but sad to not have my own kitchen or house. I get along great with my family and am so thankful they have allowed me to live here. I have had my moments where I couldn’t WAIT to get out, but when it comes down to it, I am really going to miss it. You would think I was 18 all over again going away to college! I try not to think about it because it just makes me more sad. I love my family and the house I grew up in.

There are, however, a couple of things that are exciting and fun about this new change in my life. Things are about to be a LOT different. I am about to be in a new town where I know no one or where anything is, and I will have a new house to unpack and settle into.

(they finally painted the railings white! I was starting to wonder…)

It will be fun, exciting, scary, overwhelming, and a big adventure. I never thought we would move, but then again I am not in charge. You know what happens when you try and make your own plans…God laughs. I am a pretty planned out person, so this shaking up of everything I know has been difficult, but I am excited for a new chapter of my life. I am trying to stay focused and not let any anxiety get to me….and eat lots of king cake.

A huge part of health to me is mental health, so I am going to try to achieve a good balance so I don’t go crazy the next couple of weeks! A part of that will be a couple of guest posts coming up this weekend! (moving plus not knowing which day your internet will be hooked up has a role in this. Don’t worry I will be back, with tons of pictures!)

Ok, off to run, then pack. I really mean it this time, I HAVE to pack!!

QOTD: Are you sentimental like me? Do you get along with your family?

Signs of Spring?

Happy Saturday! Today has been a nice relaxing one! I slept until 8:30, then me, Bobby, my mom dad and the puppies went for a 30 minutes walk. its about 72 degrees and beautiful! We ate lunch then me Bobby and my dad went to Menchies for some froyo! I got pistachio and angel food cake with cherries, strawberries, and almonds.

I am really trying not to jinx it, but I am hoping spring is REALLY here and we don’t have anymore cold snaps! My mood is definitely better when the weather is nice. I seriously don’t know how people do it who live where it is cold, rainy and/or gloomy for a good part of the year. I need the sun! Regardless of if the weather stays in the 70’s or not, I am for sure suffering from a case of spring fever!

Bella does NOT like it when I go outside without her! How dare I!

Spring around here also means 5k season. While most of the country is just starting half marathon season, we are wrapping it up. Most half’s around here are between November and February. I can’t even find on in LA or MS past February! I plan to run maybe 2 more 5k’s, and continue to follow the rule I have put into place which is NO 5k’s after May. it really should be after April depending on the weather. I end up running slow because of the heat and ending the season on a sour note with a bad time, and I am determined to not do that this year! I am still looking at races trying to decide which ones I want to run but I am aiming for one in March and one in April if possible.

Half the house is taking a nap and the other half is playing on computers. I think it may be nap time for me, too. I just love a nice lazy weekend! Go enjoy your day, it’s to beautiful here to be inside on the computer!

QOTD: What is the weather like where you live this weekend?

Christmas in Pictures 2010

Today marks one of my, if not my ultimate least favorite day of the year. The day after Christmas. a whole year until Christmas again. How depressing! I will try to cure my sadness by posting pictures from this weekend. We had a blast hanging out with friends and family, and I hope you did, too!

Christmas Eve:

baking all day!

My famous Snickers cookies I make every year:

Dad reading the Christmas story from the Bible:

My mom reading “Cajun Night Before Christmas”

Funny story. While my dad took a nap Christmas eve, Bobby painted my dad’s fingernails and he went all day and had no idea. Bobby, mom and me just kept laughing and he didn’t know why!

Christmas morning, opening presents! Bobby got me a new Bible (I got him one too without knowing!) and her got me an AWESOME new zoom lens for my camera!

Happy Birthday, mom! She is a Christmas baby!

I cannot believe another year has come and gone. I JUST got used to writing 2010! I hope you had a special time with your families, with many great memories! Merry Christmas! I hope you feel as blessed as I do!

QOTD: What was your favorite part about your Christmas?

Merry Christmas 2010

Happy Christmas eve! We have been sitting by the fire, playing Wii, and cooking up a storm down here in Louisiana! I hope everyone is having a fun, relaxing, and special Christmas eve.

Even if your family is getting on your nerves, try to look past it and remember that these are precious moments you can hold in your heart forever. Time with your family is irreplaceable!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas with your loved ones. Enjoy this time together! It’s the most wonderful time of you year!

Merry Christmas!

Love, Bobby, Heather, Bella, and Sassy Montgomery

More Sights of the Season

Happy Christmas eve eve! I hope you are home from work and relaxing with your families! I am sitting by the fire, hanging out with Bobby and my dad (mom is at work) and getting ready to play Wii. We have two Christmas parties to go to tonight, one annual one we go to every year across the street, and the alumni Christmas party for my High School. We are going to be a party hoppin’ couple tonight! The next few day’s won’t have a ton of substance as far as blogging, running, the inner workings of my crazy life, because I will be spending time with my family, and I suggest you do the same, so, get off the computer!!! Smile

Here are a few more pictures from my parents house.

Making Reindeer food

Bella patiently waiting for Santa

Christmas cards!

my dad buys two of these every year!

I caught you, Santa!

Bobby finally got his law school diploma and law license framed. (Ignore all the dog toys)

My mom’s birthday is on Christmas day, so my dad had flowers sent to the house yesterday so she could enjoy them for a few days before her birthday.

Bobby and I ran three miles this morning. It was a little chilly but beautiful and sunny! Now I have more energy and can eat more at the parties tonight. Haha!

Have a great day everyone! I am so excited for my two favorite days of the year!! Tomorrow we will bake all day, and watch Christmas movies and play Wii, then tomorrow night we will read Twas the Night Before Christmas, and the Christmas story from Luke in the Bible.

QOTD: What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

Christmas Rip-Off

This morning, Bobby and I went to the grocery store to stock up on all of my baking essentials for my baking extravaganza! I bake a lot for Christmas for my family, and for fun. Since I am not in my own house this year, I had a lot of ingredients to get. While shopping for M & M’s (there were no more red and green ones!) and Snickers for my famous snickers cookies, I realized that the exact same size bag of “Christmas snickers” and “regular non-Christmas snickers” were different prices!!! Are you KIDDING me? The exact same candy but in “Christmas wrapping” is 60 cents more per bag? I don’t know about you but I think this is a rip off and it makes me so sad because that shouldn’t happen on CHRISTMAS, that’s not the reasons for the season!

Maybe I am getting too worked up about this, but it just really really makes me sad. Well, you can bet what I did. I bought the non Christmas kind. I mean, I am unwrapping them and putting them inside of cookies anyway.

I bought a regular bag of M & M’s and will pick out the red and green ones that I need for my candy! I know I can be quirky, nut really, am I the only one that thinks this is a total rip off? because they know people will buy them?

Ok, I feel better now. Smile After the crazy shopping trip, it was time for the Saints game. Bella did NOT want to watch the game with grandpa.

The Saints fought hard against the Ravens, but being a southern dome team we do not do well in the wind and cold. I think Brees was getting frustrated with the wind changing the ball’s trajectory. Oh well. We will still hopefully be in the playoffs.

Bobby left to go back to work an hour ago, but he will be back Wednesday night and staying through Christmas. Tomorrow I am going to try a short, speedy run and see how I do after yesterday’s run. Have a great night everyone!

QOTD: What “rip off” is your biggest pet peeve?
