Weekly Workout Recap: June Week 1

Another week has come and gone. How is it the second week of June? How is it the sixth month of 2013? Yeesh. Quick recap of a less than stellar and very frustrating workout week. My IT band is still not doing so great. I went to the chiropractor and that helped (active release) but it’s still tight but not as painful. I ran 3 times this week (well, run/walked) 1 mile, 2 miles, and 3 miles. I am going to wait until Tuesday to try again, and hit the treadmill instead od the hills around my neighborhood and see if that helps.

Here is a summary of my week:

Sunday: rest

Monday: 30 minutes elliptical, weights

Tuesday: rest

Wednesday: 1 mile run, weights

Thursday: 45 minutes stationary bike, weights

Friday: 2 mile run

Saturday: 3 mile run

I was doing SO WELL the past couple weeks with my two a days and my hard workouts, so it’s a little frustrating to have a lot of the high intensity come to a screeching halt, but I know I have to rest to heal. I am keeping KT Tape on 24/7 to aid in recovery and healing as well. That’s all I have to report for the day. back to stretching and foam rolling!

QOTD: How do you mental handle a sports injury?

Celebration Recap

Happy weekend! This one couldn’t come soon enough. it has been quite the roller coaster of a week here in the Montgomery household, and I am looking forward to some relaxation.

I just wanted to do a little recap of Bobby’s birthday celebration, just a quick few pictures for you before you go spend time with YOUR family away from the computer (hint hint)

Doberge cake. Best. cake. ever.

On Bobby’s actual birthday Thursday, I surprised him with a mini cake and candle after dinner. He of course loved my rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday To You”

I decorated the house like I do every year, and got him a cheesy card. Our “big gift” to each other is the fancy Inn we are staying at in July at the beach. I did get him a couple fun little things though, I couldn’t resist!

QOTD: Do you ever get more than one birthday cake?

Disney Fantasy April 2013: Part 4

I last left off on part 3 with Bobby wearing my bra. Smile

Did I get your attention? Hehe. The next day, we docked in Costa Maya. We decided to not get off the ship and spend the day taking advantage of the ship with less people. When we sailed here in October, we did the jeep excursion with my parents and had a BLAST, but really there was nothing else on the island we “had” to do and didn’t want to pay for an excursion. We ate breakfast at the buffet then went to the adult pool area/Satellite falls and found some chairs to relax and read in.

We stayed here all morning, and even got to ride the Aqua Duck with about a 10 minute wait. We ate lunch at the buffet and headed back to our chairs for a nice nap. It was a glorious morning!

In the afternoon, we went on the top deck with my stalker camera lens to get some photos of Costa Maya

We then went to the gym for the second time of the trip. We grabbed a snack around 6:00, then relaxed in our room watching movies before getting ready for dinner at PALO! We have done brunch several times but never dinner so we were very excited.

I know this is a short post, but I want to stop here because Palo deserves it’s own post!

QOTD: Thoughts on staying on the ship when it’s in port?

* Don’t forget I can book your cruise for you at NO EXTRA COST! email [email protected] for a free quote!

Bobby’s Thirty!

I am married to someone in their 30’s. I used to think this was SO old, and now it’s happening in my life. Today is Bobby’s 30th birthday!

Isn’t he a stud? I am one lucky gal. I met Bobby when he was the ripe old age of 21. We got married when he was 23, and now I get to make fun of him for two years until I turn 30.

We have had some great times together. He is so silly, and always makes me laugh.

he is also my biggest cheerleader.

We have been celebrating his birthday for a few years now

Bobby’s 25th birthday

And I can’t wait to celebrate many more with him. I love you Bobby, happy 30th birthday!

QOTD: Do you celebrate milestone birthdays a little more than regular ones? (18, 21, 25, 30, 40, etc.)

runDisney Princess News and Registration Information

I have accurate and CONFIRMED information straight from runDisney concerning the Princess half marathon weekend.

photo (39)

It’s almost time! Registration for the runDisney Princess half marathon opens to the public on June 11th. For Annual Passholders and DVC members, it opens tomorrow June 6th*. Not only is the Princess half an amazing and fun race, but this year there is a new component for you to “try on”, the Glass Slipper Challenge.

IMG_1652 - Copy

This challenge consists of running the Enchanted 10k on Saturday, and the Princess half marathon on Sunday (there is also a Cinderella Royal Family 5k, but it’s not part of the challenge.)

runDisney has also made some for-the-better adjustments to how this years race will be run. Folks, they are listening to the runners and care about our happiness and our safety. Check out some of the new information I was given as confirmed:

-The same new features added to marathon weekend 2014 will carry over to Princess such as decreased number of registrants by about 2k (mainly in the half marathon), more and smaller corrals for a better flow and less congestion, and stricter proof of time (everyone running a 3:15 and under will have to offer one).

-The cutoff date for giving runDisney a proof of time will be December 1, 2013. Changes cannot be made at the expo like in previous years.

-The Fit for a Princess health and fitness expo will reclaim it’s throne at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, and will NOT be held at Coronado Springs Resort like it was in 2013.

-All resorts will be host hotels for the event. This means it doesn’t matter where on Disney property you stay, you will get transportation to and from the expo and races!

-There will be a LIMITED number of spots for people registering for Princess that can ALSO register for the Tinkerbell half marathon in Disneyland! This will guarantee your ability to get the awesome new coast to coast medal (see below). Once these spots are gone, you will have to wait until July to register for Tink.

-Runners will receive a special pink coast to coast medal for completing both the Tink half and Princess half in one calendar year. You can also get a second coast to coast medal if you complete another set of coast to coast races such as wine and dine half and the Disneyland half.

*If you would like to register for any of the Princess weekend events, I urge you to NOT WAIT. These races fill up fast, especially with a new challenge being added into the mix. Keep an eye on to see how full the races are, and register ASAP if you have your heart set on running. You will be able to register directly on the rundisney site on the 11th.

QOTD: Will you be registering for Princess and/or the glass slipper challenge? What about Tink? Thoughts on the PINK Coast to Coast?

*I cannot confirm Disney visa early registration or discount, but in the past it has happened!

May Goal Rewind and June Goals 2013

A bit more timely this month with the goals, day four as opposed to ten. I am getting better! Last month, I set a few mini goals for myself and want to review how I did and give you my June goals.

I must say, I rocked this months goals and am pretty darn proud.

1.) Build my running base up to 7-8 miles (A-) I completed a 7 miler, and was SUPPOSED to do an 8 last weekend but thanks to my IT band flare up it didn’t happen. However, I am proud I got to 7 and am building my base back up. Fingers crossed I am back up and running (har har) soon.

2.) Cook a new recipe (A+) I cooked a new spaghetti recipe Bobby and I both ended up really liking, and I know I will make it again. Score!

3.) Back up my photos (A+) We bought an external hard drive and I have put all of my photos on it. Wahoo! I feel better knowing they are safe if my computer dies. Which it better not. I would be sad.

4.) Stretch (B+) The second half of the month was better than the first, and honestly out of necessity. With my IT band acting up, I have been stretching non stop, multiple times a day. Hopefully I will keep at it and be more proactive.

June goals:

1.) Heal my IT band. Pretty self explanatory. I am icing, stretching, foam rolling, and straightening.

2.) Get on track with Dumbo Challenge training. I was supposed to s art my training plan yesterday, but obviously that isn’t happening with my injury, but I would like to get on track this month.

3.) Get back to my happy weight. After the Princess half in February, I took some time off from distance running and hard workouts, so I put on a couple pounds. When I was on vacation and a a work trip for 2 weeks, where I put on a couple more. I really want to get back to my happy weight before we go to the beach in July.

4.) Stop Worrying. Oy. This is a big one for me. May brought a few changes and disappointments, and I am tired of letting my circumstances change my mood so much. Must stop worrying and just be.

QOTD: What is a goal you have for June?

I had a rough day yesterday and didn’t really feel like blogging last night. I did find a couple of quotes I am hanging on tight to as we go through a rough patch. I hope they can help someone else today.

QOTD: what do you do when things just don’t seem to be going your way?

Weekly Workout Recap: May Week 5

This past week was a little different as far as workouts go. You may remember my post recently saying my IT band is angry. Well…it’s still angry. I haven’t run since Tuesday, and I have been stretching and foam rolling all week. Fingers crossed I will be back on my feet in a few days. This is putting a damper on the training plan I was supposed to start tomorrow!

This weekend we went to my parents for the weekend for an early celebration of Bobby’s 30th birthday. We went out to dinner Saturday night. Let’s just say I didn’t eat so healthy this weekend!

Here is a look at my workouts for the week:

Sunday: rest

Monday: 35 minutes stationary bike, weights, yard work

Tuesday: 3.1 mile run, weights, 45 minutes elliptical

Wednesday: 35 minutes elliptical, 45 minutes stationary bike

Thursday: weights, 45 minutes stationary bike

Friday: rest

Saturday: rest

I definitely didn’t plan three rest days, but my knee was throbbing just standing up, so I thought it was what my body needed. Hopefully this week will be better! photo (1)

QOTD: Do you go out to eat or eat your favorite meal at home for your birthday?

June Lookback 2012

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We are actually celebrating Bobby’s birthday with family this weekend so I will be enjoying time with them and not online as much.

Today I wanted to do a little flashback to where I was and what I was doing this time last year, the end of May/beginning of June 2012.

I was chosen by Women’s Running Magazine as a Blogger on the Run.

We had a fun Memorial Day weekend and worked in the yard, just like this year!

I got serious posting about leaking what you love

I set some goals for June.

It’s so much for for me to look back on what I was doing a year ago! It helps keep me grounded and humble, and is fun to reminisce, it doesn’t seem THAT long ago!

QOTD: What were you doing last June?
