Weekly Recap: June Week 4

Good morning! Sunday already wow. The weekend sure is flying by, but I did get in a good 6 mile run in an hour on Friday!

I saw lots of people racing this weekend thanks to Facebook and Twitter. Bobby did great in his duathlon yesterday and shaved 5 minutes off of his time from the last one a month ago. Yay Bobby!

(taken with my Blackberry Z10, it takes great movement shots!)

We had a lazy day yesterday after the race, I even ended up taking a long nap, it was wonderful. Let’s take a look at my workouts for the week.

Sunday: rest

Monday: 5 mile run, upper body weights

Tuesday: 45 minute power walk

Wednesday: 2 miles speed work

Thursday: upper body weights, 45 minutes stationary bike

Friday: 6 mile long run

Saturday: rest

I got a massage for my IT band on Thursday as well as some active release from my chiropractor. It’s still sore, but hoping that in the long run it helps! I am so far behind in my training for Dumbo. This week calls for a lot more stretching and foam rolling, as well as a 7 mile run. I have a feeling it will be on the treadmill with the heat we have been having lately. Have a great day everyone!

QOTD: Would you rather have three wishes that had no catches or six wishes with minor catches?

Disclosure: I was provided with a wireless device and free service, all opinions are however my own

Beach update + Another Duathlon

Good morning! So sad a week ago I was in Georgia having a blast. Time really does fly when you’re having fun. Speaking of Saturday, next Saturday we leave for the BEACH! Yes, every summer we go to Destin because Bobby has an annual bar conference and has to take continuing legal education classes to keep his law license. We have stayed somewhere different every year and I am stoked about where we are staying this year, but more on that later. It’s super nice and an early birthday gift for me and late one for Bobby. I can’t wait!

Last year at the beach

Today, I am heading out with Bobby again for another duathlon. It’s in the same place as the last one he did, it’s a summer series and this is number 3 in the series (me missed number one, oops.) We were blessed with amazingly cool weather for the one in May, but I don’t think we will be so lucky today. I will let you know how it goes. We have a friend from college who was an usher in our wedding who stayed here last night and is going to race with Bobby. Should be a fun day!

Nothing exciting planned for Sunday, just hanging out with Bobby and probably doing a little cleaning. I have been on a roll lately throwing things away and cleaning out closets. Nothing is safe!

QOTD: What are you doing this weekend?

Disney Fantasy Part 6: April 2013

We left off with a great day in Cozumel on my last installment. The next day, was a sea day, and had big plans to do a lot of nothing. We slept in, ate breakfast, and headed to the pool where we parked all morning with our books. We ate lunch and then played goofy golf! Look who even made an appearance. I was VERY excited.

The wind had started to pick up making it very hard to play. After we ate a buffet lunch, the clouds started to roll in.

I want to say at some time during the day we say Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D, and I’m sure we took a nap at some point. Honestly it was just a lazy day and so wonderful! (I think we made it to the gym, too?)

By evening, the rain had started and the boat was doing a little rocking which made me nervous, but wasn’t too bad. They closed off some of the decks for a little while because it was so dangerous with the wind.

It was semi formal night, so we got all gussied up to go to dinner at the Royal Court.

This is Bobby’s favorite night of the cruise, because it’s lobster night! He had four or five…I can’t remember.

He was a happy boy.

After dinner we headed back to the adults area to watch a comedian before calling it a night.

Up next week: Our last day. Castaway Cay!

QOTD: What would be your ideal sea day?

Y. Your favorite food? Cheese. I love. cheese.

Z. Zodiac sign? I think cancer but I don’t believe in that sort of thing.

QOTD: Answer one of the above questions!

Sugar Detox

It’s no secret I am addicted to sugar. I have always loved candy and chocolate, ice cream and brownies…and sweet tea.

I workout a lot, yes, but I am also well aware that my eating habits are not always as they should be. I am STILL having issues getting rid of a couple of pesky pounds from the cruise and vacation, so I know exercise is just not enough for me right now.

I am taking drastic (for me) measures….I am laying off the sugar for a whole week to see if it helps me. YIKES! I know some of you are probably going “geez Heather, that’s super easy, what’s the big deal?” Oh, friends. If only you knew how bad the addiction is….

I know when some people sugar detox they get rid of ALL forms of any kind of sugar. Well folks, that would be a surefire way to see my head start spinning, followed by lots of crying and name calling.

I started on Monday, and decided to not completely shock my system I would still eat things like fruit, etc, but steer clear of snacks like candy with sugar, cookies, and the like. I also allowed myself to put my flavored creamer in my coffee, but that’s it. I was doing ok on Monday until after dinner when I usually have a sweet dessert…I got really cranky and tried to distract myself so I wouldn’t think about it. I am crossing my fingers I can make it through the whole week without a slip up!

What are your secrets for dealing with a sugar detox? I would love to hear!

QOTD: Any sugar detox tips? Do you struggle with this like I do?

Kid at Heart

The following post is sponsored by Fitfluential LLC on behalf of Vitafusion.

I am a kid at heart. I like to act goofy, sing in the car, I enjoy Disney World immensely, and make silly faces whenever possible, much to my family’s dismay.

Being such a kid, it’s no wonder I jumped for joy when asked to try out MultiVites by Vitafusion.

photo (18)

Berry, peach, and orange goodness that pack a powerful punch in just two gummies per day, making taking vitamins enjoyable. The problem is, one flavor gets left out every day. Sad times. I try to rotate to make things fair.

photo (17)

I am not a huge fan of swallowing what I like to call “horse pills” so these little guys are right up my alley. I also have a bad habit of never having water around when taking pills, so the gummies eliminate the need for water. Hooray!

These vitamins are available for all life stages (check out the L’il critters, Pre Natal, men’s, women’s, platinum 50+, and sour flavor!) and are make with natural flavors, right here in the USA. Also, they are easy to find nationwide at stores like Target, Wal-Mart, Costco, and  CVS.

One serving contains as much Vitamin A as one cup of broccoli, as much vitamin C as a tangerine, and as much vitamin D3 as 3 ounces of Salmon, which is great for me since I don’t eat fish. They are also a great source of folic acid, and vitamins B6 and B12. They also support immune health and your metabolism.

Supplement Facts

I typically take one vitamin in the morning, and then one after lunch. It’s easy for me to remember because I WANT to take them since they are so good!

#nutritiontastesgood is the hashtag if you are looking for more info on this product.

QOTD: Do you take a vitamin? What about a gummy vitamin?

Random Reminders

Excuse my short post I am on my way home from Georgia, but thankfully because I have a mobile hotspot on my Blackberry Z10, I can blog form the car with ease. Wahoo!  You should really check this phone out. Way cooler than Blackberry’s of old! Check out my review post for the Blackberry.

Ok, now for some random reminders as I play catch up on work today:

1.) Monster’s University is in theaters now! I haven’t had a chance to go see it yet, but don’t worry I will. I LOVED the first movie so can’t wait for this one.

You can like the Facebook page and also visit their website for clips and other info.

2.) You an still sign up for the runDisney Princess half marathon! Don’t wait and forget, go ahead and do it now! I will be able to book packages for people as soon as 2014 prices come out, which should be soon. Right now I can only book room only reservations based on 2013 prices which will then change.

3.) I just bought the book Divergent. Thoughts? I have heard good and bad reviews. Anyone read it?

4.) Surviving a car trip with my parents and husband requires coffee and lots of singing. We had a great time, and I am sad it went by so quickly! I love my fam!

Weekly Workout Recap: June Week 3

Good morning from Georgia! We go home today, so sad. It was such a quick trip but hope to come back and visit soon.

We have had a wonderful time. Sadly, I didn’t workout at all while we were here, but that’s ok my body probably needed the break. Here is what I did this week:

Sunday: rest

Monday: 3 mile run

Tuesday: 45 minutes stationary bike, upper body weights

Wednesday: 3 mile run

Thursday: rest

Friday: rest

Saturday: rest

Definitely not a great workout week, so I will be hitting it hard this week. I have got to start building my mileage back up. My right knee is STILL somewhat sore, but I am going to keep foam rolling and stretching!

QOTD: Do you cut yourself slack with workouts on vacation?

Georgia on My Mind

Happy Saturday! This weekend we are visiting the Atlanta area with my family. Most of you probably don’t know this, but I lived in the suburbs of Atlanta for nearly seven years as a small child. We came back to do some business and visit with some old friends and are having a great time so far! (Hence why I have been so scarce on social media!)

We did some driving around today, so much has changed since I was here ten years ago. I really enjoyed Suwanee, what a beautiful area!

Tomorrow we have some things planned, and we are looking forward to a great day. I will be back on Sunday and will get back to a normal routine with posting etc. Have a good one!

QOTD: Who all lives in the Atlanta area? Do you like it?

Disney Fantasy Part 5: April 2013

My last trip entry was our delicious dinner at Palo. The next day was Cozumel day! We knew exactly where we were heading, our favorite spot: Paradise Beach. We have been here I think four times or so, and we love it. You pay two dollars for a chair/umbrella, and get to use the beach and the pool. They have other optional add on’s for a fee as well. Not to mention, they have a GREAT menu with lots to choose from, and super clean bathrooms.

We were some of the first people off the boat and ended up walking accidentally with one of the shore excursion groups. It was funny, we were just right in the thick of them. The nice part about it was when we were walking through the outdoor mall part, none of the vendors bugged us because they knew the tour group wouldn’t stop for them to shop so they didn’t waste their breath. Must remember this for next time as well!

We hopped in a taxi and were literally the first ones there I think!

We headed out to the beach first and decided we would hit the pool a bit later after lunch.

I don’t know.

You can pay an additional fee and have use of all of the water toys!DSC_0841

We relaxed in the chairs and I enjoyed a yummy Tidal wave.

We got hungry after an hour or so, and decided to go eat lunch up at the tables near the pool and then hang out there for awhile. I love the view of the pool and the ocean from the tables, and it’s a nice shady area to eat. I had some yummy quesadillas and another drink.

We hung out in the enormous pool for awhile, and I even took an amazing nap in my chair. Talk about a great place for a nap! We stayed until about 3:00 and decided we had been out in the sun long enough.

We hated to say goodbye to our favorite Cozumel spot though!

We took a taxi back to the port and saw the beautiful Fantasy again.

If you are ever in Cozumel and are looking for a great but inexpensive place to relax for the day, I highly recommend Paradise Beach! I would love to answer any questions you have. Also, be sure to check them out on Facebook for more pictures!

That night was Pirate night. AAARRGGHH!

We enjoyed dinner, and were able to watch the fireworks from our balcony in our room! I was way too tired and full to go to the Pirate Buffet so Bobby went without me and brought his food back to the room.

Of course he had to get a turkey leg.

I think I was asleep before he even started eating. It was a long day in the sun!

QOTD: Beach or pool?
