Is that…the SUN?!?

So I have been suffering from the winter blues lately. It has been so darn cold and overcast here. If you are form up north, like, Seattle or something (or FORKS maybe, for all you twilight fans?!?) please, explain to me, how you get ANYTHING done?! This weather is so depressing, and it makes me feel tired and sluggish and I just want to snuggle up with my puppies and a book and do nothing.
I have heard of those lights that are supposed to help with your mood, do people really use those? Someone please enlighten this southern girl!!! Well, point being, well, two points actually…the first, tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and 60 YAY! I just may get to run outside!!! Second point, I thought, since the weather was so depressing, I would think of a list of things that make me happy and share them with you. so, here are a few in no particular order.

1. Disneyworld. I am obssessed with the place. wanna get me in a good mood, take me. now.

2. puppies. I LOVE puppies. how can you not smile when you see a puppy yawn?

3. a good run. I love the endorphins and feeling after a really great run, I feel great all day!

4. sweet tea. This is a must at least once every weekend. not only do I love it but it makes me bounce off the walls which is fun.

5. My husband. he is so silly. he makes me smile.

6. smoothie king smoothies. esp. slim n trim strawberry. its the bomb.com

7.a clean house. WHEW do I feel so much better and happier when my house is clean. anyone wanna come do it for me?

8. sleeping. I love to sleep. My dad says I get it from my mom’s side of the family. I could sleep 10 hours every night and not wake up once.

9. Christmas. Ok now I am sad….because it’s over for the year..wait! this list is supposed to make me happy! defeating the purpose here…ok moving on!

10. The color pink. It’s just so cheery! If someone gives you anything pink (well, maybe not ANYTHING…) you have to be happy! It’s a rule that I just made up.

So, with that being said, on this gloomy day, give someone something pink, (a smoothie maybe? a Christmas ornament? a puppy..wait…) go for a run, or sleep 10 hours, and be happy!!!! Life could be so much worse.

…and then life gets in the way.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to work and could just workout whenever we want? One of my biggest struggles is making time to run. By nature, I am a morning runner. I have more energy, I get it over with and just perform better. fact.
Also fact, I leave for work at 6:30. so if I were to get up and run I would have to get up at 4:15 or so…and that would not be fun. I so wish soemtimes I had a job with a lunch break, or a job where I didn’t have to be in until 9, so I could get up at a reasonable hour and run.
But, unfortunately, I am not so lucky. Maybe someday! So, back to my problem. When I run in the afternoons I am lucky to get in 3 miles. I ahve to get home to let the dogs out, I also coach basketball so some nights I can’t make it to the gym at all, etc. etc. So what do you do? I am just SO TIRED by the time I leave work it’s hard to wlak to the car let alone get to the gym. Oh, I also forgot to mention, me going to sleep at 8 so I can get up at 4 is not an option. my husband gets home from work at 8:30 so I would never get to see him, the dogs freak out when he comes home and would wake me up anyway etc. SO WHAT DO I DO?!? thoughts?
What do you do?

Oh, by the way, the whole reason i wrote this is because I went to the gym yesterday and only had time for 2 miles before I had to get back to the school to coach…then i got home late so i went to bed late so I am exhausted today so no run. (not to mention I have 3 errands to run) Why can’t we all just RUN?!? (sometimes I want to run away haha)
sometimes when I am leaving for work and see the women out at 6:30-6:45 running I want to push them down…no just kidding, but I am super jealous!

First run post race

Well, I did what I kinda did kinda didn’t want to do…I ran the whole half marathon, minus a few water stops and when the hubby had to use the bathroom…so now I prooved to myself I can do it, which means next time I am whining about a short 3 mile run..I really can’t because well…I ran 13.1 miles!
I do this to my kids all the time (I teach 5th grade) they will perform poorly on several tests, I will tell them they are not working up to their potential. The, they turn around and make an A. That;s when I catch them. ah HA! I KNEW you could do it. NOW, I expect nothing less than that.
Well, that’s kinda how I feel, except, I did it to myself! All this being said, I am heading to the gym for my first post race run and I am actually a little nervous! It will have to be a short one because I have to go coach a basketball game after, but, I know I will have to run the whole time 🙂

Ow my aching….everything!

Yesterday and today have been pretty painful. Climbing stairs has been the worst. We didnt stretch after the race (shame shame) because it was raining and freezing and we just wanted to get back to the room. Well I am paying for it today! Hips and hip flexors are killing me!

We are driving back to my parents now, then home tomorrow and I will start working on my race recap!

Record setting lows…and sleet!

Oh. My. Gosh.
I ran my first half, the Disney half this morning. What an experience!! Because we are so lucky, we ran on a day of record breaking lows! We also ran in sleet and freezing rain pelting us in the race!!
I will do a full race recap when I get home, but I just wanted to say I did it! I was trying not to cry as I crossed the finish line. The weather made it miserable!!

We ended up running in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Goal was 2:30 but considering the conditions I am not upset.

More to come, but boy do I feel accomplished!!! I DID IT!!

On the road again..

So ww have been on the road since 3:30 and it’s now 11:00. Ug! Good news we are a couple hours from Disney and two days till the race! The weather is still not cooperating… 40% chance rain and high of 42! This will be a good test of my mental toughness!
Sorry this is a short post but I am on my iPhone!

Almost that time…

well, tomorrow is the day we leave (well, kinda today) We head to my parents today, then drive the rest of the way to Orlando tomorrow morning at 3:30, yes, 3:30 am! I am starting to get nervous. As I was standing out in the cold this morning, I thought to myself… “it will be colder than this the morning of the race.” BBRR!!!

My hip is giving me a little trouble this morning, so hopefully that isn’t a bad sign for the race.

For breakfast I had some almonds, a glass of milk with some protein powder, and a granola bar. I need to start taking pics, I am still new at this thing!

On a happy note, I think some of my Christmas weight is slowly coming off….I was hovering right at a certain weight for like…3 weeks because of all the junk I had been eating, and I have been trying to avoid all that junk and so I am starting to go back to what I was before Thanksgiving…slowly…

by the way, in case anyone cares, I am a HUGE chocolate fan, sweets fan, oh yes. i cannot live without sugar. So do not be alarmed when and if I list any foods I had if I list some not so healthy things. I try to have a balance, but I must have sugar in my life!!!

What Have You Done Today?

Confession time: One of my favorite TV shows is the Biggest Loser. A new season starts tonight and I am stoked. I love seeing people get healthy, learn how to eat right and exercise, and love themselves again. I would LOVE to have Jillian scream at me! I learned in High School I am best motivated when I am angry. Once my basketball coach figured that out…well, you get the idea! Some people thought he was being mean to me, but I loved it. He knew just how to light a fire under this girl!
I understand not everyone does well this way but man, I just get all excited watching Jillian tell someone she is going to rip their arm off and beat them over their head with it!!
This brings me to my point, motivation. I really struggle with it. A lot of the BL contestants go home, have no one motivating them, and gain their weight back. One of the reasons I wanted to do this blog was accountability. I need something, someone, to keep me going, scream at me in a sense, and keep me inspired.
So, I encourage you to find out what motivates you, and go for it! Use it to your advantage!! What have you done today to make YOU feel proud?!

I ran for 25 minutes, how bout you?!?

Hello world!

Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your first post. Edit or delete it and start blogging!

Baby it’s….still FREEZING outside!

So the temp for the half has gone DOWN not up, yikes! I am so cold natured as it is, I fear I will freeze!!! My husband of course is hot natured and he freezes me out at home!

So my new favorite thing is yoplait smoothies from the freezer section. there are 3 greats flavors (strawberry banana is my fav) all you do is add a cup of milk and they make two smoothies. LOVE THEM! I add a scoop of protein powder and it’s a great breakfast!

they also don’t cost a lot, and it’s just so simple to do. Try them now!!!

for lunch i am having turkey, pretzels, a piece of chocolate, and some cheese puffs from the “organic” section of the store. I will let you know how they taste…
