Motivation with Moto 360 Sport

March 1, 2016 | blogging, fitness, Giveaway, health, motivation, running, running gear, technology

Motivation can be such a tricky thing. Not everyone is motivated by the same things, and sometimes it can be hard to figure out what gets you going personally. I have had t try many different tactics to keep me motivated to stay fit and healthy, and honestly I have realized that it’s not just one thing for me.

Wanting to set a good example for my daughter, having group accountability, and keeping track of progress are all good motivators for me. My toddler is a little to young to go run with me (haha) but I still try to get a good example by being active with her, going on walks, and playing outside. I joined a boot camp class for motivation in a group setting (it’s expensive so I go simply to not waste money, if nothing else), and I keep track of data like my steps walked, heart rate, calories burned, and run stats because seeing progress is definitely motivating.

I have used many different things in the past few years to help keep track of my stats, and the new Moto 360 Sport watch is by far the coolest thing!

motivation

Right out of the box, I knew I was going to like this watch because it is a good size. I have other touch screen watches but the faces have been really big, so this guy is ahead of his time by having all the same technology but in a sleeker design. The flame orange is pretty awesome to me, but if it’s not your favorite, the Moto 360 Sport also comes in white and black.

So let’s start with the obvious for me, all about the numbers for this data and running geek. This watch gives it all to you without having to carry your phone. The top left number on the above photo is how many minutes I have moved that day, the bottom lest is my calorie burn, top right is steps walked, and bottom right is the second hand for the clock. The clock face I had my watch on is the “sport” one, and as you can see I can easily hit ONE BUTTON….START from the main screen and start my run. It will track all the stats of a regular GPS watch as well as heart rate and time spent in different heart rate zones, but that is just the beginning!

Music on the run? Sure! There are 4 GB of space and it is compatible with Spotify which is awesome (love the integration!) Oh, speaking of integration, it is also compatible with programs you may already use like FitBit, Map My Run, and Strava.

moto 360 sport watch

Check out the cool charging dock, just set it inside the cradle. I have to charge it nightly because it has so many cool features always running, but that’s ok, it’s totally worth it!

I downloaded Android Wear™ which allowed me to sync up my watch so that I can check traffic, weather, get social media or email notifications, and even text messages!

The watch itself is very durable, make of silicone that doesn’t absorb sweat while ventilation channels keep you cool. The Motorola AnyLight display is really brilliant. It’s the world’s first hybrid screen and you can read the display even in bright sunlight because it adapts to the light level around it. So cool.

Another really cool aesthetic is the ability to change the watch face. There are tons to choose from, like this gorgeous blossom option.

moto sport watch face

Now, I don’t know about you but I think that is MOTOvating! If you are a numbers + technology geek like me, then you should give this watch a shot. Maybe it could be a good motivator for you like is has been for me.

Whatever it may be, I hope you can find something that MOTOvates you to get and stay healthy. We all need a reason to keep on keeping on, it’s so important! Reading blogs and having people encourage me has also been a big help, so if any of you ever need a little motivational boost, I will be happy to help you out, so feel free to email me anytime. But for now, check out this awesome video that will tell you a little more about the Moto 360 Sport watch.

You can purchase your own watch at Motorola.com, Best Buy, Nordstrom, Amazon, Google Play, Verizon.com, and at the Moto Shop in downtown Chicago.

To help get you MOTOvated, Motorola is giving away FOUR watches! Simply follow the rafflecoptor instructions below. Good luck!

I have been searching for motivation post partum and really struggle with making the time on top of energy to do it. My son motivates me, but my drive to feel good is also there pushing me

I stay motivated by running with a partner. I also do group classes as well. I suck at exercising alone!

Since I live in FL it’s not the cold that makes winter training hard for me. Instead it’s all the extra commitments that seem to come up during that time period. Combined with holiday travel I tend to fall off in my training and then have to play catch up during race season. I try to stay motivated by keeping up with my numbers; I am definitely a numbers geek.

  7. Jen A says

    March 1, 2016 at 5:23 am

My running slips in winter due to the darkness and cold. I try to stay motivated by hitting 10k steps a day even if it is just a lot of trips to the water cooler at work!

  8. Sally says

    March 1, 2016 at 5:32 am

I tend to do bettering the spring, winters just aren’t fun. Looking forward to my race calendar this year. And having three girls who all play sports keeps me in shape too.

  9. Stephanie says

I live in Wisconsin so the treadmill becomes my best friend during the winter months. Signing up for a big race also helps kept me motivated.

I live in central Florida so the winter time is my favorite time to get out and run! Summertime is when I need the #MOTOvation
    This watch looks amazing!

  11. Tristin says

    March 1, 2016 at 6:28 am

I try to stay motivated in the winter. I do most of my runs, especially during the winter, on the treadmill. I want my girls to see that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, as long as you put in the work.

This watch looks awesome. I like the Fitbit integration too

  13. Danielle says

    March 1, 2016 at 6:59 am

My MOTOvation through the winter is just wanting to spend some time outside! I hate being cooped up in the house so much through the winter!

  14. Samantha says

    March 1, 2016 at 7:03 am

Wow that watch is awesome! I love that the second hand is like that! I hate being cold so winter running isn’t my favorite but I just think about how much better I’ll feel and I can usually make myself get out the door. Running has been my go to stress reliever throughout nursing school so I know I NEED to get in a run in order to study better and not go crazy! This winter I’m engaged so the motivation to feel confident in my wedding dress has been motivation for me!

  15. Heather says

    March 1, 2016 at 7:12 am

I try to stay motivated to keep active and running so I can keep eating 😉 I have a poor diet and basically run to eat my favorite foods! Motivation is making sure my jeans fit!!!

I just feel so much better over all when I get a workout in! Especially when it’s first thing in the morning. And, with two kids, running is MY time and much needed. 🙂

I love the face on the watch, it’s so pretty! Do you need to wear a chest strap to monitor heart rate or does it use your pulse?

    • Heather says

      no chest strap!

  18. Kandi says

  19. Ana says

    March 1, 2016 at 8:07 am

It had been really difficult to stay motivated this time around, but usually having a race as a goal helps me stay motivated.

  20. Blake G says

    March 1, 2016 at 8:19 am

Having a specific goal… race, time, steps, etc… help keeps me motivated. This watch looks awesome- I’ve been looking for a new GPS watch and will definitely have to check it out.

  21. Heather says

    March 1, 2016 at 8:33 am

I keep a calendar on the fridge with my workouts written on each day. This way if I am trying to get out of working out because “I dont know what to do” I look at the calendar. No excuses!!

  22. Joe says

    March 1, 2016 at 8:35 am

I’ve been looking at the Moto 360. It’s hard to stay motivated since I’ve changed from iOS to Android and no longer have an Apple Watch. I guess I just like all the numbers!

  23. Emily Kristen says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:10 am

Love the idea of this! I have a basic Fitbit and sometimes have to wear a watch or a running watch with it so I love that this is everything in one item!

  24. Tara says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:20 am

I register for spring races to keep me running in the winter. If I pay for the race, I better pay for it.

  25. Jennifer Z. says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:39 am

Ohhhh pretty! I love me some running technology! I actually LOVE winter running. I stink at running in the heat, so I take advantage of our cooler weather and run, run, run while I can.

  26. Rebecca Jo says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:40 am

I have been on the hunt for a good tracking watch & havent heard of this one. I’m so intrigued.
Yep – I keep up at home during the winter. Cant slack off or summer is like a slug

  27. Korey says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:47 am

I’ve kept motivated this winter by buying a summer bathing suit that’s been prominently displayed. Sometimes that cold has been hard to overcome but with the right layers and that suit in view it’s been a good season!!

  28. Amy Z. says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:50 am

I’d love to use this for running! During the winter I try to keep running indoors on the treadmill, and I stay motivated by running with a friend.

  29. Erica says

    March 1, 2016 at 9:56 am

Keeping my current fitness level is enough to motivate me. I’ve worked so hard to get to this point. I’d be so sad to lose it.

That watch looks neat. I’m on the market for a new one so I’ll definitely be looking into it further.

  30. Anna says

    March 1, 2016 at 10:48 am

I stay fit over the winter by group exercise classes. I like body pump and spin class. I live in the south so I can run outside sometimes too. I prefer to be outside but when the weather doesn’t permit it as much, I like the group environment. I am ready to run and bike more and a cool watch like that would definitely motivate me to move more!

  31. Lisa C. says

    March 1, 2016 at 10:54 am

I had never heard of this watch! It looks very cool. For me, it’s easier to stay motivated to run in the winter because I live in Florida and that’s really the only time we have a break from the heat and humidity!

  32. Maureen C. says

    March 1, 2016 at 11:05 am

My only motivation is to not be completely miserable during my spring running season! Sometimes that’s not enough, so I’ve taken a page out of you book and have also started doing boot camp classes. The group accountability is great!

  33. Carrie Ann says

    March 1, 2016 at 11:16 am

I haven’t heard about this watch, but I am always up for numbers tracking! Numbers are a huge motivator. I love to track things!

I enjoy working out and keeping up with my progress

  35. Andrea De La Cruz says

    March 1, 2016 at 11:26 am

I used the Fitbit for a while and stopped. It was a great motivator because I have friends and family members that challenged me. I just stopped. I want something that can track my course so I can use that again to see the miles I have ran.

I found the best way to keep motivated over the winter is to schedule an early spring or late winter (February/March) race. Preferably somewhere warm!

  41. Amanda says

    March 1, 2016 at 3:13 pm

I had to stay motivated through January, as I was running the Dopey Challenge – that was motivation! Now that I don’t have any upcoming race (well, until September) it’s been a little harder to get out there and get in my runs.

  42. Mindy (Road Runner Girl) says

I’ve been trying to find the right fitness watch for me, and I may have just stumbled upon it!

Motivation is such tricky business. With a seven month old, it’s easy to lose track of time. However, I know that I am the only person who can show him what it means to be a happy mom, and health is a huge part of that.

  44. Melissa says

    March 1, 2016 at 6:47 pm

Keeping a race is the calendar is big motivation for me…I don’t rely on a fitness watch..I’m lucky to have someone keep track on long runs for me. I do run into a bit of a snag when I’m going alone…

It has been easy this winter because the weather here in MS has been so mild (as you know). My motivation has been to get out and give my baby some fresh air, since I mostly run with the jogging stroller!

  50. Kim Henrichs says

  56. Dorena says

    March 4, 2016 at 9:41 pm

I stay motivated in the winter by owning a treadmill so I don’t have to go outside in the cold weather to run/walk. When I don’t want to workout I just think of why I started working out in the first place. Also, by following people like, yourself, on social media helps me stay motivated. Reading what others are doing and feeling helps out a lot.

This winter I have been terrible about running. (And it wasn’t even that cold in PA this winter!) Usually, I do my best running in chillier temps, but this just wasn’t the winter for me. :-/

  58. Sara says

I’m not suggesting you go into debt to go on vac I’m not suggesting you go into debt to go on vacation. But I am suggesting you remember that time is something you can’t get back, and memories are something that will stay with you longer than things. 🚢

As we enter the holiday season, maybe it’s time to consider that long overdue vacation instead of quite so many things under the tree? Maybe a few less items for some time away to rest and recharge with loved ones?

@disneycruiseline is great for just that because they truly have something for everyone, from babies, kids, to adults. The cruise we just went on included beach time, pool time, an obstacle course, lots of eating, basketball, foosball, ping-pong, movie, watching, scavenger hunt finding, pirates (the nice kind!), ice cream, and so much more. ✨🫶🏻

Always happy to answer questions about the most magical cruise line around!

🚢 A vacation should actually feel like a vacati 🚢 A vacation should actually feel like a vacation right? I hear too many people coming home from vacations with their kids that say they are exhausted and now need another vacation from their vacation.

This is why I love @disneycruiseline. 💖

They have kids clubs included in the price of your cruise fare* that are open for a lot of the day and late into the night. This allows for adults only time at the adults only pool, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Not to mention, the kids absolutely have a blast. Mine never wanted to leave! 🫶🏻

it’s a win-win situation in my book. They get to go have some fun with other kids, and I get to relax and recharge on my vacation, and then we can also spend quality family time together as well! ✨

Send this to someone you are trying to convince to go on a DCL cruise with you! 😏

There are so many great businesses with employees that make you feel like family. Here are a few we visited over fall break. Be sure to save this for your next visit to the beach! Have you been to any of these places? 🍊

@coastalorangebeach: Not only a beautiful restaurant right on the gulf with amazing food, drinks, and servers, but also a really great store with amazing merch! We found some great stuff. If you go to the restaurant, ask for J-Mac to be your server and make sure to get a bushwhacker with a peanut butter floater! 😋

@florabama_olerivergrill : Right on the bama/Florida line, this fun restaurant boasts beautiful sunsets, a fun cocktail menu (the key lime colada was amazing!) and you can even rent pontoon boats and jet skis from the marina, or take a dolphin cruise! 🐬

@theorangebeachstore : I’ve passed this store 100 times but this was my first time inside and now I’m mad that I have been missing out all this time. They have a beautiful selection of really nice souvenirs from great brand names you already know and love. Great quality clothing and other things like blankets, cup, hats, and candles. I shopped forever!

@fbyachtclub_ : The Flora Bama Yacht club is also right on the state line on the bay side and has fun live music, a really nice menu including crab claws, hummus, chicken pasta, and key lime pie. Service was great and we loved the live music.
