Disclosure: We were provided with a comped stay in our cabin from Smoky Cabins, however, all opinions are my own.
When we went up to East Tennessee, we knew we wanted “the best of both worlds.” It worked out beautifully for us to be able to stay in the middle of all the action in Pigeon Forge for a few days and go, go, go, and then drive up into the mountains to Townsend where we spent three nights in a beautiful and relaxing cabin.
Our cabin was named “Southern Dream”, and is rented by Smoky Cabins. First, let me tell you a little about this particular cabin, and then I will go into detail as to why Smoky Cabins was a GREAT rental company to work with!
Southern Dream is located in a gated (at night) golf course community about 35 minutes outside of Pigeon Forge. It’s also in a bear sanctuary, and we were able to see a black bear on our last day there! We had a lovely view of the golf course and mountains from both levels of the house but spent most of our time on the upstairs deck.
Every morning my dad and I would sit and watch the sun come up while we drank coffee and waited on everyone else to wake up.
Aside from the view, we also loved how spacious and clean the house was. This particular cabin had two masters, one downstairs with a luxurious bathroom, and one on the main level. There was also a third floor with a loft and full bath, and the sofa turned into a bed, making this cabin ideal for multigenerational families like ours.
The kitchen, living room and dining room were all very open with huge windows so you could see the view.
There was also a screened in porch off the main floor with a gas grill. We cooked burgers one night, and steaks another night. It was perfect!
There was also a laundry room downstairs. It was so nice to not have to overpack since we could wash clothes.
We absolutely loved this cabin and would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Now, a little more about Smoky Cabins. They have around 40 rentals all across the area, from studio and one-bedroom to 4+ bedroom, and even pet-friendly cabins. We also loved that the cabins came fully equipped with everything we needed so we didn’t have to bring a lot of things from home. (Not to worry if you need something, there are stores nearby!)
Our particular unit also had a starter supply of things like paper towels, soap, laundry detergent, etc. We had all major appliances plus coffee maker, plus dishes, flatware, and even wine glasses! It was also adorably decorated for fall which I loved.
I have high standards when I travel, and I was VERY impressed with how clean and well maintained the cabin was. Smoky Cabins does a great job of cleaning and making sure everything is in good working order for its guests.
The check-in and check out process was also super easy. They emailed us a code for the front door a couple of days prior to arrival as well as directions to the cabin, turn by turn in case we couldn’t get our GPS to work in the mountains. No need to go check-in at an office etc. Once inside, we were asked to call a number so they knew we made it ok, so it was super simple to start enjoying the cabin! On the day of checkout, you just call a number to let them know you have vacated the cabin, and you are on your way.
Smoky Cabins also offers travel insurance and damage protection insurance at an extra charge. We felt the cabin rental prices were very reasonable for everything you receive for your stay, and would highly recommend checking out all the cabins they have available for rent on their website. You can see tons of photos and check availability for each one, it’s super easy! Please let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer or find out for you!
