Running Skirts Ambassador

I have been a fan of RunningSkirts for a long time. When I first started distance running, a friend told me about them. I was a bit skeptical about running in a skirt, but I bought one anyway, and loved it! Freeing feeling, pockets, and adorable. I ran my very first half marathon in a skirt, (even though it was freezing!) and never looked back. 17957_532274161768_61700476_31353822_8119432_n

Now, I have quite the collection!

Also a fun fact that you may know if you have been reading my blog from the beginning, but I used to work for running skirts. I went around selling to running stores, and I worked a lot of race expos.

Unfortunately due to other work constraints, I was not able to continue my job after the first year, but I had a blast while I was able! I continued to wear RunningSkirts, even while I was pregnant (did you know they have maternity skirts?)

For the several months (almost a year) after I had Emma Kate, I had a hard time fitting into my old skirts (and still can’t fit into some because I have gained so much more muscle!) but was stoked when I was finally able to wear some of them again.

So imagine my excitement when last week I got a special surprise in the mail from my favorite set of twins! They chose me to be a skirt ambassador and I am so excited to be “back” in the skirt family.

By the way, the tank they sent me is AMAZING.  The tank actually COOLS YOU DOWN while you are running, perfect for summer!

If you ever have any questions about RunningSkirts feel free to ask me, I can recommend all kinds of things to you. Also, you can shop at any of the links in this post, and there is also a button on my right sidebar that will click you through to their website. Happy shopping!

ASICS Ambassador

Hey guys! As you can guess by the title of this post, I have some great news! I have been selected by my favorite brands ASICS to be a 2015-2016 ASICS ambassador! It’s been hard keeping the secret for a month but I am finally allowed to spill it!

There are going to be some exciting things coming up this year with ASICS that I will be involved in, and I will share them as they come, but think product reviews, giveaways, I will get the chance to go to events, etc. Right know just know I AM SO EXCITED!

asics ambassador

ASICS was the very first shoe that I bought when I got fitted for running shoes back in 2010.

I tried other brands throughout the years, but ended up with many different foot and leg injuries. Why on earth I thought it was a good idea to mess with a good thing, I will never know.

I think I have worn about every color of ASICS shoe there is, and I love all the options!

I have a high arch and I slightly over pronate, but I also need a bit of a wider toe box. I guess I have high maintenance feet?

I am currently LOVING the Gel Quantum 360’s!

ASICS not only has amazing shoes, but they have other great workout apparel as well.

I had the privilege of running the LA marathon with team ASICS this past March, and while it was a tough race in 90 degree weather, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I may have only been just a little over 2 months postpartum when they emailed me asking if I wanted to run, but I of course accepted! I was on a high for days. I couldn’t believe the brand of the shoes that I was already running in wanted to work with me. I had reviewed shoes for them in the past, but this was big.

I felt so blessed to meet some of my running heroes and hang out in LA with such an amazing and generous brand.

I think one of my favorite things about ASICS is that they “get” bloggers. I have worked with many different brands over the past almost six years, and some did a great job at relating to and working with bloggers, and some not so much. ASICS seriously knocks. it. out. of. the. park. It has been my pleasure to promote them, it makes me want to work hard for them because they have done so much for me. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store, but I know that no matter what it will be epic with ASICS.

Weekend Ramblings: September Edition

It’s College football day! I will be spending the day in front of the television preparing for the LSU game. I can’t wait! I hope you all have a great weekend, here are a few random ramblings for you:

1.) Verizon sent me an external battery for my Blackberry, and it’s so convenient! It is especially great when I am out somewhere all day or on a trip and I am using my phone a lot. I hate doing the “conserve battery” thing so it lasts all day, and now I don’t have to, woo hoo! They sent me the Power Pack Slim 2000:

2.) Bobby and I leave for another trip on Wednesday to run runDisney’s Tower of Terror ten miler, so we have been busy cleaning, packing, and doing last minute things like getting the mail held and checking in with the house and dog sitters. I think I am going to just start living out of my suitcase since I seem to do so anyway. If you aren’t following me on Instagram you will miss all my trip photos as they happen!

3.) The winner of my Under Armour sports bra giveaway is Carol Couvillion Landry. Please email me at to claim your prize! Don’t forget you can order things from UA by clicking the link on my right sidebar.

4.) I cooked potato soup last night and forgot how much I love it. (I just can’t stand cooking it in the summer when it is so stinkin hot). I have the recipe here, as well as some other good ones.

5.) I am in need of a handful of guest posts for next week. if you are interested please email me at Thanks in advance!

QOTD: What college football team do you root for?

Disclosure: I am a Verizon Wireless ambassador and was given a phone, accessories, and free service. However, all opinions are my own.

Accessories for a Healthy Lifestyle

As a very “connected” people, we are always finding new ways for technology to help us improve our lives. One thing a lot of people have begun to do is use it for health and fitness, which I think is a fabulous idea. Verizon has a ton of accessories that can be helpful in achieving the fitness level you desire, and to also help you keep your weight on track. Check out some of my favorite cool accessories that Verizon offers:

Fitbit Zip: This is a simple tool to help keep you on track with how much you are moving during the day. It tracks your steps and your distance, as well as calories burned. I love mine! It easily clips onto your belt loop or shirt, and it doesn’t bother you at all during the day. (At least not me!) I have even heard people say they accidentally put it through the wash and it came out ok!

Smart Scale: My favorite thing about this scale is that it updates your stats to your fitbit dashboard so you can keep track. It also measures body fat and BMI (honestly I hate BMI though, so don’t get me started.) This bad boy is wi-fi enabled for easy tracking and recording. Pretty nifty!

MotoACTV Bike mount: I don’t really ride, but I know my husband would love this. It easily attaches to your handlebars so you can clearly see your stats as you go. It has a GPS in it, so you can track your training and also put it online on your personal training log. You can also sync this to your android phone and be alerted when you get texts, tweets, etc. I love that!

QOTD: Which of these three would you like to try?

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.”  #VZWA #VZWVoices

I have known Brandon from Claim Your Journey for over a year. We both ran Rouge Orleans last year, and I have seen him at several races since. I already sport the Run Louisiana shirts, and I love the whole movement and am excited to officially be a part of it.

Learning the Ropes of Windows Phone 8X

As I mentioned in a post recently, I was asked again to be an ambassador for Verizon Wireless, this time getting the Windows 8X phone by HTC, and an Otterbox.

photo 95

This phone was a bit overwhelming at first because it is different than anything I have had before in a phone. However, as a windows user, I quickly figured it out and wanted to share some of the great features with you!

-I love how lightweight and thin it is. It has a bigger screen than my iPhone (but not as big as my galaxy S3) and the buttons are flush against the phone and while it makes it very sleek, they can sometimes be slightly difficult to press, which isn’t a huge deal.

-The personalization is great, you can “pin” things to your screen, and make them bigger or smaller. You can also customize your home screen colors (love the pink obviously!) and what you want tos ee on your home screen.

-The colors are very vivid, and the camera is easy to access even from a locked phone, and it takes a very wide angled shot, so no more crowding people to fit them into your photo (one of my favorite features!)

-A couple of areas it is lacking, the social sharing is a bit more difficult straight from photos, and the marketplace is lacking in some of my favorite apps (but I hear they are working on this) so it’s definitely not a deal breaker, I have just had to get a bit more creative!

In future posts I will be talking more specifically about some of the features like the beats audio and the camera, kids corner, etc. But I just wanted to give a quick overview after using it for a couple of weeks!

I realized I never shared photos of the outside of my house decorated for Christmas, so here ya go, my last Christmas-y post, I promise!

QOTD: What is something you wish your phone had that it doesn’t?

Friday Favorites: Fitmixer

I thought in honor of today being the last day to enter the my Fitmixer boot camp giveaway, I would take a little time to tell you about the products themselves (which you would receive as part of your prize pack should you win the boot camp entry!)

The two products I have been using are the protein and the aminos. I take the aminos before workouts, and usually drink the protein as a snack (I like the taste of the ones I get from, but typically not every day.

My favorite flavor protein is the vanilla, it seriously does taste like a milkshake, love! I like the grape and fruit punch aminos. Both taste very different but equally good! I am so hooked on them I take them with me when I travel.

I feel like they give me more energy and sustained energy for my workouts, which is so important in our on the go society. It’s easy to feel drained before you even get to the gym!

The protein gives you of course well, protein, but also vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and fiber. It can help you increase your metabolism to burn fat faster, and also helps aid in recovery while reducing fatigue. The aminos can increase nitric oxide by 300%! (Increased nitric oxide may have a variety of benefits including increased oxygen delivery throughout the body to reduce fatigue and improve muscle recovery.)

These products really do help, and I even have my husband hooked on them. If you want to learn more about what Fitmixer has to offer, check out their website.  I really love the company’s approach to health and fitness for you physically as well as mentally. I’m not just saying these things because I am an ambassador for them, I honestly believe in these products!

QOTD: Is there something specific you take or drink before/after a workout? Have you tried Fitmixer?

Stay Connected

I am a bit obsessed with being connected to social media, texts, phone calls, etc. This is a blessing and a curse I know, but it is also part of my two jobs. I was chosen to return as a Verizon Wireless ambassador, and I am so excited to share some new info, tips, and tricks about my brand new phone….the Windows phone 8X by HTC! I am a PC girl, so this phone is right up my alley and I found myself able to learn it very quickly.

photo (27)

Why hello new phone. I love you and I don’t even know you.

Not only was I given a phone, but we also given this awesome OtterBox! I actually *cough* BOBBY *cough* a mishap with my Galaxy S3 from last time, and it got dropped and scrapped up because I had no case for it….so I was STOKED to get a case this time. So far I am loving it (it’s from the defender series) and don’t feel like I have to constantly worry about dropping my phone.

photo (28)

I can’t wait to share more about the device itself with you, I will be using #VZWA on Twitter when tweeting about it, so be on the lookout. So far my favorite thing is the live tiles! Staying connected is so easy with everything right on my home screen.

In other news, I started seeing a chiropractor again, and on top of already knowing I have neck and back problems, we talked about one hip being higher than the other which is probably throwing my bio mechanics off when I run, he is going to do some ART on me and also some stretches and exercises I can do to work on any muscular imbalances, etc. I am really hopeful about getting help for my body to improve my overall health and my running!

QOTD: Have you ever dropped your phone? Do you keep it in a case?

*Don’t forget to enter my Fitmixer boot camp/product giveaway!
