Easter 2016

For Easter, Bobby and I went to New Orleans to see my family. We dropped EK off Friday and stayed downtown to race Saturday morning (recap coming up tomorrow), and then we came back Saturday afternoon. The weather was great so we sat outside and grilled and snacked while Emma Kate played and had an Easter Egg hunt. She is really getting the hang of finding the eggs.

It was supposed to rain all day Sunday so we went ahead and had our fun Saturday.

I guess Bella was trying to help?easter17

After dinner, we dyed eggs, and I forgot the crayon at home that we use to write on the eggs. #MomFail.

Easter morning, my parents had a basket for Emma Kate as did we. Lots of fun new toys for the bug!

So I have this old book from when I was a child that has sounds on the side and Emma Kate loves it so I found another one from the 1990’s and bought it for her. She loves it!

She of course liked her Disney princesses, too.

Apparently her new thing is sitting in the window sill? emma easter

We ate Easter lunch with my family and then loaded up the car to head home during EK’s nap time. It rained hard the WHOLE way home. Not a fun thing to drive in!

So glad we had a great weekend with family for Easter, and I hope you all did, too! Ready for some beautiful spring weather (and no rain!)

5 Things Friday XII

Happy Friday! Not only that, happy GOOD FRIDAY. This is such an important weekend to me, yall. So much to be thankful for! Let’s jump right in to 5 things Friday

1.) Easter Fun: Ok, who dyes Easter eggs this weekend? Bobby and I have always done it together, and Emma Kate is now 18 months so I think she would enjoy it, so I think we may go for it? Thoughts? Any other fun things we can do besides an egg hunt?

2.) The Crescent City Classic 10k is Saturday! We will be staying the night in New Orleans tonight and racing tomorrow. I was pretty confident in a PR, but now the weather is going to be hot and rainy so I’m really nervous and wish I never would have voiced my PR intentions! Yikes! I promise to post updates from NOLA over the weekend so be sure to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter (or all 3!)

3.) Bible Study: I mentioned last week (or maybe the week before, it all runs together now), that I had started a small group Bible study with some friends from church, and now that I am on the third week I can vouch for the book and say it is wonderful! Definitely steps on your toes a bit which I love, so if you are looking for a good devotional, I highly recommend this one!

4.) Iced or Regular? Ok, so now that it’s getting warmer, I have started craving iced coffee. Anyone else? Let’s vote. Do you drink hot coffee year round no matter the temperature, or do you switch to iced in the spring/summer?

5.) Easter Sunday Meanings: This is such an important weekend. Today, on good Friday many years ago, Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, then rose again on Easter Sunday. what a huge blessing it is, as I did nothing to deserve His love and sacrifice. If you have any questions about Easter and the Bible, I would be happy to answer/help!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, I will see you all on Monday. Happy Easter!

QOTD: Iced or hot coffee (from #4 above), and what are your Easter plans?

Easter Egg Mania

On Sunday, our church held an open to the community Easter Egg hunt for kinds K5 and under. Unfortunately, the weather was not great. It was about 48 degrees and SUPER windy. However, the show must go on, and we weren’t missing Emma Kate’s first egg hunt!

They had a bounce house and slide, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy, lemonade, and balloon animals as well as a professional photographer. They started with a little “show” and also to show off the brand new preschool playground that was just built.

They did a little story about the true meaning of Easter and sang a song, it was really cute. After that, it was time to get some eggs!

They had it organized really well. There were roped off areas for 4-5 year olds, 2-3 year olds, and baby-23 month olds (the babies were in the new playground area). It was hysterical to see all the other parents of kids Emma Kate’s age trying to take pictures and get them to put eggs in their baskets. The kids just stood there very very confused.

After showing Emma Kate what to do a few times, she finally got the hang of it and would put eggs in her basket.

Then she would get distracted by the grass, other kids, you name it.

I don’t know if you can tell, but in the below picture EK is saying “ooooo” because she just discovered she could open the eggs and that there was something inside! (Thankfully, she has no idea what candy is).

After a few minutes Emma Kate played on the playground and then we got in line for her picture.

Baby girl didn’t eat much at lunch so she was hungry and cranky so I gave her some popcorn. When I tried to take the bag from her for the photo, she FREAKED OUT, so I had to give it back. Not the best photo prop, but at least she’s not screaming.

Of course, as soon as we came home, all the eggs got dumped out all over my floor. I have a feeling this will happen all week long!

The Easter egg hunt was a success, and we had a lot of fun. A huge thanks to Broadmoor for putting it on!

QOTD: Did you/will go go to an Easter egg hunt this year?

5 Things Friday XI

Happy Friday yall!

1.) The Crescent City Classic is next weekend in New Orleans! I can’t wait to run this race again, I think this is my fifth time! It’s always the Saturday before Easter, and so much fun. If you will be within driving distance of NOLA Easter weekend I can’t highly recommend this race enough. You can sign up here.

2.) Have you heard of the ASICS Beat the Sun Challenge, that takes place on the longest day of the year? You can sign up for a chance to run the race, or sign up for the virtual race where you can challenge yourself to reach a goal.

3.) I am loving this month’s Fabletics picks. As much as I love the fun prints on my carpi pants, I wanted to tone it down a little, and so the print just along the side is a great option! The tank is made of a thicker material, but I love the fit and the colors.

4.) I just started small group Bible study with my lifegroup from church, and we are doing a book called Anything: The Prayer That Unlocked My God and My Soul. So far I really like it and recommend it!

5.) Emma Kate loves the water, which is a drastic change from last summer. I have a baby pool and little splash pad for her, but I think I want to get her a water table. Any one in particular that’s good? I was looking at this one: Little Tikes Spiralin’ Seas Waterpark Play Table. Opinions?

QOTD: Are you running a race the next two weekends? Did/do your kids like playing with water tables?

Easter Weekend 2015

A late happy Easter to everyone! I hope you had a fun weekend with friends and family. We did, but it went by sssoooo fast, I’m sad it’s over! Thursday night Bobby and I dyed Easter eggs, then forgot to put them in the refrigerator, whoops!

IMG_4080 (2)

Also we kind of made a mess, but love having a place to put the completed eggs!

Bella was feeling left out and wanted to show off our cute new rug.

IMG_4069 (2)

Friday afternoon we loaded up the family and drove to my parents house. We dropped off the girls and headed downtown for the night. We were running the Crescent City Classic 10k in the morning but had the expo and a pasta dinner to get to first.

IMG_4189 (2)

At the pasta dinner I got to catch up with some friends/other bloggers, we had a blast! I was sure to carb load and eat plenty of desserts.

IMG_4098 (2)

After dinner we checked into our hotel, Aloft New Orleans, and went to bed. Poor Bobby had a cold and wasn’t feeling very good.

IMG_4184 (2)

The next morning was the race (recap coming soon)

IMG_4126 (2)

Then we drove back to my parents house for Easter.I was sure to get a celebratory wedding cake snowball.

IMG_4196 (2)

My dad’s 60th birthday is in a couple of weeks, so we went ahead and celebrated since we were in town. We had a delicious doberge cake (google it) and ice cream.

IMG_4206 (2)

Sunday morning we went to church, and of course Emma Kate got an Easter basket.

The weather was gorgeous, sunny and 70, so we all hung out outside while my dad grilled. My aunt and uncles came over and joined us for lunch.

IMG_4235 (2)

Lunch was delicious as usual, but all too soon it was time to pack up and make the drive back to Mississippi. Out of nowhere a huge storm popped up and it rained the entire drive back home. Sad times.

We had so much fun (except for Bobby being sick) celebrating Easter and the true reason we celebrate the holiday.

What I’m Loving Lately: February 2015

It’s time again to see what some I have been loving as of late. As the weather changes and as my workouts/training cycles change, my favorites most definitely change as well. Here we go!

1.) Opedix Knee-Tec 2.0 full length compression tights:

Marathon training is painful yall. My joints hurt, I ache a lot, and need serious help recovering. I was given these tights and so far I am really liking them.

IMG_2785 (2)

They help improve alignment and joint function, as well as reduce muscle fatigue. They have compression plus torque reform technology. These tights are moisture wicking, anti-odor, and breathable. They have a high waistband with a drawstring, and they have a great fit. My favorite thing though is that they are made in the USA! I have been wearing them after some long runs and my muscles feel more relaxed and I feel more fresh the next day and ready to run again. They have a lot of seams which I wasn’t sure about at first, but soon realized it helps and gives more compression and a better fit. (Follow them on Instagram here).

IMG_2788 (2)

2.) Emma Kate’s Easter basket:

I never click on the sponsored content that comes up on Facebook, but this time I did. There was a great sale price plus free personalization on baskets from Viv and Lou, so I had to get one!

IMG_2709 (2)

3.) Starbucks baby gift idea:

I saw this on Instagram. How adorbs is this? Baby blankets made to look like Starbucks drinks. I die. Now I just need to find a fellow Starbucks lover who is expecting, yes, I even have hypothetical pregnancy gift ideas for people who don’t exist yet in my life. Don’t judge.

IMG_2626 (2)

4.) This. Need I say more?

IMG_2791 (2)

5.) External charger from Jane.com

I bought this a month or so ago and it has been a lifesaver. I just stick it in my purse and can recharge my phone when I am using it a lot and don’t have an outlet nearby. It was only about $7, and I have seen them pop up on the site several times. Oh, and if you aren’t familiar with Jane.com, enter at your own risk. Ssssoooo addicting!

IMG_2792 (2)

QOTD: What is something you are loving lately? Do you have or like any of the things I mentioned?

Disclosure: I was sent the Opedix tights to try free of charge, but everything else in this post I purchased. All opinions are my own.

Easter Weekend 2014

Good morning! We are back home from visiting my family for Easter, and we had a great weekend. We were blessed to have the most gorgeous weather the entire time, and spent a ton of time sitting outside enjoying the low humidity.

We arrived Friday afternoon and went to dinner for my dad’s birthday then had cake and ice cream back at the house.

Saturday Bobby and I were up early for the Crescent city classic in New Orleans. Over 25,000 people were registered for the race! (Recap to come on Thursday). We had a blast, and came home and sat outside with my parents. Bobby may have fallen asleep on the porch.

unnamed (3)

My parents got a new patio set for the backyard, and my dad spent a ton of time working in the backyard making it beautiful for spring and this is where we we spent most of the weekend.

Sunday morning we went to my parent’s church and heard my mom sing in the choir.

After church, we did some grilling in preparation of two of my aunts and uncles coming over for lunch.

We had a great lunch and a fun time visiting with family Sunday.

The rest of Sunday was just relaxing and chatting, a great way tow rap up a holiday weekend. We left Monday morning, with plenty of leftovers now in our refrigerator. What a great weekend!

Bella is worn out, too. By the way, today is Bella’s 6th birthday!

Easter Meaning

Happy (Good) Friday yall! Today is a very special day for me. I know a lot of you aren’t religious, but hopefully you know if you had read my blog at all that I am a Christian, so this weekend means a lot to me.

I will be visiting with my family all weekend, so I won’t be around much. Bobby and I are also running the Crescent City Classic 10k on Saturday! I am really looking forward to a fun weekend and hope you are, too.

I hope you know if you ever have any questions about Good Friday, or resurrection Sunday (or anything else related!) That I would be more than happy to talk to you about it, and not in a pushy way!

Have a great weekend everyone, see ya on Monday! I leave you with the lyrics to a great song: (you can listen here)

Christ Is Risen

Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
We fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to him who showed great love
And bled for us
Freely you bled, for us

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave!
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave!

Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bow to none but heavens will
No scheme of hell, no scoffer’s crown
No burden great can hold you down
In strength you reign
Forever let your church proclaim

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave

Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave

Oh death! Where is your sting?
Oh hell! Where is your victory?
Oh Church! Come stand in the light!
The glory of God has defeated the night!
Oh death! Where is your sting?
Oh hell! Where is your victory?
Oh Church! Come stand in the light!
Our God is not dead, he’s alive! he’s alive!

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave
Rise up from the grave…

QOTD: Do you celebrate Easter?

Easter Weekend 2013

I know I know. I promised a runDisney post today. I am so sorry! Working out a couple of kinks with my post and information. Shooting for tomorrow. Please don’t hate me! I just want it to be perfect. Winking smile

Instead I shall tell you about my Easter Weekend. Poor Bobby somehow pulled his back lifting weights on Thursday morning. it was hurting him, but not too badly. By Friday, he couldn’t walk straight and was in a lot of pain. He went to the chiropractor and was told he had a back spasm. He was treated there, and then went and got a massage before we headed to my parents house for the weekend. The weather was so beautiful that we sat outside and ate dinner. My dad fried shrimp and fish (which I didn’t eat of course) and we just relaxed on the deck.

photo (38)

Dad is way cool in his backwards hat.

Saturday, we of course got up at 5:00 and drove into Downtown to run the Crescent City Classic.

2009 and 2013. Funny stuff.

After the race we both took wonderful naps, and had dinner outside again with my parents. So far a great relaxing weekend! Sunday morning we got up and went to church. I wore my new Easter dress from the Banana Republic outlet.

Just thought I’d throw my favorite picture ever in the mix. Bahahaha!

Ok, where were we?

After church some extended family came over and we ate lunch and hung out outside again and ate dessert. Lots of great things to choose from!

We had a great relaxing weekend with family, it was just what we needed. I hope you all had a happy Easter, too!

QOTD: Any Easter traditions? Special foods? Egg hunt? My mom has these Easter egg plates we eat dessert out of every year!
