The Star-less Tree

A big thanks to the sweet comments on my Blogiversary number 2 post yesterday. I still can’t believe I have been doing this for two years now. It makes my heart happy. Some of you have some great blogging goals and I hope you achieve them! As always if you have questions, would like advice or an opinion I am happy to help.

So I showed you a sneak peek of something Bobby and I did on Sunday and some of you got it right. Yes, I know it’s a little early but we have some very busy weekends coming up (weddings, visiting family, neighborhood events, etc.) so this was the best weekend for us to get it done. I am obsessed with Christmas and with decorating for it. For sure one of my favorite things to do all year. It was strange decorating this year because 1.) I was living at home last year so didn’t have a house of my own to decorate and 2.) we are in a new house so I had to figure out a “place” everything. I am not quite done so more pictures will follow but here is the main “stuff.”

We get ornaments when we visit a new place, have something neat happen, etc. This year the ornament we got was in Disneyworld after we ran the marathon. We had this made at the Christmas store in Downtown Disney:

Bella didn’t like us moving the furniture out of the area where we put the tree. She gets stressed out so easily.

Putting ornaments on the tree! I can’t believe it’s finally tttiimmeee!

I put blankets around the bottom of the tree so we wouldn’t have any broken ornament #fail. This is our first time with wood floors in the living room and I have seen my parents break too many at their house!

Our star-less tree. I told Bobby to make sure he didn’t pick up the star with the non-working lights (we have two) and he plugged it in and it worked…then, he dropped it. Gah! So now the working star is also a non-working star, so until I get a new one…it just looks so weird with nothing on top!

Not to mention, it’s a big tree and it looked HUGE in our old house but with our two story living room it looks so tiny!

sitting by the fire. Smile

Sisterly love…

It’s comical to look at these pictures taken just days ago, because the girls got haircuts yesterday and now look so different, but very pretty I might add.

So, there you have it, a few of our pictures. I am excited to decorate outside, hopefully this coming weekend. I am still on a hunt for some garland I like for the banisters.

I am hoping the YMCA is still set to open on Saturday. They still have a lot of work to do in my opinion and it’s making me nervous. I REALLY need to get back to a workout routine, I have been so lazy the past two weeks with all that has happened with being sick, then my foot, then the ER visit.  I am so excited to be just a block or so away from a gym. The pool is outdoors but will be good for warmer weather cross training (some of you were asking about it in my cross training workouts post.) I will be sure to take pictures on Saturday, and I may even attend the grand opening yoga class! This should be interesting.

QOTD: When do you usually decorate for Christmas? Any decorating traditions? Growing up we decorated the weekend of Thanksgiving, and we always ordered pizza and listened to Christmas music while we decorated.

Cross Training Favorites

Good morning! Catching up from a weekend away from the blog world? Here is what you missed!

A year ago…November flashback

The One With the Emergency Room < ----- Yes, Bobby had to take me to the ER… I am SURE you went and checked out that ER post. Now that you feel sorry for me, and are glad you are NOT me, let’s move on ok? I actually feel fine now. Friday was really rough recovering from the Demerol, and Saturday I still had some bad stomach cramps (and my hand still KILLS where that awful nurse ripped out my IV!) and yesterday I just had SLIGHT cramping, so hopefully today is by “100% better” day. I am headed for a day with my mom today, dropping off the pups to get groomed. They need it badly. DSC_0822

No we don’t it’s just our winter coats!

They were pretty tucked out after that heart attack inducing Saints game.

As was their mama. I thought I was going to need a return trip to the ER. Twice in three days would not be so much fun. Let’s try and not go into overtime next game ok boys?

Alright, down to business. The sad truth I hate to admit…my foot still hurts. I will not be running a half marathon Thanksgiving weekend as planned. Since I don’t want to have an ER repeat due to inactivity, I have got to get to cross training. Luckily, the YMCA opens IN my neighborhood on SATURDAY so I am going to implement a serious routine to keep me as fit as possible without putting too much force on my foot.

So, my question for you is what is your favorite non running way to workout that I can do in a gym without putting pounding force on my foot? The gym will have your standard weights and cardio machines as well as one fitness class room where they will have Yoga, zumba, and some form of body pump maybe? Not sure yet. All I know it I have to do SOMETHING and I don’t want to lose all of my fitness, so what are your suggestions? I will get bored doing the same thing every day, so I need variety, something like the pilates in Buckhead that I saw, high energy, loads of moves and safe!

Although I DID get a little workout doing something last night, I will give you a little hint…

Any guesses? Smile Not to mention, tomorrow is a pretty special day here on RWS. You will just have to come back and see why! Have a marvelous Monday.

QOTD: Cross training. Hit me!

Please Don’t Leave Me

As if we haven’t had enough drama already, we still don’t have internet. Frustrated would not be a strong enough word to describe my mood. He is supposed to be here again today until its fixed….well, its thundering lightning and pouring rain outside so obviously He isn’t here… I am hoping he will come this afternoon When this storm blows over. I have things to do!
So here is my plea…please don’t leave me! I am coming back to my blog as soon as I Can. I am petrified of losing my followers!
I will leave you with another picture…cross your fingers I get internet tonight!

Puppy Love and Mileage

So if you know me, you know I love my puppies. No, they are not really puppies, one is 2 and one is almost 9, but it’s kinda like how parents call their grown children their babies. Yeah, I guess I will be one of those people. So, with my love being expressed, I do wish one thing…that I had a puppy running buddy. My poor 8 pound dogs wouldn’t last 5 minutes on a run. Not only because they are so small, but so undisciplined and extremly distracted. We would get nowhere.

I read articles all te time about tis person and their dog, and so on and so forth. i even read an article in Runners World about a lady who ran a half marathon with her dog, and he got a medal, too. It was really cute, and I was kinda jealous.

So I try and think of all the things I love about my non running dogs, like….they are small enough to sit in my lap, or sleep on the bed, and I can easily carry them around and restrain them from attacking small children (which they don’t do….usually.)

But really, who could not love this sweet face anyway?

and no, this one is not dead. She just likes the coolness of the tile floor. Smart girl. I didn’t want to disturb her.

Today the humidity was fortunately lower, like yesterday, except the sun was out today while it was overcast yeaterday. Bobby ran with me this time, and we finished in a decent time. This month’s running isn’t where I wanted it to be, but it is DEFINATELY better than last months. A 10 day vaca and 2 death in the family will really hurt your miles, which is fine, but I was determined to do better this moth, which I have.

Go to McAlisters today and get FREE TEA!!!!!!!

QOTD: Do you run with your dog? how far?

Hill Workout

So I am still sick. I FEEL better (not near as al over crummy feeling, just slightly) but my nose is a predicament. It is totally stopped up but at the same time running constantly. How is this possible? I can taste NO food, and my nose is so raw! I opened this tissue box at 7:30 and this is what it looked like at 2:30

RIDICULOUS! and, it’s still going! Nose spray offers some relief, but just temporarily. I haven’t run since Sunday, and I am becoming one of those people who gets really cranky when they don’t run for a few days. I have always read as long as your sickness isn’t in your chest and is just in your head you can run. So I set out. I had a plan of running very very easily out to a steep hill on my route, running up and down a few times, and having an easy run back. This plan worked out well but was hard! Very hard when you aren’t feeling well and can’t breathe. Something else I learned, when the area between your nose and top lip is VERY raw from blowing your nose, it tends to burn VERY BADLY when you sweat above your upper lip! OUCH!
It was a slow warm up .75 miles out to my hill.

I know it’s hard to tell from here, but this is a steep hill!
looking up

I ran up this bad boy 8 times! I kept it between a 6:00-6:30 minute per mile pace, I was booking it! I walked or slow jogged back down each time, then jogged back home, for a total of 2.6 miles. The last couple times up were so hard. I am sure I will be sore! I also came home and did some arm weights. I physically didn’t need to run as much as I did mentally. I feel much better!

My sweet puppies got haircuts yesterday!

they look so tiny! They are a lot happier in the heat without all that long hair!

Ok, so tomorrow is Friday, yay! I am off to get some things done before Grey’s comes on!

QOTD: do you do hill workouts for speed?

Sunburn, puppies, and pollen

I was very glad that I was starting my week on a Tuesday and not a Monday. Wait…that doesn’t make a lot of sense…but you get what i mean! Yesterday was so glorious. I slept in, I Went for a run, had lunch with my husband, sat outside and read a book, went for a walk with the husband and puppies.

Back to this reading outside…I was only out there for about 45 minutes…and I got a sunburn! So I am aware it doesn’t look as bad as it really is, but it is red and painful! I hate burning. I know it is bad for you, but I also hate being pale! It is a vicious cycle. I love summer, and laying by the pool, but don’t want skin cancer!

So on to the pollen, OH the pollen! It is doing a number on my allergies and my runs. I can’t breathe through my nose and I have that lovely drip in the back of my throat. It is all over everything, in the garage, on the doorknobs, everything. When is this going to go away! Is anyone else having this awful problem?

Lastly, I thought I would share a cute picture. My father enjoys torturing my poor puppies when we go to visit. Here, I caught him in the act!

hehe! poor Bella!

So today for my workout I was going to cross train…so i did 20 minutes elliptical. Then I took the dogs out and saw how nice and sunny it was…so i ran a mile! lol! I also am going to do some arm weights while I watch the Biggest Loser!

QOTD: What do you believe about the sun/burning/tanning?

Matching puppies

SO as you should know, I have a minnie dot (minnie mouse) running skirt. i wore it for the disney half. Well, my sweet puppies also have a minnie mouse skirt..but they don’t run. I do believe I need to get a picture of us in our matching outfits though!

aren’t they precious?! they look so happy HAHA!

On an actual running topic…My husband and I ran 6 miles after I got home from work. beautiful, sunny, no clouds, 66 degrees. It was great! Now, I was very tired from my long day and week, so it wasn’t a fast run but we did it. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow so we wanted to go ahead and do it on the pretty day.

I have been proud of my running this week. Trying to get back into the swing of things! Basketball will be over after this week and then that will free up some more of my time as well. Although next week the high is in the low 50’s so I have a feeling it will be back to the treadmill for me.

So, now I ask, does your pet wear clothes? what kind of clothes and what kind of pet? I am curious!
