What a Week

Hey guys! Last week was quite the whirlwind, and to say it was stressful would be an understatement. We don’t actually have the Orange Leaf just yet but very very soon. It has been kind of a nightmare week but hopefully the worst is behind us. I just wanted to give you a little peek inside of what we were up to all week.

Monday morning we dropped Emma Kate off at daycare at 7:00 and then drove straight to Oklahoma. We arrived at 5:30 and made it to Orange Leaf corporate headquarters.

Tuesday morning we signed some papers, and had a full day of classroom and hands on training. But not before a quick run on the treadmill. We were going to run outside but we stepped out and it was raining. Since we have not seen rain since July 4th, we kind of forgot it existed.

Wednesday morning we were up bright and early to open a store ourselves and work. We learned a ton, it was information overload. Everyone was super nice though, and we really enjoyed our training. We also closed the store Wednesday night so we got back to our hotel around 11:30.

Thursday we got to do something pretty cool. Kevin Durant hosts a series of basketball camps at OU, and we got to go help hand out frozen yogurt to the kids at camp. Kevin Durant is a giant. That is all.

We wrapped up our training Thursday afternoon and Bobby and I were exhausted. We went out to dinner and hung out at the hotel before calling it an early night. Friday morning we ran on the treadmills again before heading out of town.

We drove ALL DAY (Dallas traffic is quite the nightmare on a Friday) and got home at 9:30 that night. We crashed pretty soon afterwards, and then were up early to drive to the gulf coast for Bobby’s best friends wedding. (My mom had taken the dog and baby back with her to Louisiana earlier in the week). We drove 3 hours straight down to the lunch time wedding, then after drove 1.5 hours over to my parents house in Louisiana.

We literally felt like we had been around the world! I was happy to see my little chick, she had a great week with grammy and grandpa while we worked.

unnamed (5)

Sunday morning I went for a very hot and humid run, and after a BBQ lunch, we drove the 3 hours back home.

unnamed (6)

I am SO TIRED of being in the dang car! Hopefully we are here for good for a long while! Now it’s time to play catch up with my work and prepare to get things at Orange Leaf going. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

QOTD: Do you like road trips/being in the car?

Flashback to June 2013

How is it already almost June? I’m not sure if things are flying by because of the pregnancy, or if this is just how life is going to be now, but slloowww down! It always makes me laugh when I talk about something that I swear happened “just a couple months ago” and no no, it was LAST YEAR. Hhhmmm… So I thought it would be fun to do another flashback (I love these, sorry guys!) and see what I was doing this time last year. Well, what I was doing in June, since it’s almost June now.

Last June, Bobby participated in his first Duathalon. It was actually a “summer series” where they had three sets of races, and it was about five minutes from our house with only a $10 entry fee. Score! He did great and improved his time each race.

Bobby and I went on a road trip with my parents to Atlanta to visit some old friends. (Fun fact, I lived outside of ATL from the ages of 2-7). We had a blast with no real “schedule”, it was nice to get away for a few days.

We found out that the golf course right by our house had $20 “twilight golf” where you could play anytime after 4:00, cart included, for $20. He hit the links a handful of times and I got to be his driver.

June 6 is Bobby’s birthday, so there was of course, cake.

He may have had cake twice. After all, it was his 30th!

Georgia on My Mind

Happy Saturday! This weekend we are visiting the Atlanta area with my family. Most of you probably don’t know this, but I lived in the suburbs of Atlanta for nearly seven years as a small child. We came back to do some business and visit with some old friends and are having a great time so far! (Hence why I have been so scarce on social media!)

We did some driving around today, so much has changed since I was here ten years ago. I really enjoyed Suwanee, what a beautiful area!

Tomorrow we have some things planned, and we are looking forward to a great day. I will be back on Sunday and will get back to a normal routine with posting etc. Have a good one!

QOTD: Who all lives in the Atlanta area? Do you like it?

Finally Home

Hi! It’s raining here, so no running today (not that my knee is cooperating anyway, ggrr…) Anyway, I made it home about 10:00 last night, and I am still tired this morning. luckily I have the rest of the weekend to catch up on sleep and unpacking etc.

Yesterday morning we had breakfast and left early and drove about 1.5 hours to Louisiana.

2011-07-22065728 2011-07-22070100

Skirted up in: Midnight RS, Sparkle hearts strappy tank, pink swift sox, and pink half zip

We DID get lost ones, because there was a lot of construction/detour stuff, but we made it to my next appointment.

Dis-assembling and re-assembling the rolling rack 13 times got really old, but I think I have it down to a science now!

After that, we drove 3.5 hours to Lafayette for my next appointment, and then we met Karen for lunch at McAlisters! (duh, where ELSE would we eat?)

The my mom and I drove back to my parents house…right through baton Rouge Friday afternoon 5:00 traffic. Holy moly. We sat at a standstill inching forward for 45 minutes. It took us FOREVER to get back. After being in the car since 7 am, and knowing after I let my parents I still had over an hour to drive I was getting unhappy. 3 hours later, we made it to my parents and I got to see my NOLA BEAR! She is getting HIUGE, but still just as spastic. SO spastic in fact, it is near impossible to get a picture of her being STILL!

wwweeeee I go round and round

sit? sit? what does that mean? I don’t kknnnooowwww

I am a lap dog yes I am!

I like to pounce on things like a cat, and can now jump in the chair all by myself!

I love you and I don’t even know you!!!!

Ok I will be still for ONE picture and one picture only…ccchheeessseee!

WHEW! She wears me out. I drove home after dropping my mom off and it was so good to see hubby and my pups! Also so nice to sleep in my own bed. Road trips are fun, but home is better.

Here is a little run down of my trip.

Thanks so much for following in my travels! I will now be back to regular blogging…temporarily…because….

I AM GOING TO ROCK N ROLL PROVIDENCE! That’s right folks, I will be working the Running Skirts booth at the expo! I am so excited! So, who is going to be there? hhmmm?

QOTD: Do you like road trips? what was your most fun one?

Oh, Look, More Corn!

Hi from Texas! How yall doin? So since Monday I have been in Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and now Texas. I am a busy bee! One thing is for certain, putting a heavy rolling rack and 9 mannequins in and out of my car 3 times a day all week has been quite the sweaty chore in this heat! Good thing the Running Skirts line is sweat wicking, eh?

Yesterday morning we packed up at the hotel and headed to my first of three appointments in Tulsa. I met some great people at all three and had a great time talking skirts.

yesterday I was skirted up in…

2011-07-21074744 2011-07-21074849

Mums midnight RS, purple swift sox, midnight strappy tank and azure LS run love top.

After my second appointment, we had some time to kill so we went to Red Robin. We have Red Robin commercials at home but NO Red Robin which really annoys me, so I was excited to try it out. It was yummy, two thumbs up!

After the third appointment, we started a 4.5 hour drive to Texarkana. It was LONG. down winding country roads, through podunk towns where you have to drive s-l-o-w, etc. Oh, and we saw a LOT of corn.

Hi Texas!

photo (4)

Here is my moms’s attempt to take a pic of me with the corn…yeah…

So, we passed a LOT of corn. A lot of crops, really. I felt like I was in the musical Oklahoma. Fun Fact: in 3rd grade my school put on the play/musical Oklahoma and I was in it. Fun-ny!

We finally made it though!

Hello Hampton Inn, good to see you…again…a few hours after checking out of another one…

I decided to hit the gym, I haven’t run in two weeks sue to some knee pain. Unfortunately, I am not quite ready to run. It didn’t HURT per say, but felt “weird” makes total sense, right? So I did one mile and called it a night.

Lookie, my purple socks match my purple shoes!

Today is the last leg of our trip. I have two appointments heading back down to the NOLA area, and I get to see Karen! So excited! Then I will head home to husband and the pups and I get to spend the weekend with them. Woot!!

QOTD: Do you have Red Robin? Like?

PS: I am FIVE followers away from 900 on Twitter. Help a sister out!

The Scary Hotel Story

Hi! Still in OOOOOOAAAAAAK-lahoma today! Had two appointments today, three tomorrow then we start heading back down to Louisiana with two on Friday before going home. All the driving is starting to hit me and I got really sleep driving back to Tulsa this afternoon from Oklahoma City (which I love by the way!)

Anyway, as promised….the scary hotel story.

Monday, we were to spend the night in Monroe, Louisiana. Let me preface by saying if you live in or like Monroe LA, I am NOT bashing you. I am sure there are nice areas of the city….but not where we were! So I didn’t make hotel reservations, because well, I figured I didn’t need to. We pull up to the Hampton Inn….oh. my. gosh. Old, dirty, run down, and with outside corridors (which I hate esp. when just traveling with my mom, just not safe!) there were so SCARY looking people coming in and out of there, so we decided to Google hotels and found a decent area of town by a mall with a new hotel. We walk in and ask for a room…and they are BOOKED SOLID! Not only that, but she said every hotel in the area that she would deem safe for two ladies was booked! I freaked a little, I had an appointment in town at 9 am the next morning.

SO I call the running store and tell them my predicament….trying to hold it together. They tell me about a hotel (not a chain) an old one that was redone that was nice and that is right by the store. They said if they had family come in town that is where they would have them stay. Trusting their word, we called and booked and headed over.

You could tell it was really old and was probably nice once, it had a fountain in the lobby and a pretty chandelier….but that’s where the niceness stopped. It had outer buildings with outside corridors. They put us in a “remodeled” room. It had an air conditioner in the window HELP UP BY 2X4’S!!! I wish I was kidding. It had ONE LAMP in the whole room not counting the bathroom light. The paint was coming off everywhere, there as a hole in the shower where the faucet was, and had a crappy little lock on the door and a chain. We felt REAL safe…Not in a great neighborhood either.

We laughed about it but were also PETRIFIED at the same time! This was not good.

We went out and got a pizza and brought it back to the room and ate in the near dark and watched tv. The walls were so thin we heard the TV blaring next door. I was afraid to touch anything and we checked the beds for bed bugs.

a scary ominous cloud didn’t make things any better…

Anyway, we hardly slept, it was so loud and when people walked by the door it sounded like they were in the room. I slept with my million volt tazer next to me. No lie. Don’t mess with me yall, I will taze your butt! Anyway, I have never been so happy to leave a hotel. I kept waiting for someone to kick in the door or someone to grab us and pull us into a room when we walked by. Good thing I am a trained ninja.

Anyway, NOW we are VERY happy to be in a nice hotel, never thought I would be so happy to walk into a Hampton Inn!

Here is my skirt outfit for yesterday:

mums pinkalicious RS, White Strappy Tank, black swift sox

Layered with a black run love long sleeve top.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, I DO own regular clothes!

Last night we went to dinner at Olive Garden and we walked around the mall. I was on the hunt for fro yo, and I found some!

Welcome to PeachWave! I had never heard of this particular one before, but it was pretty good. Not as good as my beloved Menchies but really, what is?

Hello Tiramasu and Blueberry Fro Yo!

aaannddd just in case you were wondering….it’s still hot!

Have a great day! I go home tomorrow, yay!

QOTD: Favorite Fro Yo topping? Go!

Road Trippin’ part 2

Hi friends! I hope you had a terrific Tuesday! I have been a busy bee and have driven many miles. Yesterday morning, my mom and I set out on our road trip and I hit three stores. We spent the night in Monroe, Louisiana. This morning we went to another store then drove aaalllll the way to Fayetteville Arkansas for another appointment. THEN we drove to Tulsa, Oklahoma where we are spending the night. (By the way, I have driven EVERY single mile!)

Tomorrow I have two more appointments, then Thursday 3, then Friday 2. WHEW! I am going to be zonked. I am exhausted, but having a good time selling Running Skirts. I am tired of eating out/fast food every meal but other than that having a good time and feeling productive.  Not to mention my IT band is SO TIGHT from being in the car all day and driving/pushing the pedals. Luckily, I brought my handy dandy foam roller!

So this is each leg of the trip in a word/phrase so far:

Baton Rouge: Traffic

North Louisiana: scary hotel

South Arkansas: corn

Northwest Arkansas: Mountains

Oklahoma: Power lines

By the way…HUGE heat wave going on right now…it was 99 degrees at 8:00 tonight. no lie, check it out:

On thing that is different though, not NEAR as much humidity. I got out of the car expecting to have a heat stroke but it wasn’t that bad without so much humidity! So sorry, Oklahoma. I don’t want to hear any whining about the heat. Just kidding, you can whine a little. But not to me, mmk?

Oh, you want to know what happened with the scary hotel huh? It’s quite a funny story, but you will have to wait until tomorrow. Smile

Having fun in Tulsa! (at the nice hotel) Watch out, it’s hilly, I may dent a car…..

QOTD: Have you ever stayed in a crappy hotel? why? do they bother you? share!

Road Trippin’

Hi friends! Today starts a fun but busy week for me! But first let’s catch up.

Beach Trip Part 2

Beach Trip Part 3

Beach Trip Part 4

I will be doing quite a bit of traveling this week. I am headed out this morning on a week long road trip to visit some stores selling Running Skirts. My mom is tagging along with me to keep me company. I am hitting 13 stores in 5 days in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma! Let’s just say there will be lots of driving! I am hoping to have free WiFi in the hotels so I can still blog about my adventures.

Fingers crossed Bobby keeps the dogs alive and doesn’t burn the house down!

wwweeee I like to play in the waves. I won’t burn the house down!

Yesterday, we went to church and lunch with our Sunday School class. bobby had a board meeting for work, and I packed up and then headed to my mom and dad’s for the night before the road trip. I wore one of the dresses I got from Ann Taylor LOFT to church. it’s so comfy!

Good news! I think my knee is getting better. It was a tiny bit stiff when I woke up this morning but I can walk normally today. I am so excited that it’s not getting worse or staying the same. Hopefully in a couple more days I can try and easy run at a hotel gym and won’t have any problems. I am really hoping this is the case, because I want to chat with yall about my half marathon training plans and hopefully get some feedback.

Some of you were asking where on my knee it hurts, so here is a picture to give you an idea. It’s right in the bend and sometimes feels behind and in front of my knee when I straighten or bend my knee and tuck it up into my chest. Where my thumb is, that is the general area of pain. It is tender to the touch if I push hard on that bone there I guess? (Is it a bone? This shows my incompetence.)

gotta drive!

QOTD: What is your favorite road trip snack?
