Happy Halloween 2013

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I cannot believe it is here AGAIN! (I also can’t believe how many Christmas commercials and items I have seen. Good grief). We don’t exactly have exciting plans, but we will spend the evening handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, carving our pumpkin, and watching one of my ALL TIME favorite movies: Hocus Pocus. Can you believe that movie came out 20 years old? This makes me feel very, very old. However, I watch it every Halloween and Hope I always do.

Halloween 2012

I will be hiding the candy after tonight, because tomorrow I start the Advocare 24 day challenge. I have been using certain Advocare products for awhile now, and I love them so much I have decided to start selling them. More on that later though, but just know you can order through this link:

Bobby and I are going to my parents tomorrow because he needs a haircut before our trip and only trusts one lady to cut his hair and she lives by my parents house. Also, I need to do some research for a blog post while we are there as well. I will be around though, so shoot me an email or message on Facebook or Twitter if you need me.

Have a great Halloween, stay safe, and be smart….and scare as many children as possible. I kid…sort of.

QOTD: Do you have any fun plans tonight?

October 2013 Disney Trip Photos

Bobby and I went to Disney at the beginning of the month for the Tower of Terror ten mile race. We stayed at the Boardwalk in a deluxe club level room, and I wanted to share a little about out trip with you! We very much enjoyed being able to walk over to the Food and Wine festival, and even to the race and back. Great location!

We had an amazing view of the boardwalk and the lake.

We ate out at several of our favorite restaurants as well, and even dressed up on some nights.

The newly reopened California Grill was a favorite of ours.

As were the animals at the Animal Kingdom park. How cute is this meer cat? We learned that one will stand guard while the others hunt for food, etc, and that’s what this little guy was doing. He constantly looked at the skies for birds!

Mr. Gorilla says hi.

Epcot was great as always, and Bobby particularly loved the food booths. It was still very warm, but the last full day we were there it cooled off which was nice!

Lots of other yummy treats were consumed as well.

We enjoyed just hanging out with each other and not thinking about the other crazy things going on in life.

We went bowling together for the first time (ever!) as a couple. I have bowled once in the past 10 years…him, none.

We goofed off at Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party

and made lots of great memories!

QOTD: Do you enjoy going to the zoo or aquarium?

Speaking of Which…

Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer. I love it. I will buy bottles of the stuff so I have plenty even after the holidays are over. It’s quite sad, but it literally starts my day off great and I am in such a better mood in the mornings in the fall! Not to mention drinking coffee when it’s 100 degrees outside is not as fun. Speaking of which…

mmmmmm coffee

Cooler weather. Where did it go? Last week we had mornings in the FORTIES! I was ecstatic. Now? The high today is 82. Yeah. Isn’t it almost November? Speaking of almost November, that means it’s almost Halloween…

Want to buy cold weather

Halloween Candy. Bane of my existence. After 10/31, I am making the hubby hide it from me. Seriously, if he doesn’t, I will eat all the things. This is not good. I am trying to eat healthy and BE more healthy especially since I have been sick. Speaking of which…

Mickey pumpkin = Halloween

Antibiotics. I haven’t taken any in YEARS. I am still on my round of Amoxicillin, which thankfully is in pill form. Does anyone remember taking the liquid as a kid? I do, and that stuff was gross. Tasting the pill a little brings back bad memories so I have to swallow quickly. However, I am SO glad I am feeling better, because I have a ton to do since getting back in town, like cleaning my house. Speaking of which…

Taking lots of this, too.

House cleaning. It was mostly clean when I got home yesterday, so what the heck happened? It’s amazing how quickly we can trash things, it has literally only been 24 hours. How does this happen? I think I need to do some spring cleaning this fall so I don’t have as much stuff to clutter up.

I don’t have a picture to go with house cleaning, so how ‘bout one of Bella instead, hhmmm?

QOTD: Thoughts on any of these things? Are you ready for the candy to be gone and do you wish little elves came in and cleaned your house at night so you can drink pumpkin spice coffee in the mornings?

November Challenges

Hey guys! I am home and playing catch up. Back to the grind and back to workouts. Not gonna lie, it’s been ugly lately, and has to stop before the holidays.
things like this are killing me!

Luckily, a lovely blogger we all know and love told me about a 24 day challenge I will be participating in starting November 1.
I am going to get real with you guys, it’s not so much the working out I have a problem with although I really DO need to step it up…it’s the eating.
I love comfort food and sweets, and absolutely no will power. I think the key is going to be literally just getting it OUT of my house so I am not even tempted.

So, I need you guys to hold me accountable! If you are interested in participating email me and I can help you out but it starts November 1!

Any tips for meal prep, staying away from sweets, etc would be awesome. Maybe I will even do a post on it from your comments and emails so send them on!

QOTD: any tips for better eating or staying on track?

Back in Miami

Good morning! We are back in Miami and getting off the Disney Magic after breakfast. The newly redone parts of the ship look so good! I will be sharing more photos later but here is a peek at some.

I fly back to New Orleans today then drive home and am home for two whole weeks woo hoo!
I will be announcing the winner of the cinch sack giveaway Monday or Tuesday.

QOTD:< \em> what did you do this weekend?

Magic Time!

Good morning! I am getting on the Disney Magic today and I can’t wait to see the newly redone ship! We are spending the night near the port in Miami.

I’m going to go ahead and say I won’t have a post up tomorrow because I don’t think I will have internet access. I will be sure to take lots of photos to share with you all.

Some fun things are coming up soon like giveaways and trip recaps from Disney so stay tuned and have a great weekend!

QOTD: any fun weekend plans?

Traveling Again

Today I am hopping on a plane to Miami! I am so excited, I have never been to Miami before. I will be spending the night there before sailing out on the newly re-imagined Disney Magic on Friday morning for a two night cruise.

I have sailed on the Magic several times, and cannot wait to see all of the improvements to the ship. We first heard about these improvements at the Press Event I attended back in April. Since then, we have been teased with videos and photos of the ship being transformed, and I can’t wait to see it in person!

Some of the things I am RELLY excited about are the Aqua Dunk, the new water slide:

The revamping of the buffet to make it Cabanas:

The all new restaurant taking the place of Parrot Cay:

I will be posting live updates on Friday with photos of the ship (until we sail then the phone will be turned off!) So be sure you are following my social media accounts (check the right sidebar) to follow along with the fun!

I would love to help you plan your family’s magical Disney cruise! email or request a quote and be sure to add in my name!

QOTD: Have you sailed on Disney Cruise line? Do you want to?

Fall Pinterest Crafts

Last year, I went out on a limb and finally completed a Pinterest craft. I have so many things pinned, but either don’t have the time (or the patience) to actually do one of the crafts.

fall pinterest crafts

It actually turned out better than I expected for my non-crafty self, and so I wanted to try something for this year, but wasn’t sure what to do. So, I again headed over to trusty Pinterest to find some cute and easy (for me) ideas. Yall, there are SO MANY to choose from! Absolutely no shortage of ideas. Here are my favorite fall Pinterest crafts:

Fall candle holder:

Mason jar lid pumpkin:

Fall frames:

Initial pumpkin:

Pumpkin Tree:

Thoughts? Any favorites from this bunch? I think the last one is my favorite, but it is a bit intimidating to make! Happy fall y’all! Hope the temps are cooling down wherever you are!

QOTD: Do you make any of your own fall decorations? Ever done a fall Pinterest craft? Which is your favorite?

Baltimore Half Marathon 2013

On October 12, I ran the Baltimore half marathon as part of the Baltimore Running Festival, thanks to my friends at Under Armour. I woke up that morning and looked out my window. I could see the marathon start line! Because there were multiple races that were a part of the festival, the half marathon didn’t start until 9:45 and the marathon started at 8.

photo 1 (10)

It was cool to be able to watch the start from my room, and still have time before going down to run my race!

photo 2 (9)

Since it’s still warm down south, I had no idea what to wear. I decided to go with some super soft cold gear courtesy of Under Armour, and while I did end up getting a little warm, everything was so comfortable, even for wearing it the very first time!

photo 3 (8)

My plan for this race was to have fun. I had been out of town for 8 days on my feet all day, and eating restaurant food at every meal, so I wasn’t expecting a lot out of this. Plus, I had just raced the Tower of Terror 10 miler the Saturday before.

photo 1 (11)

I walked downstairs and had no idea where the starting line was and had to ask some cops. So much for being prepared! I was really early, and ended up waiting around for awhile. It started to rain, but thankfully we just had a few showers here and there during the race. The set up for where to start the half was honestly a little confusing.

The path to get to the half start crossed the marathon course and people kept getting in the way. Maybe there is another way they can do this or change the course for next year?

We started at 9:45, and I started half 21 not knowing what to expect!

photo 2 (10)

I felt pretty good at first, but then we just kept climbing…and climbing…and climbing. I grew up below sea level, and don’t train on many hills, so this was a big wake up call for me (and my calves!)

photo 3 (9)

My pace slowed a lot, but I was determined not to walk on any of the hills. I am super proud to say I ran the whole race except for water stops.

At some point, we met up with the full marathon folks and finished the race with them all together, which I thought was really neat.

photo 4 (6)

The first 6.5 miles were literally all uphill, and I kept thinking “we have to go down at SOME point!” My legs were tired, and we finally hit a lake. Ah, flat ground.

photo 1 (12)

We ran all the way around the lake, and I kept texting Jami funny jokes, and then this photo. I get delirious when I run and say crazy things to people. No idea why.

photo 2 (11)

If you look closely on the other side of the lake you can see all the people coming around.

photo 3 (10)

I made it up another hill after going around the lake, and we went into some really pretty neighborhoods.

photo 4 (7)

There was a good amount of crowd support, lots of funny signs, and I enjoyed seeing the city.

photo 5 (3)

About mile 9, spectators started yelling things like “you got this, this is the last big hill!” I would get excited only to run into yet another hill. This kept happening and everyone around me would laugh and groan. Eventually though, we DID hit our last hill and the last couple miles were flat and downhill which was SO NICE at the end of a race.

photo 1 (14)

The crowds got thicker and thicker so I knew we were close.

photo 2 (13)

This race actually went by pretty fast, even though it was a tough one. I was glad to see the finish, but didn’t feel like I was dying.

I crossed at 2:19, and got this little guy.

photo 3 (12)

I was happy with my time for a fun run with tons of hills right after a vacation and another race. Works for me!

I met up with Jami after who rocked the first leg of the marathon relay. We got some grub, hung out for a bit, then it was time for me to head back to the hotel before I caught my car to go back to the airport.

The race shirts from Under Armour are so soft, I love wearing mine! I of course had to match with my speedforms going to the airport.

Why yes, I did wear my medal to the airport and on the plane!

photo 5 (4)

This was a great race with good crowd support and a fun although challenging course. Under Armour is a great sponsor, and the city was a great host. If you have a chance to run this one be sure to do it!

QOTD: Do you like hilly races? Do you run them?

Disclosure: My friends at Under Armour sent me to Baltimore to run this half marathon (flights, food, hotel, race entry) however, thoughts and opinions are my own.

*Don’t forget, you can order Under Armour Product straight through my website!  This is the shirt I raced in and these are the tights. The green speedforms I wore to the airport, and the headband as well.

Family Photos

I found some old pictures of my grandparents that I wanted to share. In love history and looking at old photos.
This is of my dad’s parents, growing up in New Orleans, they got married in the early 1950’s.

My grandfather played football and baseball. He was an amazing baseball player and was going pro after college but he threw his shoulder out. Check out some of the clippings and photos I found in his scrapbook:

How fun! I found tons more, and pictures of my dad as a kid. Maybe I will share more later. 🙂

QOTD: do you have old family photos?

Baltimore half race recap tomorrow on the blog!
